Damn, i've got almost the same issue, it's now been week 4 (Apil 16th) that I've been waiting for my MBP, and im acutally also considering to cancel it at my re-seller, and buying it online. It's going to be my first mac too, so I felt more confident ordering at a reseller. Now I don't know, the biggest problem is that they don't give me ANY info, so it's like I don't know where the hell my mbp is. So it might be on it's way, or it still might be in Shanghai. So do you already have an date when it supposed to arrive? Btw I orderd a 15' i7, hi-res glossy, 500gb@7200rpm, iWork pre-installed. So guys what do you think I should do, just wait it out, or cancel it and re-order through Apple Online Store? Im located in the Netherlands.

You and I are singing the same song. Ordered my 15" Core i7 MBP with the 500GB@7200 RPM drive (no other changes from standard) on April 16th from my Apple reseller. This is also my first Mac.I was told my unit would ship on April 23rd, then May 7th, now I'm getting May 14th. At this rate, we'll be on the next gen of the laptops before mine ever ships! Does Applecare coverage start the day you order, or the day it's released to you?

The worst part is, my reseller has dozens of the 5400 RPM unit in stock, and since I paid for 2-day shipping, I could have the unit on Wednesday if I was willing to step down the hard drive.

Sadly, this has been a pretty frustrating experience. I've been waiting for 6 months for the new MBPs, and it's kind of annoying to have put down the cash for it and still not have the device. I travel every other week across the country, and I'm really not looking forward to lugging my 4-year old HP across the US next week.

Same here, Eplehuset are unable to give me any info on the AG MBP15 ordered on the 24th.

'It may come tomorrow or two weeks from now, we don't know, we can't track it'.

When I ordered a CTO MB for my mother, directly through Apple, it was simple to track the order status throughout the process. Surely the reseller should have at least as much information as a typical Apple customer ?!?!

Unfortunately my MBP is AG, so I can't cancel the order - you might be in the same situation...

Applecare starts the day you enter your serial number, or something else that marks your mac, since you still don't have you're mac you won't be able to enter your serial on the Apple Care website, so don't worry about that.

Pherhaps you should have done that, I mean I honestly think i'll replace my HD into a SSD in 1 or 2 years, when prices come down a little..

Yeah me too, I've waited out all those freaking arrendale threads, even the shanghai threads, and now I don't know anymore. Though I'm not going to travel a lot with it like you'll, but it's still freaking annoying!

Yeah annoying, they told me it was coming in 2 to 3 weeks. So now were past that, and they still don't have any info. I can't understand that part either, I mean now days you can track every little package you get, so why are they not able to check when there stock is going to be delivered..
One thing I don't understand, you're familiar with Apple, since you ordered one for your mom, so why didn't you order online again instead through a reseller?

Well I was freaking pissed on the phone when I talked with my reseller, and I told them that it pherhaps would be quicker if I ordered through the online store, and he gave me the option to cancel the order so I don't that will bother me. Besides I ordered a glossy

My mother lives somewhere in Europe (where Apple has its own retail stores), so it was easiest for me to deal with Apple directly.

Over here (in Norway), Apple only has an online presence, so I figured I'd build up a relationship with my local 'premium' reseller, as I read a number of complaints about the quality of service offered by Apple Online Store here; and conversely, that that particular reseller was pretty good). But now I'm not convinced :-s

Hmm okay, that makes sense, had the same thought about the relationship with the premium seller, but now the hell with that. I'll only buy little things there in the future, or ask advice, that's it.

Got Screwed too...

Yep, me too. Ordered for myself and a colleague on April 15th through an apple reseller on campus (15" i7 macbookpro, AG, 500GB 7200rpm) and still waiting. we're getting the educational discount and a tax break but it's almost not worth the frustration. waiting since Jan., survived the waiting for Arrandale thread, and just really annoyed now. reseller said 5-7 days till it ships 2 fridays ago so hopefully not that much longer (another week?). just wish apple would treat this reseller better(?) and hoping the laptop arrives without any problems (dead pixels, noise, etc...) or i'll really be pissed. later.

