So, like many others, I wake up this morning to find:

12 Jun 2007 09:00 Pudong International Airport Potential Linehaul Delay Due To Technical Problems
12 Jun 2007 09:00 Pudong International Airport Potential Connection Delay
11 Jun 2007 09:00 Pudong International Airport Potential Linehaul Delay Due To Technical Problems
11 Jun 2007 09:00 Pudong International Airport Potential Connection Delay
10 Jun 2007 18:12 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot
09 Jun 2007 12:05 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point
09 Jun 2007 09:14 Shanghai Consignment Picked Up

I am certainly, again sadly like others, not impressed at being told in no uncertain terms that there were no issues with the delivery - while in reality the plane was broken down in Pudong International Airport.

If they can't keep track of a plane, what chance do they have of tracking a package???

Hmm I doubt it.

It would be great but I'll lay shorts odds on Monday or more likely Tuesday.

I wonder if it's TNT who are delivering locally as I'll have to take a day off/arrange with boss to work from Home on the day of delivery.

Either that or pick up from the depot, which I thought I'd do the last time I bought from the store only to find out the depot was in Larkhall - 40 miles away!

I have no car and can't drive so I'm stuffed if I need to go to the depot :(

you guys with the busted plane

have you just ordered a laptop and nothing else?

i think all the ones that have to merge with other products got handled by a different company, but go to the EDC. i think the straight orders jus go direct with TNT. youd hope that was the faster option.... but i guess not.

this whole thing stinks. i mean the shipping times alone are unacceptable...but to have this crap foisted upon it as well is just taking the michael

Looks like I am in the same boat as the rest of you guys regarding my MBP order. Here's the latest from TNT this morning.

Disappointed to say the least. Everything was pointing towards a delivery date of the 14th, now it looks like next week at the earliest.
When you pay a premium for a notebook, you expect a prompt delivery. This is my first experience shopping with the Apple store, and quite frankly its not one I'm going to be inclined to repeat. My disappointment is about equally shared between TNT and Apple. TNT for having a useless tracking system and equally pathetic logistics (a plane sitting for two days in an extremely busy international airport?!?!) and Apple for not having a decent warehouse of equipment in the UK, or at least somewhere in Europe. You would think that when a new product is launched, someone might have the good sense to anticipate demand and do something about it.
*rant over*
Sorry for the bitterness, but I think most people here a feeling a little of it right now:( .

Yeh i think we have ordered laptops without accessories

I think we've already ascertained this. :)

But yes, for me, just a MBP 15.4" 2.4GHz with nothing else... I thought it would be quicker... Silly me...

Curretn time: Wednesday June 13 7.08am

Jun 13, 2007 6:55 AM
At local FedEx facility
ST LAURENT, PQ

I live in MTL so basically, its gonna be at my door in less than 5hours. can't wait!!!! from then, I'll tell you everything you want from geekbench lcd screen, battery life etc.
Keep waiting for those of you that has been delayed. The same happened with my ipod but it just arrived 1 days after the estimation date.

I don't have a problem with the Apple side of things, but TNT are shocking. The worst part, like others have stated, I myself rang TNT several times to confirm that it would be 'out for delivery' today. Each time they told me everything was fine.

I took today off as holiday from work to be in, which now means i'll have to do the same next week.

It's amazing that an international company like TNT didn't a) communicate with it's customers until today (3 days in limbo on the tracking, and even the UK staff didn't know) and b) leave a cargo plane (and bear in mind it's not an exclusive Apple flight, so there are plenty of other customers/businesses goods on that plane i presume) sat idle for two, possibly three days. Surely common sense would be to move to another flight and have one day maximum delay.

Although it's annoying I don't mind waiting a little bit extra for my new MPB, i just want to be kept informed, which TNT have failed to do.

Yup just the MBP.

I toyed with updating my Airport but didn't want to slow down delivery.

The next big question is has the plane taken off yet or it sitting in bits on the tarmac.

