17" i7 BTO ordered Tues when the store came back. Changed to "prepared for shipping" around 5:45pm BST.

P.S. Still says 21-22nd for delivery

I did change my order later that afternoon but I just only changed the drive upgrade. I don't think that'd affect the preparation time because according to my order on apple.com, it still shows order places on 8:30 am. I think so many people has their computers prepared for shipment today on top of deliveries to all apple stores, that there may be a lag in the update status. At least I'm hoping so, and I'll get some good news today.

Forgot to mention I live in WI, US. but I don't think location affects that at all.

It's my wishful thinking that they're building them in the USA.. because if they were, then overnight delivery and arrival tomorrow is possible. :) Whereas China would obviously be next week.

Also, I agree with a previous poster that it's very odd how some orders that were placed after ours are shipping before ours, even though the configuration is the same (and assuming payment and other options were the same).

In any case, this is much better than when I ordered my current machine. It was saying "3 - 4 WEEKS" when the Santa Rosa chipset first came out and you wanted anything non-standard. I'll take 3-4 days over that anytime!

Today I was told by two different Retail Apple Store employees at two different Apple Stores that they won't be carrying the 17" Core i7 glossy in the store, they will only carry the 17" Core i7 anti-glare. So I placed my order at the online Apple Store and am awaiting its arrival next week:

Ships: 1 - 3 business days
Delivers: Apr 19 - Apr 23 by 2-3 day shipping
Configuration
2.66GHz Intel Core i7
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
MacBook Pro 17-inch Hi-Resolution Glossy Widescreen Display
Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
iWork Family Pack preinstalled
Accessory kit

Someone mentioned that there is a warehouse in PA so I'm assuming it's being shipped from there. I do believe they have one in U.S. and one in China. There's no way apple stores can get the computers as fast as they did straight from China.

I'm really confused as to why some of those people have computers being shipped already ... I really hope it's a status update lag. I do hope expedited shipping would mean delivery on a saturday if computers will be shipped out today (wishful thinking).

Looking through the posts it seems Like people that ordered The Hi-res glossy Screens Are the ones that have yet to ship (I ordered an i7 with HR glossy as the only option at 4pm on tuesday)May have something todo with the Antiglare being carried in Stores and the glossy-hires wont...

I ordered my stone stock 13 MBP Tuesday at 1:52 p.m. As of now, still not shipped...and not cancelable (which I hope means the wee beastie is in process, at least). Delivers April 15 to 21. I don't think it's coming today, as it hasn't shipped.

I planned to buy one originally at a local Apple Store, but I called first and it turned out they had no idea when they'd have them in stock.

I'm a little disappointed -- I really need the new one for work, as my old PowerBook G4 is just about done and my iPad doesn't cut it for work stuff (yet).

So yeah...I'm mildly annoyed, having shelled out $1,500 (with AppleCare) and getting such poor communication and customer service.

Still sitting in a "Not yet shipped" status. Odd that orders of the same configuration that were done several hours after this order have received shipment statuses.

Nice, just got a status change to "Prepared for Shipment"

No that's not true. If you look on page 11, you'll see a bunch of orders with high res screens being prepared for shipment already.

I'm so frustrated right now...the guy I spoke to doesn't know what he's talking about and is giving me standard terms and definitions of possible shipping times, etc etc etc. He won't give me the answers I want.
