Prepared For Shipment...

Looks like a bunch just flipped to "Prepared for Shipment"

Ordered 2:56AM PDT
Prepared for Shipment
IPAD WI-FI 16GB WHITE-USA

Ships: 3 - 5 business days
Delivers: Mar 18 - Mar 25

Now let's see how long it takes to get here....

Not yet shipped.

1:17 am PST

16GB WiFi White. Hoping it will ship soon since some you are starting to see some movement!

Still Waiting it looks like apple is gonna use the full 5 days to wait and ship it out, what a joke. so much for FAST shipping i would rather pay extra to get my product earlier but no they wouldent offer that.

32GB 3G/AT&T Black ordered at 1:28am PDT just flipped to "Prepared for Shipment" - I had called earlier today and asked, politely, why others who'd ordered the same configuration, but after me, were getting their shipping notices already and I was not. Apple is still within their promised shipping window, so I tried to be as polite as possible about it all.

The CSA was standoffish at first but warmed up pretty quick and offered (without prompting from me) to refund the price of the smart cover. I then asked if I could pay to expedite the shipping, whenever it did ship, as I needed it next week. She paused and offered to expedite the shipping to overnight also for free.

Apple still wins in my book. I know the demand is insane and it seems like the system is just about to go off the rails, but it seems like Apple's making it work better than others might in similar conditions. In the end, they're a victim of the fever pitch that they manage to build for their product launches... I mean, seriously, look at us... Apple has yet to miss any promised delivery dates, AFAIK, and yet we're still all somewhere from twitchy to upset (myself included).

Black 64Gb ATT ordered 1:27am PST/4:27am EST just changed to Prepared for Shipment.

I suppose I'll be hitting the refresh button to see a tracking number... ;)

Me too!!!! Now let's see them come through on the overnight shipping once it goes

My White 64GB Wifi finally changed to "prepared for shipment" :D can't believe how happy those three words made me hah

How in the world are they doing this? It seems relatively random.

This is the part that really bothers me. I also saw other orders placed after mine that seemed to ship before me.

You ordered exactly what I did, but ordered it 1 1/2 hours earlier. You would think that yours would flip to "prepared for shipping" before mine. Maybe, just maybe, they are being done in batches and we are all in the same batch and will all, actually, end up shipping at the same time?

The process should just be fair.

We did call to ask about the status of the order (right after the status had changed) and, though it didn't speed up the process in any way, the CS rep offered a credit for the cover - we didn't even ask.

Finally admitted to the "prepared for shipment" club! 64gb gsm ordered at 1:37 am 3/11. Now hoping for a tracking number sometime soon!

Apple is the victim of their own hype: They get people excited about products and willing to buy, then have trouble meeting demand. Most companies would love to have that problem to address.

Someone did say that the new "random order #" system that Apple set up may be to blame here and the more I read, the more that I am starting to believe them.

They probably pick one of the 18 models to ship, and then they process them by order number, but since they are random, we are seeing a lot of cases like this one. First in, first out is worthless if they go by a randomly generated number.

Also got smart cover and free 2-day shipping. She wanted to give me a plastic smart cover but I go the leather!

I made the mistake of ordering one w/the iPad and cheaping out at the time

Of course, I'm not complaining in the least -- Apple had no obligation to do anything for me. They've gone above and beyond all while staying within their original promised timeline.

It's only our ingrained sense of "first come, first served" that seems to be getting trampled here.

did you get an email notifying you of "prepared for shipment" or is that information only available online?

Not sure whether you got an answer but you don't get an email confirmation when it flips to prepared for shipping, only when it ships.

I'm glad for the folks who are seeing "Prepared for the shipment" though personally my order is stuck in that state since Saturday. Ordered little after 1 AM, 16GB ATT 3G model.

are you serious? it's a multi-million dollar fulfillment system, one small mod they made to mask how many they have sold would not have thrown it into a tizzy.

FINALLY!!! :D:D:D
