How does the mini looks in the new Blue? I’m quite disappointed about Starlight.

The guy at my carrier told me that they have limited stock and asked me which color I wanted. I said anything but pink so he went in the back and brought out the midnight black. I put it in a SUPCASE and you can't see the color of the phone at all. So, for me, color doesn't really matter.

It seems like a lot of people go without a case.

You are the first person I’ve read that doesn’t like Starlight. What didn’t you like about it? Do you normally like the silver/white iPhones?
& @Drosera

From marketing materials it looks almost white. But everyone (YouTube, Gruber…) said that it has a champagne/gold tint. As a man, I never liked gold phones, maybe I’m wrong but I just love white phones. From more pictures and videos I saw it feels to me that this Starlight is no longer white - I know Apple wanted to refresh colours but as I love white iPhones, this is no longer white (-ish) to me. I’m using iPhone without any cases so that's why I’m thinking about Blue. I don’t have any real experience with 13 mini but this is what looked to me from reviews. Maybe I’m wrong (and you know I would be happy to be wrong).

Most YouTube reviews state the back looks like a pure white, and the side rails look silver, or have a champagne hue to them in certain light. Even the men YouTube reviewers seem to always comment on how great the starlight looks. Like you, I like the silver/white phones as well

You have to remember that Apple changes it’s white on almost every phone. My silver XS is considered white, but it’s actually a darker silvery white which can be seen when placed next to a bright white object. I guess my point is, if you place every white iPhone next to each other, they are all going to look different. The real difference in the starlight color is the rails. The back will just look white unless you place it next to a bright white object.

The following video compares the silver (white) Pro model with starlight. They look pretty similar, and both look a shade of white to me.

Thank you. I will surely look at that video, one I missed (maybe from many).

Intrigued to hear more on why you're disappointed too! It's a toss up for me between Starlight and Midnight

Starlight hides finger prints on the rear if your planning to use it without a case, if not then it doesn’t matter both look great.

It also hides the discolouring around the camera lenses that some phones experience.

And also it matches with screws at the bottom as John Gruber pointed out.

Considering this is the last of the 'mini' iPhone series I plan on picking one up at some point. Maybe towards the end of its lifecycle near iPhone 14's release. It's such a great little phone. I can see myself wanting to swap between a Pro Max and Mini depending on what I'm doing that day.

Please do share a picture of your new hotrod!

I'm especially finding that you with big hands have no issues typing on the mini which is contradictory to so many others with big hands complaining typing on the mini or small phones. I'm curious if you have a screen protector on yours (which kind) or not?

I'm suspecting those that dislike the small mini keyboard or having issues typing on it maybe due to a poor screen protector choice??
Yep, I'll use the girlfriend's 13 Pro Max and snap a pic. No screen protector. Heh. Were those having issues 5s users back in the day? :) Maybe some of us have better "muscle memory" for the narrower keyboard. :)

Me, I always missed my 5s. Wasn't willing to sacrifice features and get an SE. As far as I'm concerned the mini should have the same features as the Pro Max. :D

I really like the Starlight color. Saw it in person over the weekend and it's now my preferred color. Don't care for the Midnight. It has a lot more blue tone to it in natural light than pictures show online. It is not anywhere close to black like some reviewers are saying. I see it as a deep, deep, dark navy blue more than black. In a room with artificial lighting I can see how black would be the dominant color but in natural light it's definitely a blue.

I had the 13 Mini in Starlight for the first week after launch, and when I put it down side by side against my white 12 Mini, I really struggled to see any difference at all. Both seemed simply white, and as my wife said when I was doing that- aside from the camera setup looking different, she couldn't tell the devices apart.

I’m grateful to read all of the reports of overheating and battery health issues. My 12 mini kept getting warm and the battery health is at 88% after 11 months of use. I’ve never had a phone’s battery health degrade like that before.

I went from a 12 mini to a 13 Pro and finally settled on a product RED 13 mini. So far the battery life is noticeably improved and it runs cool. I really liked some of the camera features on the Pro but the weight and size of the 13 mini is excellent.

This is also the first phone I could easily see using without a case. The smaller size and weight makes it much easier to hold than the Pro model.

Oh and the red shade this year is fantastic. I’m not a bold colour guy but I love the way this red looks.

I have a Starlight 13 mini. It has a white back. Only starlight about it is the aluminum sides which matches the iPad mini 6. I love the color.

I went into the Apple store yesterday and saw and held a Mini for the first time ever. It’s a really beautiful phone.

Still debating whether I’m going to upgrade from my XR, but if I do it would be to the blue (which was gorgeous) or starlight.

I think starlight might be the safest option, as 1) I put a case on anyway, and 2) I got the blue AW series 6 but regretted it after a while and wished I’d gone for silver.

Upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 13 mini. Not feeling restricted at all: the screen size is fine (even for my old eyes) and the battery life enough for a day of (typically for me: not-intensive) use. I love the size and weight of the phone in my pocket (this is something that bothered me with the normal-sized iPhone)

The smaller notch this year makes the iPhone 13 mini look like a typical iPhone screen (unlike the 12 mini which has a comparatively humongous notch relative to screen width).

The dark cherry leather magsafe wallet looks good with the starlight and takes up the full width of the phone, making it good to grasp or lay on a flat surface. The aluminum band colour is a warm silver compared to the cold silver of the iPhone 11, otherwise the back colour of both phones looks the same.

Keeping this phone caseless.
