Just off phone with apple

Just got off phone with apple. I asked why others after me have gotten their iPad and he said the natural disaster is effecting production and shipping times. I said "The tsunami in Japan is effecting my iPad in china?" He said yes. I asked if he knew when mine might ship and he said they are trying as fast as they can to get them out due to demand. He said he realizes how frustrating it is to have others ship after mine but they are doing everything they can to get them out.
I asked about expediated shipping, after several seconds of silence, he said "sure I can do that for you but it won't affect when it first gets shipped, only the time it takes after that to get to you." I asked about a free cover and he said no. I stated others have gotten credit for a free cover, after several seconds of silence, he stated that I could get a free cover for the inconvenience. I picked the leather black one!
I understand there is absolutely nothing he could do. I know they may not have been told why things are actually messed up over there. I know that things are messed up and it would look bad on apple if they stated why....but I would really just like a reason why. I feel at this point a quick..."Hey things are messed up over there because of XYZ and we are sorry, we are trying to get it out to you." That would make me feel 100 times better than expedited shipping, but the free cover was nice on their part. Seeing others post about how their ipad just showed up on their doorstep and ordered and mine is still "not yet shipped" is frustrating.
Oh well.....nothing more I can do but try and ignore my order status page so I don't drive myself nuts. If something is wrong they might be waiting until late Friday to say something so there is less media attention, who knows.
