greyhouse and anirban, I think our MBPs might get acquainted as they might be on the same shipment out of China. Has anyone's card been charged yet?

My order just changed also:

Ships by: Jun 12 - Jun 14
Delivers by: Jun 14 - Jun 19

which really is on par with what the people that I have been talking to at the Apple store have told me. My total price just changed, and for shipping it now says 2 day but the shipping charge is $0.00.
I wonder if I have to call my credit card company again and change the pre-authorized charge amount to reflect the $12 shipping difference now. Is anyone in the same boat now?

Hmmm, I should give them a call too. I paid for 2-day shipping and from what I understand this isn't available on orders from China. It still says $18.00 for shipping on my invoice.

I ordered mine on June 10th, but I might as well have ordered it Monday because they don't process anything in the weekend.

I haven't been charged, but they definitely did the pre-auth on my credit card. I guess they do the real charge once it actually ships.

I can't stand this waiting.

EDIT: here is mine:

Order Date: Jun 11, 2007 at 07:36 AM PDT

Lame!! I ordered on the 5th at 8:00am PST and still nothing - I just called Apple and they said that it should ship on the 19th. I live in Nevada (US) I do not see how everyone else is getting theres so fast!

I Hate Waiting...... Let's take a poll on who hates to wait?

I don't get it either. My brother ordered a MBP on the Thursday (7th) and he got it on Tuesday (12th). Standard shipping (to Pennsylvania).

Did you get the 5400rpm or 7200rpm drive?

I got the 5400rpm version. Mine is the base 15" model. I really can't believe that Apple doesn't have a stock of at least the base models in a US warehouse for quicker shipment. C'mon, the stores have them, don't tell me each store had them from direct flights from China. There's got to be a warehouse full of the MBPs in California somewhere..

Went into the mall a couple days ago! Grabbed the 17" High-Res Matte w/ 160gb 7200rpm. They had in stock believe it or not! Yorkdale Mall in Toronto!

so maybe those of us who ordered during the weekend or monday should see theirs get shipped out tonight. *crossing fingers*

Just another "me too". I ordered Monday afternoon with upgrade to the 160GB 5400RPM drive and it hasn't shipped yet. I did, however, also order a 23" ACD, which arrived today. Now I've got a pretty screen and nothing to hook it up to :-( Shame the iMac and Macbook only have the Mini DVI ports. This thing sure does look nice sitting next to my 20" iMac, and I can't even fire it up!

OK so I've been on the phone with 3 different Apple store people and then a Developer Connection manager and they confirmed that all new MBP 15" with the LED backlight are going to be shipped from China. I paid extra for the overnight shipping and the manager said that the store people made a mistake in thinking that you can get 2nd day or standard overnight shipping since the product comes from China and has to stay in customs for at least 24 hours. The overnight and 2nd day shipping are only available to products that are available in US warehouses, and for all overseas shipments the standard 2-3 day shipping applies.
Initially my order said that the MBP would get shipped June 12-14 and get delivered June 13-15, but that is supposedly not accurate. My order will hopefully ship out from China by June 14th, but I'll get it maybe June 18-19 if I'm lucky..
If they had some Apple stores in South Carolina and I didn't have my developer's discount, I would pick one up from the store.. I guess I'm stuck waiting

Yeah, I learned the hard way too. Apple treated me well and refunded the 2 day shipping (+ a bit extra for "my inconvenience, which was mighty fine of them).

Also, I learned something interesting from FedEx:
Apple has a contract with FedEx (I presume only for N.American destinations) that allows for a 2 week delivery time for items from China. As andreio mentioned, it precludes the "Express Shipping" that was mistakenly enabled on the new MBP orders.

It's just a kick in balls because I could've bought the same stock 2.2 15.4" at my local reseller, on Sunday. Next time, I'll be asking Apple if the item is shipping directly from China. If yes, I'll be taking a pass and going through a local reseller as I'm guessing that their orders get shipped prior to availability to the general public.

when did you place your order? and what is your status now? are our MBPs on the same shipment from China?

I wouldn't be surprised if the supposed problems at Pudong affect all orders leaving from China. It wouldn't make much sense if there were just one block of orders that can't be delivered and more recent orders get through. If that were the case, they could just resubmit the 'stuck' orders at the top of the queue.

The last 'real' update on my shipping was 18:12 on 10th June, so for 3.5 days now (approx) the order has just been sitting at the airport. Your luck may be better if TNT isn't in the picture, but I have little understanding of what the process is before the orders leave China.

I wouldn't bet on it. I ordered my stock (except for the glossy screen) MBP 2.2GHz at 9am last Wednesday (June 6th) and it still has not shipped.

Why is it that people that have ordered days after I did already getting theirs??? and mine has not even shipped yet...

I ordered mine on Monday as well (around the afternoon PST) and here's what I have:

Ships by: Jun 13 - Jun 15
Delivers by: Jun 15 - Jun 20

I'm in LA and the iPod only took 2 days from the time it left China, so I'm really hoping I get the same turn on the MBP. It has the 7200RPM drive so I'm hoping they're not faking me out with this.

The wait is KILLING ME!!!!!!! I think I've read every piece of literature on the internet about this computer.

I think the glossy screen is what might have delayed yours more than other people's who ordered theirs in your timeframe.

I called the Apple store again and the rep said that there are no known delays at their facilities in China.. so basically wait it out until tomorrow when it's supposed to ship out by and call if nothing changes then.

We're on different shipments.

I place my order on June 6th. It was shipped from Shanghai on the 8th, and arrived in Anchorage on the 9th. Arrived Memphis on the 10th, where it sat (in US customs, I'm pretty sure) for two days. Supposedly it's been in Mississauga since the 12th. If it clears Canadian customs today, then I'll likely see it tomorrow, otherwise it will be on Friday.

A full 5 days later than I could've had one, had I purchased it at the local reseller.

I'm not _mad_ now that I know exactly why the shipping is taking longer than I expected (and both Apple and FedEx have treated me well on the phone). However, I will be furious (mainly at myself) if the product is anything less than perfect as I could've purchased from a reseller, inspected it before I bought it, and saved myself a ton of time.

Thinking further about this, has anyone seen in their own tracking results a shipment that actually LEFT China AFTER 18:12 on 10th June??

Mine did. I ordered the 17" with HR screen, everything else standard. I hope this helps in the mystery overseas. I'm frustrated for everyone else. I don't understand why they can't get these things out on other flights. I feel for you guys, really!!

I was beginning to think mine was the only one that was different. Everyone else's went through Alaska, but ours went right to Memphis. Where is your going? Mine is coming up to Canada. I called FedEx today to ask them for some more detail about the shipment (as I was told on the 11th that it would be here today-sadly it wasn't :( ) to make sure it is still on time, and they said it's taking a flight tonight from Memphis to Calgary and will be delivered tomorrow (of course depending on customs)
As far as I've been able to track, there is only 1 FedEx flight each day to Calgary at around 6:30am, and it comes from Memphis (UPS arrives usually 1/2 hour later. So my MBP got to spend the day in Memphis, and will most likely leave around 3am tomorrow to come here. I sure hope it is, the morning is wide open to be able to play around (and then get back to work;) )

Very, very similar to mine as well, but mine is coming to southeastern Ontario.

I think I may give FedEx a call as well.
