Ordered my i7, 7200 RPM, High Res Glossy on the 24th from my local re-seller called them 3 days ago for an update and they said that Apple is waiting for stock of "components" to complete my order...Im guessing they mean the i7 chips from Intel...

The worst thing is i live in Hong Kong which is a 2 hour flight from Shanghai!!! I expected that I would get it faster then people in the U.S. or Europe, but it seems like its gonna take the same time or MORE!!!...The salesman from my re-seller said that it should be delivered on the 19th of may....I hope so cause its already been over 2 weeks and it still isn't even built!:(

Anyone else got an update? Has the new stock of i7 chips arrived yet?

The worst thing is that i ordered through an Apple re-seller and not from Apple direct, So i can't even check the order status online @ Apple.com. Every time i want an update i need to call the re-seller, and they then need to contact apple which takes 1-2 days

I ordered my MBP 13" 2010 CTO + sleeve 30th of April, bank payment was processed 3rd of May. It shipped 7th of May and scheduled delivery date is 21 - 22 May, however I expect that it will come earlier. Can't wait! :D

Ordered a 17" i7 with 8GB and a 7200 rpm hard drive on May 4. It shipped on Friday and is scheduled for delivery on Tuesday.

First MacBook Pro. Now I need to sell my windows laptop

I am actually shocked at how fast FedEx is moving this thing. I ordered a 15" i7 7200rpm/AG with standard shipping on May 5. Even with one of those "Package received after FedEx cutoff" messages, it left Shanghai on the 7th, and is already in Newark NJ on the 9th, less than an hour away from my house. Says the delivery date is this Thursday...? I have a feeling it will be coming sooner :D

When my MBP was delayed the first time the email said it would ship on or before the 5th. When the 5th came and went my MBP hadn't shipped yet. Fact is they dont know and are just stalling. If the 15th comes and it hasn't shipped yet they'll just give you another date and cross their fingers they're right. I guess they figure it's better than telling you they have no clue when it'll be ready. People might cancel their orders...like I did

I will wait until it's all cleared up and whatever defect they have is resolved then order again.

In brief: Ordered 15" Corei7 on Apr 22nd
Estimated shipping May 6th
May 6th status bumped to ON OR BEFORE May15th
Status Updated on May8th to "Prepeared for shipping" - Ships in 1-3 business days
Question: Whats the actual shipping time to reach NY w/ priority overnight shipping

I agree, I assumed when I saw that it missed the cutoff on Friday, that it wouldn't even leave China until tomorrow...but I just checked the shipping to see that my MBP is in Oakland, CA and given that I am in LA, there is definitely a chance I might get this by tomorrow, if not Tuesday.

I've always had good luck with Apple _and_FedEx.

I ordered another 15" i7 / 8GB / 500GB@7200 / Hi-Res Anti-Glare on May 5th. It shipped on the 8th, and is scheduled to be delivered to me by 10:30AM tomorrow.

Hopefully mine will be here tomorrow; arrived in a local warehouse early Saturday morning and has been there ever since with "EXPORT SCAN" as the last status update.

Between myself & friends, we've been ordering i7's weekly since they were released. We have not experienced any delays. It usually takes just five to seven days from the date the order is placed until we receive it.

Same here!
Ordered thru Apple re-seller in Hong Kong on 19th of April.
Still not here yet :( They said end of this week.

Unfortunately Apple resellers are treated like second class shops by Apple. They only get product if Apple has a plentiful supply. If not, then resellers must wait. In addition it depends on the resellers relationship with Apple which is very political. Some resellers get much better attention from Apple than others. Finally since the reseller makes next to no profit because of Apples greed, selling Apple laptops is secondary to their Apple accessory business.

Finally went and picked mine up from the TNT depot here in Sydney today :)

Ordered 22nd April, received today on the 10th May after one "delay" and I couldn't be happier about the HR glossy display. Significantly less reflective than most people would lead you to believe.. ;)

I just got off the phone w/ apple. The CR told me that this is a model meaning 15" Corei7 they have problem with (which she didn't specify what it is exactly) and according to her the unit will ship on or before May 15th. May15th!!!! thats like another 7 days to ship!! She stressed on BEFORE but frankly i think that just her script in front of her.

OK maybe I was being too skeptical about the apple CR; just received an email that my 15" Corei7 MBP has shipped, FedEX tracking shows that it is enroute; estimated delivery date May12th. Now hopefully FedEX guys won't fail me.

The pattern in all these stories seems to indicate that there is a shortage in certain components (i7, anti-glare screens for 15''), and that in such cases those who ordered directly from Apple get a priority, and those who paid full price get priority over educational customers. This might explain my case, nearly 4 weeks since ordering on April 13 and no word on when the machine will be shipped (15'' with i7 and anti-glare screen, ordered through university bookstore).

I ordered a 15" i7 with HR AG through edu discount on the 28th of april, shipped 3 business days later.

Yeah, I got an education discount when I ordered a 15 inch i5 2.53 on May 5th with only one custom option--a 7200 rpm hard drive--and its supposedly going to be delivered today.

OK, so educational discount doesn't put you at a disadvantage, but seems like ordering through a third party does. Just trying to figure out how to avoid this in the future.

isn't it pretty obvious? Buy directly from apple.com or an apple store.

New order

After having bad experience with my order through a Apple re-seller, i've finally cancelled and today I ordered it directly through Apple itself. I had waiting almost a month and it was not even shipped yet, so my advice to everyone in here who have ordered it through a Apple re-seller, please concider ordering through Apple directly.

With that said, I have choosed to pay the machine via Wire Tranfer, anyone in here having experience with this would be lovely if you could help me out :) I'm from Denmark btw, and looking forward to recieve my very first Mac very soon.

To follow up, my MBP arrived 30 minutes ago and it is beautiful!!!!! I had spilled on my old one (thankfully the AppleCare was running out in 2 weeks anyways) and I had forgotten how nice it was to be able to type "O's and 9's" without having to resort to Apple-V! But yeah I ordered a CTO MBP with the education discount on Wednesday and it arrived on Monday.

I keep forgetting I have a multi-touch trackpad but hopefully it will become second nature soon.

UPS has said for over 50 hours now that my MBP will arrive today (the 10th), but I'm starting to doubt it will come today; 10:30am and it still hasn't moved since 8:30am Saturday morning when it arrived in my cities warehouse. UPS is so frustrating.

It's a matter of degree, I expected some delay, but nothing like this. Well, I know what to do next time...question is what to do this time, at what stage do I decide this computer is not coming anytime soon, and I need to cancel and re-order directly.

Damn, i've got almost the same issue, it's now been week 4 (Apil 16th) that I've been waiting for my MBP, and im acutally also considering to cancel it at my re-seller, and buying it online. It's going to be my first mac too, so I felt more confident ordering at a reseller. Now I don't know, the biggest problem is that they don't give me ANY info, so it's like I don't know where the hell my mbp is. So it might be on it's way, or it still might be in Shanghai. So do you already have an date when it supposed to arrive? Btw I orderd a 15' i7, hi-res glossy, 500gb@7200rpm, iWork pre-installed. So guys what do you think I should do, just wait it out, or cancel it and re-order through Apple Online Store? Im located in the Netherlands.

Mine just arrived! 15" HR Antiglare, i7.

I ordered on May 5 (paid for 2-3 day shipping), and received it on May 10.
