Mine did the same thing after the announcement when the store finally came up it went to "prepared for shipping". Mine has shipped and is somewhere in China. It would be nice to get this by this weekend but I'm not getting my hopes up. Someone at work said that if it was an international delivery that Fed-ex wouldn't deliver on Saturday. I thought it would just relay through the different Fedex facilities and ship on a Sat if need be. I guess we'll see.

so, you ordered on the 3rd and it shipped on teh 7th...that's amazing...did you order the 17"???...or are you just lucky???
Mine is still on "Prepared for Shipment", and we ordered on the same day I even ordered the 2-day shipping.Good for you though!

I called during noon to ask apple support if my MBP, which shipped earlier this morning, contained iLife 08... After a few minutes wait, the techie came back and told me that only items ordered on the 7th or later would contain it, much to my chagrin.
Reading here however, gives me some hope! Maybe i should call back an verify it?
My mac is in Anchorage too~ Does anyone suppose they will fly it closer (I live on the east coast) or will they drive it here?

Now it's "Departed FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK". This thing is flying! Maybe they got your shipping and mine mixed up. I hope yours ships soon. When it does it will fly.

you'd think you would get it at the store
if you just want get the stock model for an MBP why ship it? I say you just buy it at the store if you are going to spend that much money they can even do the edu discount at the store. The HD in an MBP is not very protected so it could easily get damaged if the package is dropped.

I called during noon as well, they told me at first that I would be getting the old software because it wasn't ordered on the 7th. Then she put me on hold, looked at my order, went and talked to someone and came back and said with complete confidence that I would be getting iLife 08 and ran down the programs and told me about he trial of iWork 08. She seems completely certain. And said that any orders shipped on the 7th or after would have it. There's a possibility that she's wrong and I'm watching out for that. I don't want to base this whole thing on what one person said. So please do call again and see if you get another person and see what they say. But man I'm thinking if yours, mine and several other people's all shipped on basically the same day then we're good. I'm in TN, I wonder if it gets flown here or delivered by truck as well. Looking back a page or two in this thread someone else got theirs from AK to Memphis TN in about a day. I'm thinking they air deliver it.
My 17" CTO that I ordered on the 5th shipped this morning. The status has been on 'Shipment exception' all day. Does anyone know what that means? I am hoping to get it by monday.
That's interesting. The same thing happened to my iPod when Fedex came to my door, but I wasn't there to sign.
That's the thing. Fedex doesn't have an expected delivery date up there. The only thing I have is Apple's delivered by estimate of the 13th. It said it left Shanghai so I wonder what the hold up could be.

Mine sat in 'prepared for shipment' for about 24 hours. I was happy to see it had shipped -- only to be delayed. Did you just use the free shipping? I did.
Mine JUST shipped within the last 15 minutes.

They said they could easily cancel the MBP order and then re-enter it, which would guarantee ilife 08. Normally that would be fine with me, but due to time constraints, I can't let the shipping be delayed any further. I explained my situation and they offered me iLife 08 separately for 50% off. I thought this was fair, so I did it. The Macbook Pro itself still hasn't shipped yet..hopefully tomorrow.

After 9 weeks, my MBP still hasn't arrived. Seriously starting to wonder whether or not it will ever appear...

I saw someone else in another thread was told the same thing I was. Hmmm...I guess I'll wait and see what comes on mine. I saw somewhere that if you filled out the form for iLife 08 with a Aug 7th date that it gave it to you for $10. I might do that if I doesn't come with it.
