Oh well, mine shipped out of Shanghai relatively early and it's scheduled delivery date was tomorrow anyways. I guess I'll get it tomorrow. I do find that 3:17 AM "in transit" record interesting though.

Same flight as you. Now the question is where to from here? I am in NY on Long Island. Hopefully I will bypass Memphis and go straight to Newark and then here. This has been one screwy weekend. I can't believe that such valuable cargo is left for close to 48 hours without being shipped. The only saving grace is that I was not billed until shipping on the 17th. My credit card cycle closed the 16th. I get a month to scratch together the money.

Indeed. I suspect this was FDX24 NRT-ANC. I'm guessing FedEx has PVG-NRT flights since they do have some hubbing going on in Asia, I just have no idea how to track them...

Somewhat answers the mystery of the 3:20am "in transit" scanned packages, at least!

24 hr shipping on the website turned into 3 day shipping...
and then managing to find a plane (if they actually have yet!) has taken 4 days...
And it's suppose to be here in MIchigan on the 22nd?
I highly doubt that.

It's still possible that you did go out on FDX1471 or FDX1401. Though they do seem to be better at posting departure and arrival scans for stuff within the US.

...or you could be on a truck from Memphis down to the Dallas area. Would still get it to you by tomorrow if that "in transit" was a truck leaving.

Edit: Er, I guess your lack of a customs scan makes that less likely. But who knows. It took an hour and a half of FDX1406 being in the air for it to update me with the departure scan.

It just refreshed, just look again after a while, maybe yours is not scanned yet. Mine also has the 21st as delivery date (Minneapolis).

for me I had it shipped on the 17th but it didnt actually ship until monday yesterda. Its tuesday morning 8:15 and its gone from china to ankorage to kentucky and now hamilton onario and currently on a truck to toronto all in 1 day. They said I may expect it today otherwise tomorrow and my expected is the 21st. Thought that might give you some hope

You probably just arrived in Anchorage on what I again assume is FDX24 NRT-ANC, since you had one of those 3:20am 2nd "in transit" scans. Should get an arrival scan and a customs scan soon. They don't all happen at once, seems to happen over 15 - 45 minutes as stuff is unloaded. They could get your package down to Michigan tomorrow easily, so perhaps even "early!" In fact, even if it was still in Shanghai, and didn't ship out until TOMORROW, it could still get there by the 22nd!

If you did pay for expedited, I hope you have called Apple and gotten your $18 back.

Now I'm beginning to worry. I ordered on the 15th at Noon and hav had the same "Not Yet Shipped" status since. Today is the 3rd business day so I was hoping to see a status change. Instead, my bank account no longer has that hold by Apple.

Is this typical? Do they release the hold just before charging or should I be genuinely worried?

Assuming my MBP goes out for delivery today (which is fairly certain having arrived at the local delivery facility half an hour ago), I'll be pretty happy with FedEx.

My problem with FedEx is that my FedEx delivery guy really sucks compared to my UPS delivery guy. If I have an AM delivery, the FedEx guy buzzes once, and leaves if I don't hit the buzzer to let him into the lobby within like 15 seconds. It seems like he has the sticky notice slip already made out, practically, since even running downstairs I've missed him more than once. The UPS guy will buzz me 2 or 3 times if it's an AM delivery, and if it's something heavy (say > 50lbs that I wouldn't want to carry up 2 flights of stairs), he'll have it wheeled over to the elevator by the time I rush downstairs to sign. I guess this really depends on your local delivery folks...I've had places where the opposite was true. I just happen to have a great UPS driver and a mediocre FedEx driver.

But if I get my MBP today, I'll be extra-happy with FedEx, for not retardedly delaying it after it left Shanghai. I was pretty happy with them a couple months ago when I had a fairly important overnight package coming from Dallas...shipped on a Thursday on one of those days when Dallas was having freak snowstorms again. It missed the Thursday flight out due to that, so went out on Friday. They actually delivered it on Saturday even though it wasn't shipped as a Saturday package. Pretty sure UPS would have held it until Monday in that situation.

OH MY GOD! I think I just figured it out! I just noticed on his tracking# it reads: "Weight
5.1 kg/11.2 lbs "

So mine must be the other 5.1 kg! And that's why it went thru customs twice, a scan for each MBP! hopefullly...

Ooh, but it could work. Pounds are weight, but kilograms are mass! If we ship through somewhere with twice the gravity, then those 5.1kg can indeed be doubled to be 11.2lbs!

I suspect it would take a long while to ship a MacBook Pro through a near-Jovian approach that hits the right gravity target, though...maybe a slingshot around the Sun instead?

I'd say that with current info, I can't really even take an educated guess until you get a second "in transit" scan. Look for one around 9PM or 11PM (local time) today. That'll put you on the ANC or MEM flight. See mini-FAQ in sig for more info... (I need to update that with the info we have on what appear to be PVG-NRT-ANC flights now, too...)

Check your email for a cancellation notice. Happened to me when I tried getting more than one MBP with a student discount.
