Its not a coincidence that it's mostly 64gb and AT&T models that aren't shipping yet, I've visited two apple stores and both said AT&T and 64gb models were first to sell out and are obviously most popular. Apple seems to be diverting supplies of those models to retail stores in order to increase lines and publicize a high demand. As a stockholder I'm happy, as a consumer I'm pissed...
 
I believe this is the case... it's the only thing that makes some sense... and I will continue to believe it until a see a ton of people that didnt get engraving posting their ship notices coming from china:D

I haven't opened them yet cause what's the point if I don't have the ipad to put it on.. LOL

Hmmm yours was engraved and got prepared for shipment but his was not and is not yet shipped. Another +1 for the engraving hypothesis.

I was doing the same thing until I saw prepared to ship then I refreshed again to be sure

I think they may be focusing on the engraved ones now because I wasn't seeing any making progress

Nope. The 3-5 days is for shipping. And that is business days. So, counting Friday and today, we are just coming on two business days. Apple has until Thursday to ship them. The delivery on the site clearly states it can be up to 6 more business days until it is delivered.

Ordered my 64GB-AT&T-Black on 12:54A Friday. Amex was charged for both the iPad2 and the Smart Cover (Black Leather). Still stuck on 'not yet shipped' and getting more frustrated with every report that someone else's has gone to 'prepared' or 'shipped.'

Yup, that is fine and all, but it still does not change the fact that you are prematurely bitching. So while you got "your own" problems, this is NOT one of them.

It is so funny to me how all you crybabies know how to come on a forum to whine, but can't read simple shipping and handling details before forking over $600.

lol.. its really only been 1 business day because companies don't usually count the purchase day. We purchased on Friday and they did it this way for a reason, they knew they couldn't meet the demand. Should have been a presale.

A) Look at a calendar. Today is the second business day since you placed your order. That means you have until Friday morning before you should even be the slightest bit disgruntled, nevermind furious.

An entire nation in Asia is very legitimately terrified of an impending nuclear catastrophe, the affects of which would last for generations. People lost their loved ones on Friday. Really?? Why are you on this thread? Why don't you start a thread for people with illogical circular thinking? I won't be joining it. The suffering of others has absolutely nothing to do with how people feel about their own frustrations at any given moment in time. We are not uni-layered beings. It's entirely possible for us to feel almost unbearable grief for the people in Japan and yet be pissed and frustrated that we're waiting longer than Apple promised ("free fast shipping") for our iPads! For that matter, there is so much suffering right here in the good old USA that according to your thinking we should not have a negative feeling about anything ever.

I for one am pissed not just about the shipping delay but also about the usual Apple secretiveness and dishonesty and about the fact that Apple doesn't even have enough respect for its customers to issue timely and accurate information.

64gb 3G AT&T model ordered March 11 at 3:44am EST, not yet shipped.
 
Just talked to someone at Apple (I was looking to switch from wifi to wifi+3G) he said from looking at my order, which was placed on 3/11/11 at 12:46am PST, it should be prepped for shipping either tomorrow or Wednesday. :( I hope he is wrong!!
 
Mine is not schedule to ship until April 11th, I wasn't expecting quick but wanted to get a spot if I get my hands on one at a store I am going to cancel. My AV Adapter is shipping though :)
