This. Especially since it’s not available on Roku. I haven’t used my Apple TV box in forever. Now I have to go there just for this app. Annoying. It would be nice if they had HBO Max inside the Apple TV app. I’ve tried to get away from stand-alone apps as much as possible, I like the interface consistency of everything in one place. (and no, I don’t watch much Netflix - I find most of their shows and movies overrated)
They have no idea what's going on. So far they've wanted me to reset my router and restart my devices. I've been transferred to 4 different agents in 3 departmentsUpdate on what they say please. I have the 1GB Fiber and get an error message as well.

May 26 2020:OK so I started something via the HBO Max app and then HBO Max showed up in the TV app on my iOS devices. It still doesn’t show up in the TV app on my Roku TV. Is that TV app different than the one on iOS devices?

You Can't Watch HBO Max On Roku Yet, But Here's How You Can Still Access The App
There's some good news and bad news, Roku users. The bad? You can't watch HBO Max on Roku. The good? There are still a lot of other ways to watch the app. Your first option is to sign up through HBO Max's official website, where a subscription will…www.bustle.com
Ok, for everyone with an AT&T Fiber account that qualifies for the free plan here is what I had to do to get the account setup after it would not work initially.
The source of my problem, which I found out through a Chat with a very helpful AT&T rep, was that the user ID for my AT&T account was a user name rather than an email address. To change your AT&T Access ID, just click on "Person" icon located on top right corner of the page. Then click on "Manage Profile". On Profile, then click "Sign In Info" to change Access ID.
Once I did this it prompted me to log out and then back in with my new user ID (email address) and password. Once I did there was a prompt on the Account Overview page (the main page when you login) to setup the HBO Max account. That went off without a hitch from there.
Hope this helps.

There will not be an Apple Channel for this.Right now you need the stand alone app. As far as I can see to get the extra backlog catalog. Not even showing up as an appletv channel for hbo max yet.
Unfortunately no, my userID is an email address. I was able to click on Get Started and even got an email saying WElcome to HBO Max. But when logging in to HBOMax it can't find my subsciption info. AT&T says theres a "known issue" and it should be resolved soon. Who know at this pointThis helpful for you?

HBO Max Now Available on Apple TV and iOS Devices

I'm still confused about this. I have HBO as an AppleTV+ channel. Did that change to HBO Max or do I need to cancel that and download an HBO Max app?
Concerning platforms:Have to say, the HBO situation is pretty dumb. Just make it one thing, HBO, and have that rolled into all services, channels, apps, across all platforms/devices. I don't see how anyone couldn't agree. Maybe they wanted a slow roll out considering there isn't anything on there that is worthwhile?
I am not enjoying my "experience" with HBO Max.
First of all, and this is huge to me, there is no 4K or HDR video quality. I have a massive new 4K TV and I cannot stand to watch shows in lower quality, especially ones like Doom Patrol which are available in 4K in the DCU app.
Second, I signed up to this because I expected a bunch of the DCU shows would be on HBO Max. Instead, all I see is Doom Patrol. Horrible bait and switch.
Finally, the originals (not HBO, but HBO Max originals) suck!
Originals:
- Elmo Late Show - good for kids, not adults.
- Legendary drag queen-fest, excuse me while I vomit in the corner.
- Love Life - about a living sex doll, wtf, no.
- Craftopia? The less said about that the better.
- The only decent thing is "On the Record," which Apple rejected unfortunately because Oprah nixed it.
Disney+ is leagues better than HBO Max, in my opinion. I wish these shows would have stayed on Hulu (looking at you, Rick and Morty), which is also far superior to HBO Max. Apple TV+ had far better originals than HBO Max at launch (not referring to classic HBO originals, only HBO Max originals).
