My 15" i7 CTO (Customized to Order) was ordered on April 19th.
Yesterday I received an email from Apple, which included the following sentence:
" Due to an unexpected delay, we are unable to ship the following item(s)
by the date that you were originally quoted:
Z0J6, MBP 15.4/2.66/CTO
will now ship on or before
May 05, 2010
Please note that product availability can change rapidly, and it is
possible that your order may ship much sooner than we anticipate. You
may even receive a shipment confirmation between the time we send this
email and the time that you read it.
So geesh, looks like people are either buying these things like crazy, or Intel's Core i7 Assembly Line is run by little old ladies...

A third possibility is that someone is buying up all the little old ladies.
Okay guys help me understand this.... I'm impatiently waiting on the 13" MBP I ordered earlier this week. I paid for the expedited shipping.

Today I checked and the message is the same
Any reason it wouldn't have been scanned at the next location yet with the expedited shipping?

Wooo! It's on the truck right now, about four days early! Right on, Fedex!
I ordered on the 17th so it took 13 days from the order to my doorstep.

Mine just hit Louisville this morning, 9am.
I got the email this morning that it shipped from Shangai and is en route.
Timing stinks because I need to be in the city all day Monday-Wednesday next week and won't be able to be home to receive it... Darn....

WTF?!? I ordered on the 20th. i have a delivery date of May 4 @ 10:30am
and my status still looks like this. its been this way for over 24 hours now

I called FedEx today and spoke with someone in their IPD dept. the rep stated taht these shipments are bulk packaged on pallets so me upgrading to 2nd day business will not make a bit of difference because all packages leave china together. not sure if that is true or not..just relaying what she said.
package is being delivered to NJ and she said it will route VIA Anc. Surprised that it wont beon FDX90 direct to memphis.
why oh why can't i be lucky like some of you to get it early. meanwhile my buddy got his 3g ipad today, and i still dont have my toy
This waiting game sucks. I can go right down the street and pick up an i7 with the low res screen and spend my weekend playing around with it.. or just sit and hope that they can deliver a hi res in a reasonable time frame. I already sold of the old 13" unibody and starting to have Macbook withdrawals.
Dont think so, my delivery date is 5/4 but its on the FedEx Truck for Delivery today! Generally speaking once it has departed from AK, it will be delivered next day - even with standard shipping.
Im on the same boat as you. I have ordered it on the 15th i have however recieved a shipping notice on Saturday just gone jus no tracking yet
Thanks, you're right. My delivery estimate still says May 4, but my shipment is now on a truck for delivery!

You guys in the States are lucky - your stuff gets delivered "pronto" by Fedex.
Here in Europe, Apple is shafting all of us who ordered a MBP with accessories or Applecare, and need to "merge" our orders.
Basically the end result is that our MBP's come on a slow boat from CHINA, and we don't get ANY tracking numbers or info, zilch!
Some of us have been waiting like lemons for almost 4 weeks!
Obviously Steve Jobs doesn't think there are enough Apple Worshipper Fanboys in Europe, to bother sending our stuff with a decent carrier service!

You guys in the States are lucky - your stuff gets delivered "pronto" by Fedex.
Here in Europe, Apple is shafting all of us who ordered a MBP with accessories or Applecare, and need to "merge" our orders.
Basically the end result is that our MBP's come on a slow boat from CHINA, and we don't get ANY tracking numbers or info, zilch!
Some of us have been waiting like lemons for almost 4 weeks!

The screen definitely looks brighter than my old glossy screen. Going to transfer from my old machine now.

I've ordered two. The first one came in on the very last day of Apple's delivery guess. This one, "IF" it gets prepared today, might make it for Apple's last day of their delivery time.
Bottom line. Their busy selling iPads and don't give a rip about the computer users anymore.
Sorry if that's too bitter.
