Whatever, but taxes can be spent on better things than ECT and intensive care. For most people it starts out as "moderation" which turns to addiction.

It's funny cause I'd have to lower my morals not to smoke it. :)
Haha, I think I get what you mean..... :) "Morals" wasn't the right word.... "standards that I make myself follow at age 13" is probs a better phrase. ;)
Maybe in high school I'll do it a couple times to see what its like. I don't think it's so horrid, but mostly I think the bad thing is it harming memory and acting stupid while on it. I think as a healing substance it should always be accepted, but recreationally.... no, not really probs.
But hey, who am I to judge, I've never really been around it much yet at this point in my life. I read a lot of articles on it, but whatever. I find the whole issue immensly interesting.
And alcohol is so worse when overused imo.

You my friend got a good head on your shoulders. Alcohol & cigarettes are much worse, but still legal.

Do yourself a favor -- don't. Try it once, and you might just like it enough to continue. It's an expensive habit, and it can result in any number of negative health effects, both physically and mentally.

Or you could have some self control, and actually enjoy it? Yea, if you understand moderation, you know what I mean.

Right. Because children possess the maturity to do exactly that.

So now you're encouraging someone almost in high school to try drugs? What's so great about getting high anyway?

Yeah it can be expensive if you let it be, but one thing I do know is that I spend hell of a lot less than all my friends who buy cigarettes.

List could go on forever, but remember, what's fun for me might not be fun for you. If you need some people to ask, there are about 70 million people lurking in the country that would know.

How young are we talkin here?

I would sure hope you have some kind of self control, no matter what your age. I'm not talking about kids really young. My statement of self control goes for alcohol too. Just cause it's illegal in the states doesn't mean eveyone under the age of 21 is irresponsible, and doesn't know how to moderate the use of alcohol. Just look at other countries. It's not a big frackin deal.

Haha, in my case we're talking 13. :p
I'll definitely never drink in high school, at least not to the point of being drunk. Well, I mean, I can't say for sure but if I still am the same person I am now in high school I will now. I've talked to a lot of high schools students I trust about it, and they all generally agree that it's more responsible to get high that get drunk.
I just think it's probably all a bit over-rated, and I'll try to stay away from all that stuff altogether. If I did do it it would be for the sheer curiousity of knowing what it's like and understanding that.
But as of now, I don't trust myself enough to try it. I think my life is full enough academically and so forth that doing drugs would only interrupt my life and my goals.
Maybe I'm a stupid teenager, but I feel like I can handle the decision, and I will most likely pass on trying drugs because of my aspirations as a student, friend, and person.

The way you explain yourself, I can sense that you have a good sense of self, and that's important when your under the "influence". But then again, you never know what happens to you when you actually do because it's different for everyone. As long as you know your limits.

That's a great outlook, amateurmacfreak. I can assure you -- you are not stupid, considering a remark like that. :) I trust you're a competitive student, great friend and excellent person. :)

Setting your personal rules/limits/ideals is great and I totally respect that. Good job!

As long as you stay relaxed, enjoy life for what it is, know what you want for yourself and pursue a career that interests you, you can easily create limits and goals that can help guide you. (As long as they're not _too_ strict!)

Although I think everyone should try smoking once or twice, I definitely agree you should pass on it until you're a bit older. 13 is so darn young. Try not to do it until you're in college and have a friend or two, who you respect and have their act together, that happen to smoke. My first time was at 20 and I think that was the perfect age for me.

You could argue that a lot of this stuff is made up BS. Wikipedia's list is a huge list of ...this...or perhaps the opposite...might happen...

But, ignoring the propaganda (which, a lot of the DARE and anti-drug stuff actually is) and the BS and all that stuff, and all the political/moral/health debates that can ensue.. (sorry, but i'm rather laid back on these issues, as my last health class involved the instructor making the most provacative sounds (think orgasms and sex) in class and people bringing in joints and smoking them during break while we were talking about drugs...)

4/20 ended a few hours ago, but happy belated 420 anyway :D

What high school did you go to?

my health class was actually at a local CC, cause i didn't want to take it at my high school (lame). Better off for it too, regardless of whether or not i actually learned anything (more about like, fitness stuff that i've learned, but it's not as if high school health classes mention how to have safe oral sex, or have a frank and open discussion about anal sex without having someone snicker or go "ewww")
