I live in Vancouver Canada, my laptop shipped from shanghai to anchorage (ok that's expexted); than UPS decides to send it to Louisville Kentucky? Uhhhh what? Is that a customs thing or what the hells going on here?

My IT dept ordered a CTO MBP 15"/Corei7/Hires AGscreen/8GB RAM/7200rpm HDD on my behalf so that I get the institutional education discount. They have also put in priority overnight shipping. From the acknowledgement email forwarded to me I saw it is expected to ship May6th. It was ordered April22nd. I checked the status right now and I still see that I has not shipped yet. I wonder if the order status page is updated frequently enough and if calling apple going to be of any help at all.

Yes everyday... it's how FedEx works. Memphis is FedEx's hub and to save time and money, most international shipments are processed through there.

UPS out of ANC only ships to Louisville, Onterio (California) and maybe one other but I can't remember. Anyway, it'll get re-routed in Louisville and shipped back to you. But I've been watching this thread and Canadians have been complaining about UPS deliveries.

I've ordered two MBP's since the 13th and the first shipped to ANC the second shipped to MEM. It's whatever flight they have available when they get a bunch of orders to ship.

My order is 3 days over due to the estimated delivery date:

Estimated Delivery: 03 May, 2010 - 04 May, 2010

Today it's May 7th - LOL! I was 'that' close to cancel my order, then i got a message from Apple:


We are seeing some delays in products shipping from China.
I would expect this unit to ship over the weekend and delivery to you by end of next week.
This is how it looks right now and things could change though.

Arrived Fast!!! It's a Beauty!!!

Ordered on April 29 at 9:30 PM, CTO / 17" MacBook Pro / i7 Core / Glossy

Took 3 days to ship from China!!! Expected delivery was May 10-17. Received May 6! This was the fastest custom order I have received from Apple. Kudos to UPS.

So everyone be patient when it's out on delivery as it states deliveries are between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm not mornings only, you could be the last house on the route like ours came at 5pm.

The CR told me that this is a model meaning 15" Corei7 they have problem with (which she didn't specify what it is exactly) and according to her the unit will ship on or before May 15th. May15th!!!! thats like another 7 days to ship!! She stressed on BEFORE but frankly i think that just her script in front of her.

Went from China -> Alaska -> New Jersey -> New York.

Blurg, my order was "prepared for shipping" all day yesterday, but it still managed to miss the shipping deadline. Now it won't go out until next Monday. You would think that there would be an extra effort made to make sure that all of the things ready to be shipped out on a Friday were actually given to FedEx before their cut-off time. I wouldn't be so annoyed if my computer weren't ready for shipment yet, but my package was "prepared for shipment" around 10 AM Shanghai time so basically it was ready to go out and they let it sit there until the end of the day. Stupid Apple factory...

Same boat as you. Education store, CTO, 2 weeks after I placed my order and they havent even shipped it yet. At the end of the third week waiting, they tell me they are just getting to build it... WOW...

But it will be well worth the wait!

Just received an update from the reseller. Apple has shipped my MBP!!! ETA is now on May 12th instead of being shipped out on May 13th! What a nice surprise, 1 week earlier arrival date.

I'm from Vancouver too and while I don't have any complaints about UPS it's more the lack of knowledge their CSR seem to have.

Like yours my shipment went to Anchorage and then Louisville. Then on the online tracking it seemed to go BACK to Anchorage before going back again to Louisville. The CSR's had no explanation of this. After this is went to Buffalo, then crossed the border to Mount Hope before eventually making it's way east to Vancouver through Winnipeg. What irritated me the most is that Apple's original email which provided me with the tracking number said it would arrive on May 6th, 2010. Everytime I called UPS they said it would arrive on May 10th, 2010 and WOULD NOT arrive on the 6th. On the morning of the 6th (yesterda) I saw that the package was in Richmond. I called UPS again to see if it would be delivered before the 10th and if not could I pick it up. They again said it while it is in Richmond it would not ship before the 10th. I was extremely annoyed by this but to be honest I had no doubt that it would be delivered on the 6th or 7th. I mean it's not just going to sit there for 4 days. Sure enough it got delivered not 2 hours after I spoke to UPS. Total lack of knowledge as far as I'm concerned.

Btw, for the other Canadian online customers. This was explained to me by one of the more knowledgable UPS csr's and made total sense with regards to Canadian deliveries. Apparently Apple puts together a pallet of items to be shipped to Canada out of China. This pallet then travels together throughout the world before making an entry at one of the designated ports of entry in order to clear customs as one large batch (makes it easier as customs charges are then sent back to Apple rather than the customer having to pay it out upon delivery). Then once it clears customs and enters Canada it gets shipped out across Canada as a domestic delivery. This is precisely what happened in my case.

Great...I just ordered a 15" i7 last night. I hope mine doesn't take ages to ship. Not only am I too impatient but I'm moving in 3 weeks, I can't have it take 2 weeks to ship then several days to get here

Thanks for that- mine went from Louisville>Buffalo as well. Been sitting in mount hope since 4am local ontario time apparently, (no departure scan yet just an import scan). Hopefully I get it monday/tuesday, I assume they don't move on the weekends?

Looks like mine will ship Monday (unless they do Saturday pickups ) It says it is "prepared for shipment"! Ordered 5/6 about 5pm PST, so got it ready pretty quickly!

It's in the depot! Should hopefully be delivered on Monday (a day earlier than quoted and ironically enough, the last day quoted for delivery before they 'delayed' it)

When my MBP was delayed the first time the email said it would ship on or before the 5th. When the 5th came and went my MBP hadn't shipped yet. Fact is they dont know and are just stalling. If the 15th comes and it hasn't shipped yet they'll just give you another date and cross their fingers they're right. I guess they figure it's better than telling you they have no clue when it'll be ready. People might cancel their orders...like I did

I will wait until it's all cleared up and whatever defect they have is resolved then order again.