Actually that's a thought how hot & humid is it in Shanghi at the mo and more importantly how hot & humd is it in the plane...

Well FWIW I spoke to TNT again earlier and they assure me it will now be delivered tomorrow (though to be fair that's what I was told Monday and Tuesday about Wednesday). Apple's 'order management' people are also looking into it.

Any wagers?

I spoke with TNT this morning and was told that Apple chooses the cheapest shipping alternative with them. This means that the Apple packages are shipped "when there is free space" and have no guaranteed spots on the planes. Consequently when a plane brakes down the Apple stuff may be removed from functioning planes in order for other packages (that have paid for guaranteed space) to ship...

Weak!

I just called TNT and was told that they attempted delivery. Thats weird as I have been sat at home all day and have not had a card through the door! My neighbour accross the street has been working on his car all day and hasn't seen a TNT van!

I asked why i had not had a card through the door and that I can see my front driveway from the room that I was sitting in and no one had been. After being put on hold for 5 minutes I was then told that the item should only be delivered on the 15th!

I told them how they had stated delivery today, as had apple, and asked why it was marked as out for delivery if it wasn't at all, and aslo how if it wasn't out for delivery how they attempted delivery?!?!!!

They had no answer for this. They have assured me that it is coming to me this afternoon but the whole thing seems suspect. ie; did the driver just go and smoke cigarrettes this morning and mark all of his delveries as "no one at home"

Mine is still in Shanhai (since saturday no move, damn). merge-in-transit,
i hoped mine could get @ yesterday's night flight, but nothing happened.

yeah, the wait, while annoying would be so much less infuriating if there was at least some half way decent tracking info.

It's reallt strange. Also the fact that the plane scheduled later arrived in Arnhem earlier. Oh wait, we have a plane stuck, shall we put the contents into the next plane? Well, no, then we will have to get up from our lazy asses and do something.

One point is that it's not free shipping even. I propose Apple has some negotiations with TNT, as these prices look extremely high.

I have rung Apple and the person I spoke gave me his e-mail address to get things sorted out if there are any questions. I told him that I am fed up with Apple choosing TNT, but he was unable to say something about it.... ok.

I will wait until this afternoon, maybe it shows up today in Arnhem, otherwise I will be asking for weekend delivery. Given the fact that TNT told twynne it will be delivered tomorrow let's me think that's gonna be the plan of TNT as well.

I mean, Apple Store was relatively cheap and Apple retailers are not in the area here, but otherwise, they would have lost a customer.

wow, considering you can pay over £2000 for a mbp + customisations, you'd think they'd go with a little more than cheapest freight going. thats something i expect from someone like play.com or tesco

Anyone know how long the flight takes from shanghai to Holland. My flight has departed today with an expected time of arrival on the 15th. I presume the ETA is when the item is delivered to the courier.

Is TNT the only courier Apple UK use? Do I get an email from apple to say when then courier will deliver?

Thanks

well apple justy changed the site to say estimated delivery yesterday! When i spoke to him he said that its just been booked in in the UK and is being handed to the courier in the next 24hrs so expect it by Friday

Fair enough i'm hella angry at TNT at the moment but they'vs delivered 4 macs to me in my lifetime without much incident.

Apart from my 1st 17" MBP which sat in Shanghai for 4 days...

Yeah, I agree!

Not defending TNT (as I have had poor experiences with them unrelated to Apple) the fact that the Apple stuff gets on and off planes according to available space would also explain why the tracking seems so strange with the same package being shuffled from on schedule to off schedule all the time...

I can feel my hopes rising again, but i can only see that as possible if they got on a plane yesterday afternoon straight to the UK. To be fair though, those times on TNT i am assuming are Chinese times, thus it has been almost 36 hours since:

They told me that to for my last mac.... told me that had Apple paid for proper shipping it would have left Amsterdam and got on a boat and been in the UK the same day. As it is TNT drive Apple stuff to the UK taking over 24hrs!
