Why do you think that it will take so long? Did you go with the free shipping option?

Yeah I went with the free option. From past experiences with Apple products being shipped from China to me (Alberta, Canada) it takes a long time.

China to Alaska over my house to Memphis out east to Mississigua for customs then to Edmonton and then another day to my town.

They canceled my order!

I ordered the 15", SR MBR on Jun 5, scheduled shipment Jun 6-8. I called in to upgrade to overnight shipping and they accidentally canceled my order. They put the order back but now est shipping not until next week! And they say they can't fix their mistake

Whoohoo. I've waited since... November, I think, for this upgrade. It'll be my first mac since a beige G3 that stopped booting a long time ago (its previous owner heavily upgraded it... when it got to the point where the thing was more powerful than the later blue G3 models, he had the chasis painted with blue metal-flake automotive paint, lol).

Anyway, as anxious as I am to get this thing and get back to the glory that is OSX, I can wait. As long as it's here before I go out of town on the 20th, I'm good. I've been fighting with what has seriously become the slowest-reacting, least reliable winhell box I've ever seen (at this point, if it could run a modern browser, I'd seriously take a 486 machine over this thing)... so mac OSX is going to make my life incredible whenever it does happen. And the 2.2ghz SR C2D, 2 gigs of ram deal? Yeah, that's nice, too. I'm pretty thankful.

Now shipping in Australia

My stock 2.2ghz just shipped from Sydney, even though the order confirmation estimated shipping by 20 June. Should be in my hands by lunchtime tomorrow!

I ordered the low end MBP with 160gb HD about 20 minutes after they went online... still hasn't shipped out yet :(

Consider me a very sad future macbook owner. Mine didn't ship today, and even if it ships tomorrow it won't be here until Monday. It's going to be a *LONG* weekend.

Same here; well, a stock 2.4Ghz, but still. Kept it stock so I'd get it faster, RAM I can do myself for several hundred dollars cheaper. I called Apple this morning -- as per the Australian-related thread hovering around here -- about the wait, and the guy said it would be picked up today by TNT, and that the 'Shipping on the 20th' was just a safety net. TNT has it at their depot now, so it should arrive tomorrow morning for me in Perth. The only issue is that it's going to be difficult to study because I'm waiting for it and backing all my data up onto my external HDD. My nano, wireless mouse and Incase sleeve all arrived this morning though.

Oh, and my homepage is currently the tracking page for my order, hahaha.

Yeah, the 4Gb option is +€ 686,- or something while you can get 4Gb (2*2Gb) SODIMM's for around € 200,- from several webshops. I'm just going to buy a set of those and install them myself :) Much cheaper :p

My order is going to take a while though as I ordered the high-end 15" with 7200rpm harddisk. Ready for shipment estimates 4-6 weeks :S A heck, I have been waiting since may/june last year for this upgrade (mainly because of the GPU) so i can wait a couple of more weeks. And besides my PB (2nd last revision) is still working fine :)

so with a bit of luck...these almost 2 week shippin times for non-US customers could just be apple covering their asses incase something hits the fan.

if all goes well we should get our kit much eariler than estimated

I called Apple and asked their sales rep about the delay on the 7200 RPM drive, and the response I got was that the 4 - 6 week lag is a conservative estimate... they might be ready to ship much sooner... or they might take the full month and a half. I'd be willing to bet that they'll get more of the drives and we'll get the machines well before the projected end of July. And by "I'd be willing to bet" I mean "I am desperately wishing."

I'll join you in your desperate wishing. I was almost tempted to buy a ticket and go help them assemble the damn drives myself, but then I realized I'd be really pissed if someone as dumb as me had assembled my hard drive. So really I'm doing us all a favor by instead sitting here on my butt and complaining.

Hmm strange my shipped date is still June 8th but my estimated delivery is now blank...

Ordered about 10 minutes after the store came back up.

apple still haven't charged my credit card......bought 3 mins after the store came back up and i am still able to cancel the order.

Maybe i should just cancel.

Well based on the number of threads mentioning upgraded/faster shipping I again phoned Apple this morning (UK) and was told they already use the fastest shipping option so it can't be further upgraded.

It must be different for UK vs. US. :(

My 2.4 GHz 15" left Shanghai at 11:47 PM EST last night!

EXACT same time for me. I would assume ours is on the same pallet that is headed for the US to go through customs.

Does anyone know the flight time from Shanghai to the US?

My iPod Nano arrived at Memphis a little after midnight...then it left Memphis at 3:30am yesterday morning, and it was still delivered yesterday afternoon ( I live about 3 hours from Memphis...it went straight from there to my local delivering center). I'm figuring that if my MBP can get to Memphis by midnight tonight...then I will have it for tomorrow. If not, I will be waiting until Monday. :(

I just checked... a commercial flight to Chicago is 13 hours.

Hmm, I suppose it is slightly possible that I will receive mine tomorrow. I am certainly not holding my breath, though.

The only way I can see it happening is if it can make it through customs extremely fast. If it arrives at New Jersey (which is where I believe it will go, according to other things I've read) at noon today (Eastern Time), makes it through customs pretty fast, and then takes a flight from there to Memphis and arrives before midnight tonight...I've got a shot at tomorrow.

I just wish I had an idea of how long it takes at Customs...
