Hi. I ordered my 17" antiglare, i7, 500g 7200 drive on Friday at 3p.m. CST. It estimated 5-7 day ship on order with delivery between April 26-30. I live in Iowa.

I'm happy to report that it instead shipped today (Monday) with tracking indicating a Wednesday April 20th delivery by 10:30 a.m. That's a nice surprise.

how's that possible? I ordered mine on freaking Wednesday... and today... freaking today... it finally left Shanghai. And it's still not due to get to me until like the 22nd?

How are you getting it that fast?

Not sure. I'm pretty surprised too. Maybe my configuration was more common, or one they had ready? Or it could be due to shipping routes?

How close are you to the airport that it's due to get to... I'm a long ways from Memphis..

691 miles. It could also be that yours was one of the first ones on the same flight, and mine was one of the last. Is your last in transit from Shanghai at 11:14?

I just updated my long flight/shipping post with some UPS-related info from a previous post, which may be of use to you and other folks in Canada.

Here is an example of a Canadian UPS tracker, if it helps improve your post. Hopefully I get on either UPS71, UPS81, or, preferably, UPS105 to Rockford, IL, as opposed to Louisville, since it's closer to Canada.

Does this info help? I ordered within an hour of availability of the new computers. I got the 15" i7 with the matte/high res screen. We live in San Diego. Here is the status as of 4pm PST today:

Interesting. Did you order expedited? The fact they sent it to Memphis and hasn't moved for a while suggests this is a purposeful delay, to keep your package moving around and to balance load between flights. Otherwise you'd probably have been on an ANC-OAK flight (which could've gotten you your laptop today; actually it could've gotten there today through MEM even.) Other West Coast folks who got in on the same flight to ANC already have their laptops in hand, but I'm guessing those were all expedited.

Just to add another data point, my 17" CTO arrived at Anchorage today from Guangzhou.

Ship date: Apr 17
Estimated delivery: Apr 21 by 10:30 am

Ack! Now I have to go do some more digging around, first tracking I've seen not go directly out from PVG to the US. :) Anyone else have one of these? It could be a misrouting, or perhaps a small number of overflow packages went that way... (Odd route too, PVG-CAN-ANC is 34.2% further than PVG-ANC.)

There don't seem to be any RFD departures to Canada. There's an RFD-DTW flight, making it possible that your package could land there and be trucked over the border if you're in Ontario...

I didn't bother looking at SDF, but I'm sure if you do there will be tons of flights to all over Canada.

Min was shipped on the 19th (today), after being prepared for shipment on the 16th. It missed the "FedEx cutoff" though. What exactly does it mean? It delayed my expected date until the 22nd. How is it shipped on one day, but miss the cutoff on the same day?

hmmm not sure.. i thought it was the flight after that? All I know is that my shipping thing says it's "in transit" from Shanghai at 2:45.

It doesn't seem to mean much. Updated my meta-post to reflect that fact. Stuff that's "Picked up" > 12 hours before the flight out of Shanghai have still been missing the cutoff. It seems to take at least until the next day to go from "Picked up" to leaving PVG whether or not you miss the cutoff.

hmm.. been over 24 hours since mine became shipped, but no tracking no yet :s
Normal for uk delivery CTO with AC n extras?

In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly.

Another odd tracking combination..

My 15 didn't have any "in transit" scans in alaska, it arrived, went through int'l shipment release then left..

For my 17 there's an in transit scan in alaska that doesn't correspond with any flights that left to Memphis.

There's FDX76 that left at 2:29 and FDX94 that left at 4:04 local..

If you only have a single "in transit" scan, I suspect your package is sitting at the airport. You'll likely be on FDX28 leaving around 9PM local time tomorrow (so about 12 hours from now), or possibly FDX90 around 11PM, but we have yet to see if weekday shipments go through MEM and not just ANC.

It's quite possible to have shipped out on Monday and receive your package on Tuesday, for just about anywhere in the US that's reasonably close to a major city. Two days in transit should get you anywhere in the US. People are getting quoted longer times due to purposeful delays to meet the scheduled shipping timeframe, and it seems an extra day or two if you're not expedited.

It has the double "in transit" one at 2:45 and the other i think is like 3:15ish...

thanks to the volcanic dust, doesn't look like anything will even start arriving to the UK until mid week, and I am sure there is a large backorder too, I'm gutted, as my MBP was shipped on Saturday, but no news since then, meant to be arriving on the 5th of May, but don't see how that works considering it was shipped already.

Also for us UK buyers, does anyone know how to track it? It only says shipped on the APPLE track website, nothing more, no location, no tracking number, nothing... argghh. I hope it comes soon!

Hmm, you have the same timestamps as the other poster going through Guangzhou. It's about 23 hours between the Shanghai and Guangzhou timestamps. Google Maps says it's about a 1570km drive and approx 20 hours. So I'm guessing those ones going out of Guangzhou were trucked down from Shanghai. Or perhaps by train; transit time between the two is as low as 10 hours, though freight trains probably go a good bit slower... Reminder of how much the passenger rail system sucks in the US. :) (The train route is closer to 2000km, too!)

"In transit" doesn't seem to mean much. It just means the package was scanned at that location. It may have been arriving, it may have been leaving, or it may have just randomly received a scan for routing purposes or some other reason without moving at all.

It has the double "in transit" one at 2:45 and the other i think is like 3:15ish...

Well, you should hopefully find out around in 4+ hours sometime after FDX90 lands in Memphis. :) While the second "in transit" in Shanghai has matched up for many shipments, for a lot of them it's quite a few hours earlier. I suspect that it was just loaded/prepared at the airport and that the ones with later scans got there later.

The arrival in alaska from Guangzhou lined up with a flight from tokyo.

Actually, what will probably happen is that the MacBook Pro you ordered will ship to you anyway, Apple will realize that they can't charge your credit card, and will send you a bill for the amount you owe which won't be reversed until you return the item to them within the 14 day grace period.

I just got an email from Apple this morning saying that they have shipped my order via TNT!!! But it hasn't left China yet according to the TNT tracking website. Looks like I will have a few options: a)Contact Apple and give them the details of my new credit card and then sell the base model I had purchased for me yesterday at Apple Store Chermside; b) I go into hiding from Apple's hitsquad and keep it; c) I return the CTO MBP to Apple Store Chermside; At this stage A is looking like the likely option.

If you log into the US version of the store (http://store.apple.com/us) instead of the UK one you seem to get slightly more information. Unfortunately I've yet to make any sense of the information provided there either, though my understanding of things is that once things reach the UK we'll be assigned a new shipping code, typically with TNT, that we can use to track things from there on out.

Which is frustrating when you have no idea what's happening with international deliveries due to all this volcanic ash messing with flights.

I ordered mine on Wednesday and the status now says 'being prepared for shipment' when I clicked on the 'order cancel' button.

I say about blinkin' time! What happenned to the much highly regarded Chinese work ethic and their sweatshops? Its all myths and lies I'm tellin' ya!!!

wow... so after talking to UPS today I was told my computer hadn't left China and wouldn't arrive til the 27th. I just checked for kicks and lookie lookie.

ANCHORAGE, AK, US 19/04/2010 15:02 ARRIVAL SCAN

so i guess calling UPS is pretty useless since they don't have much of an idea either.

Haha, aw, mine's on the same plane as yours! Ordered a 15.4/2.53/7200rpm500gb/HR Glossy last Wednesday. Live in Rhode Island.

As long as I get it by Friday, I think I'll be all right....