I have ordered a MBP 15" i7 HR Glossy and 500GB 7200rpm on April 19th from the Authorized Distributor (we don't have neither apple online store nor applestores in Greece). They told me that it will ship in 20 to 25 days. I called them today and they have said that it hasn't shipped yet and I should have to wait for another two weeks. Is there something I can do? Should I demand an express shipping? 5 weeks and more is too much . . .

Mine is “prepared for shipping” apparently, so it is too late to cancel, and no decision to make. Scheduling some time off next week to set it up, though this may be a little optimistic.

Still hasn't shipped... CTO last Wednesday. I have to use this thinkpad till it comes in

Arrived today :D OMFG the thing is gorgeous 17" i7 anti glare 4gigs of ram 7200rpm 500gig only 6 days behind schedule (ordered on the 20th of April was quoted May 4th at the latest it prepared for shipping that day and arrived today) Bootcamped with windows 7 and parallels accessing the same install flawlessly now the question is do I go for the elusive triple boot.....

But more on topic a friend with apple website access searched my serial number my apple care doesn't list it as being sold until early JUNE apparently they were fearing delays?

Same here!
Ordered thru Apple re-seller in Hong Kong on 19th of April.
Still not here yet :( They said end of this week.

Hey Bpran, Just curious which upgrades did you get? And which Re-seller did you order from?

I ordered the i7, 7200 RPM HD w/High Res Glossy...And i ordered it from Fortress...

Did you get any update about yours? Did the re-seller tell you when you can expect it?

Sorry i'm first answering you now. I ordered the same date as you (april 16th) and your issue sounds very similar to mine. I also felt it confident to order through a re-seller, but i had to face, that it was not worth it. Btw, i will first order my new machine by wednesday, because a Apple imployee told me, that Wire Transfer would take longer time (approx. 3-7 business days extra). I will be posting here in this forum (you can also follow my signiture where i daily update the status of my mbp). If you concider cancel your order, then i can reassure that ordering it through Apple directly is a much better choice. I'm already talking with one of their imployees, and so far they seems to be very helpful. :)

Good luck to you with your future buy, and I hope you will get your machine soon as well :)

That's okay! Yeah me too, next time will definitely be through the online store! Oke cool, i'll hear from you! Yeah I was sort of considering about canceling, but it has been more then 3 weeks, I don't know how much fast it will go through the online store, the big problem is that I have no idea where that thing is, but I think I'll stick with the reseller for now, it will be here.. some day!:D(that's my optimistic side, lol!)
Good to hear that you're taken care off by Apple, goodluck to you too!

Shipped but stuck in Louisville KY

Hi All,

This is my first mac and I went all out and ordered a MBP 17" i7.

It's been four weeks and I'm getting frustrated with all this waiting!

First, delays at Apple: ordered on April 20. Finally shipped on May 7th!
Second, delays at UPS: stuck in Louisville, KY, since May 10th!

I don't understand the hold up in KY. Why are they not moving my shipment? I live in NJ and I was hoping that it wouldn't stay in KY for more than 24 hours. It's been sitting there for almost three days.

Re-ordered!

Hi everyone.

I have now re-ordered my MBP 17" CTO through the Apple online store. And I must say - it's really a pleasure. The machine will ship 3 days from now, and the estimated delivery is 20 - 21 May 2010 - which I think is very VERY quick according to last time where i waited almost a whole month and it was not even shipped (I did also order it through a Apple re-seller ) So at this time I can say that i hope I will get it as promised.

Hoping that everyone, who is still waiting, will get your lovely MBP soon! I will post any updates here in this forum, but you can also follow my signiture, which is located on the bottom of this message.

I'm so excited - soon I will be a mac user along with my very first mac! :D
