Has anyone bought the 40Gig PS3?

Parents bought a 40gig PS3 yesterday for Christmas. I bought Fifa '08, Madden '08, and Call of Duty 4 to go along with it. Both Madden and CoD were on sale for $40. I don't own a PS2 so I figured I wouldn't need the PS2 game compatibility since I don't own any games. How is Madden? I'm coming from Madden 2002 on the Gamecube.
Hmmm....well I'm looking into one currently...that 399 price, with R:FoM, Unreal Torny 3 and upcomign games make the PS3 seem worth it
So, I've used mine about all day today. Most I have EVER played a game system straight. I've got Warhawk, Motorstorm, and Ratchet and Clank.
As usual Ratchet and Clank is great, and the levels look amazing. I've been mostly playing Warhawk, it's so addicting and the motion controls are cool. I even downloaded the Omega Dawn pack. And Motorstorm is pretty good, not the best but it looks sweet and is quite fun, just wish it had split-screen, but it did come with the console anyway. Still haven't tried Motorstorm online, too lazy to do another software update.
I also just downloaded Calling All Cars. This seems like a great party game and I can't wait to have some friends over tomorrow. Tomorrow morning I'm going to pick up Uncharted, I got addicted to the demo already. And I tried the Burnout Paradise and Gran Turismo HD demoes.
Overall this console seems perfect. I still love my Nintendo Wii and I'm glad I got a PS3+Wii instead of a 360+Wii. But I have been wanting to play Ratchet and Clank and have some good online, all in HD!
And yes Zap, it seems to be worth it.

I have no idea if they took it off or not but on the japanese playstation store there is a demo of the Gran Turismo Prologue and it gives you a chance to race other cars on the track, 16 cars total and you can drive the nissian GTR and bmw 1 series if you into the car scene.
Call of Duty 4 is a must since the online is a killer.
I played mine several hours today. It looks very nice on the new 26" 720p LG television we also bought. I'm having a little trouble adapting to Fifa... Shooting the ball seems a lot tougher than on the Gamecube. Madden is pretty good. A little laggy on the one online match I played. Call of Duty 4 is pretty tight. I got pwned online but that is to be expected adjusting to a new system, game, and controller.

I bought the PS3 a month or so ago and still no $100 deduction. I'm not surprised. I'm going to give it another month.
As far as I know, the 12-month interest free is standard and includes the $100 deduction.

Took them FOREVER to mail me my Sony reader when I did the $50 reader deal. And BTW I got an 80gb not a 40gb.
I have a 40GB PS3. It does everything I need it to do. I personally don't care for backward compatibility.

So I'm looking to possibly purchase a headset for use with Call of Duty 4 and other future games. What do you all use with good success? Is it even worth it to purchase a headset?

If you purchase Warhawk you get a bluetooth headset(Jabra BT125). This is only if you purchase it with the bundle. Warhawk is normally $40 without the headset.
Hmmm, that's something to consider. Best Buy wants $50 for this bluetooth headset. Only $10 more for a game plus headset. Then again, I don't know if I want to spend $50-60 to talk to people.
Actually... here's the pricing:
normal PS3/360 game: $60
Warhawk DOWNLOAD: $40
Warhawk boxed w/ headset: $60

I knew the download was $40 and the disk was $60. The $50-60 range I listed was either for the headset alone or Warhawk with the headset. Game prices is what has kept me away from gaming lately. It's a large investment for the console, which carries on with the games. The last console I owned was a Gamecube and I haven't bought a game for that in probably three years. However, I had good luck with game prices when I bought the PS3. Got both COD4 and Madden '08 for $40 each, but I had to pay the full $60 for Fifa.
A separate question. Is there a website (thinking of nintendowifi.com as I write this) that tells the current activity on the Playstation Network for a particular game. Oftentimes on Call of Duty 4 it will connect me into a nearly full game while other times I am alone waiting for players. Is it just luck? For example, as I type this I am waiting for a Free-for-all but no one is connecting with me. Surely there are three other players that want to play.
[EDIT] Is it possible that the server is down or something is wrong on my end? It isn't matching me with anybody right now.
I also get that problem with Call of Duty. I don't think it has to do with the PSN. A solution I found to that problem is to basically go back to the lobby and search again, or go back to the Play Online screen and try it.

Tonight it was weird. I was matched automatically on a Groundwar, but no such luck on Free-for-all or Team Deathmatch. I do leave the game search and try again with no luck; tomorrow if the problem persists I will go back to Play Online.
Also tomorrow I will go out to Best Buy and check out Warhawk. Didn't think I was ready to get a new game so soon, but I see it was well received by IGN. Good suggestion on buying used from craigslist. I really don't think about options other than Best Buy.
Tonight the match pairing was not working for me at all on Call of Duty 4. Last night I wasn't able to get into a free-for-all or team death match but ground war worked. Tonight I was not able to get paired into any match. Thoughts on what may be wrong? I would imagine there would be plenty of people playing on a Saturday night.
[EDIT] I was browsing through the Playstation forums and it looks like I'm not the only person having trouble connecting. Something is up with the servers. Hope they sort it out soon.
