I've been using an iPhone for 15 years now and this is the first non-Apple phone that even remotely catches my attention. 120Hz display for $475 seems like a sweet deal.

People are mocking this brand but it's great to see a company trying something different while the price set is a welcome change in the smartphone world. The design is just wonderful.
I think that's part of the problem. It's shame when a startup tries hard to distinguish itself and offer great features for such a low price point because we all know they will close up shop in about 6 months. It reinforces the message that only a trillion dollar monopoly or duopoly can make a difference in smartphones.

I agree, the "issue" is that this forum is made up of the most ardent Apple supporters so there's a natural negative knee-jerk reaction to anyone who tries to compete with them. But of course most consumers would love more competition in the smartphone space since it will eventually lead to new ideas and/or lower prices.

I don't know any Apple supporter/customer who doesn't want competition. What we don't want are companies and CEOs saying that their latest product is an iPhone killer because that's hubris and hyperbole no one needs. We also don't want Apple haters frothing over specs and price because Apple customers learned long ago that user experience is much more important than price and specs. So many non-Apple (and some Apple) consumers still do not understand this simple idea so we will point that out to them every time they feel like they finally have the ultimate response to Apple's hardware/ecosystem domination.

"What phone is that?"
"Nothing"
"Nothing, what?'
"Nothing!"
"Why is it called Nothing?"
Never mind, it's Nothing."

Never use negative words in your name or marketing.
There is nothing good about the name nothing, but when they started they could come up with nothing, so when they finally came up with nothing, their own people said nothing about it, and now there is nothing they can do.

I have yet to see anywhere this is an iPhone killer anything. At least from Nothing.
I suspect they are going after the legacy Apple premise of "It just works" and a solid user experience.

" is not going to be of interest to those who are deeply entrenched in the iPhone ecosystem"
I was deeply entrenched in Apple for 25 years but gave up the phone, watch, and ipad over privacy concerns. Apple is the #1 threat to privacy for most people.

Just another mid-range Android device. The only thing this has over it’s rivals is marketing.

the Phone 1 is one of the best mid-tier Android phones on the market. For those who are looking for a change or those who want something affordable with a rich feature set, the Nothing Phone 1 is competitive with its unique lighting system and higher-end components.
LOL? The best? Affordable? Competitive? Is this sponsored by Nothing itself?

Samsung Galaxy A52s: SD778, 120Hz AMOLED, IP67, 4 years of Android upgrade and monthly security patches, 8/128 for around $300
Poco F4: SD870, 120Hz AMOLED, IP53, 8/256 for less than $400

How is the Nothing phone affordable and competitive?
