I have a similar machine as he does, on BTO. Except I did go faster hard drive. But even so, I would have ordered online even though I have 4 Apple stores within 20 minutes.

Sure but he may not have known that they're available if he doesn't want to wait so its relevant info. I'm in NYC and wanted to go pick it up Tues but talked myself into waiting to get the faster HD.

Order just updated : Cancelled.

I guess you can't use the Mac Developer Account and get the Hardware Developer Discount. :( I was hoping, but no big deal. I can live without; was just hoping to save a few bucks.
 
INFO FOR UK ORDERS

This could very well apply to many of the UK customers that have ordered, because I ordered mine at a very similiar time.

Just to say, I ordered mine on the release day at around 5-6pm.

However, I ordered by phone, and when asked about delivery - he said around the 27th of April due to the struggle with demand.

I know a lot of UK customers are literally expecting the 3-4 days, but the rep said this was just for shipping, apparently it takes like another week and a half just to deliver it? Bloody ridiculous if you ask me.

Still no update on my bto. I ordered within 10 minutes after store came up.

It looks like ssd and 8gb of ram may be the slowing factors. I ordered 15in, hires glossy, i7, 8gb ram, 500gb@7200rpm.

I'm just guessing Monday or Tuesday delivery with 2-3 day shipping.... Hopefully!

I had the same setup.
Although I'm curious into how you have a HDD and a SSD?

I had an SSD inbuilt. 256mb

did you get an extra external SSD?

I was in the same boat as you. My developer account expired THREE DAYS before they released the new MBPs but I tried to use it anyways and it got cancelled :(. Oh well at least I used my education discount instead.
 
Save you Money on 17" Rush Shipping

I live in the USA, and just got off the phone with Apple. The rep stated the factory that builds the CTO 17" only ships expedited. That explains why the shipping arrival was the same with either option.

He also said the CTO's take 1-3 business days to build. 3 at the max.

Just thought I should share.
 
Ordered via online employee purchase program 7:15am PST on April 13

Base 2.4 MBP with HR anti-glare display. Expedited delivery.

Order status still shows shipping in 2-4 days with April 16-22 delivery. Sales rep tells me it will probably ship Monday from China and be delivered Thursday April 22.

Yes. This morning, I added a printer to my order. It is shipping separately at no additional charge.
 
Since no anti glare models arrived at my Apple Store today, I have decided to proceed with the online purchase.

From the shipping, Apple is probably going to wait until the first batch is complete to save on shipping (first day's builds); however from past CTO purchases (ie: my purchase from 2 weeks ago), when I ordered on Tuesday, my computer arrived on the Monday of next week. So by that, I'm expecting delivery on April 19th.

Argh yeah i still don't know what to do either. I want the antiglare and want to minimize waiting. The apple stores didn't have antiglare in, but the guy told me to call back in 2 hours... I'm sick of this, I just want my MBP (although high res antiglare)

They probably wanted you to call back because that's when they get stock; I called after they got deliveries and no dice.

Yeah i know, but i was so excited to find out i could get it tomorrow, i really want to play with it, and i don't have a working computer atm :(
