I have ATT 1000 and when I go to set up my account via the ATT website I get an error. Anyone else?

I am also an ATT gigabit subscriber, but I signed up about 10 months ago, so just wondering if this is a special promo for new subscribers only, or if you happen to know if it works for current subscribers as well? I tried signing in and got the same error as you.

EDIT: Sorry, for all of the edits, but I sovled it. Anyone with ATT internet 1000 gets this for free, but you must first sign onto your ATT account page on a desktop browser to activate the offer. Once you sign in, you will see a link to activate HBO Max to your account. Once you click on this, you can go to the hbo max site and sign in with ATT. That first step to activate it on your ATT account page is important, or you'll get an error that it isn't a part of your plan. I successfully signed up and signed in.

Shame still no HBO Tales From the Crypt series or Titans series from DC Universe

Another "Tales" fan! Yay!

"Tales From the Crypt" will most like never be on any HBO streaming service. As far as I could discern, HBO actually doesn't own the rights to it. It was one of the earliest original shows on HBO and the licensing was weird. I think Gaines publishing has control over it still to this day. And, I don't think HBO is going to pay to stream it since the audience for it would be small today.

I never see "Tales" go on sale on iTunes. To buy all of it would cost you $130. If all the seasons went on sale for say $60, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Has anyone had any issues with subtitles or CC playing despite the setting turned off? Anyone know how to fix this?

Really disappointed that it requires the HBO Max app. What’s the point of subscribing through Apple Channels? (Rhetorical, obviously there isn’t one, which is exactly the point.)

Given how extraordinarily lousy the streaming quality of the HBO Now app is/was, I don’t even plan on downloading the Max app.

Might just be time to cancel my subscription. I’m tired of how lazy HBO is with their product development. (When I showed them photos of how bad GoT looked on my TV, their response was that they don’t recommend playing their content on 4K TVs .)
There is no point of subscribing through Apple Channels, which is why Apple removed it from Apple Channels. As for the bitrate, it's double that of HBO Now's apps.

“HBO Max is currently capped to 1080p HD but there is some consolation. HBO Max delivers 1080p at twice the bitrate compared to HBO Now - 3x compared to HBO in Europe“

Looks like the HBO channel inside the Apple TV app is doomed. Existing channel subscribers can continue to use it, but have to use the HBO Max app to access the additional Max content. But the HBO channel is no longer available for new subscribers.

How do we get billed I wonder? Noticed that this morning.

From what I understand as an existing channel subscriber you continue to be billed through Apple/iTunes. In order to use the HBO Max app for the additional content, you sign in with Apple TV as a "TV provider".

When subscribing directly in the HBO Max app, iTunes billing (as opposed to a credit card) is also still an option.

I just want to keep my 3% Daily Cash.
I wasn’t able to sign in using Apple TV as my provider because Hulu was already set as the provider for the Apple TV. I had to use an HBO account.

Tip: you can often get iTunes gift cards for 15% off ...

I believe you can alternatively enter TV provider credentials directly in the HBO Max app as one of the sign-in options. Just select "no" when it asks if you want to use the system-wide provider, it then offers a list.

I'm impressed by the amount of content it has...of different content. Many of the streaming services all stream basically the same thing except for their "original" content. HBO Max has a bunch of movies that aren't on other services at least. They have a ton of classic movies too that are curated by TCM. Got to watch some movies I haven't seen in years. Plus, they'll be adding more and more stuff.

I like to alternate from month to month with different streaming services. I haven't had cable TV in over 15 years now. It's all been content that's online, usually using the Apple TV to stream it to my TV. Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Tubi and now HBO Max. I don't subscribe to all at once, but unlike cable, I can't pick and choose from a month to month basis on what I want to see/catch up on.

I have to say HBO Max is fantastic. It's actually insane and a little concerning as to how much content is on there. They own so much media it's ridiculous.

Yeah, it's basically them and Disney that own almost of all the back catalogs. Netflix is going to have mostly original content that they create in the future.

As for my original signin question, I had to go back and sign out from the default FiOS login and use the AppleTV login as suggested since that’s where the HBO billing was (from the channel).

Now that the channel is gone/going away, I wish they would have told us in advance so we could have used that pre-deal for both HBO/Max! All they said is that channel users would be upgraded for free, not that the channel would be dropped. Another article I read implies providers don’t like channels and aren’t going to use them (new providers). Seems so as no majors (new ones) are integrating with them.

Not that particular error, but I did get held up at the link your account stage. They said they would send a code to my email and it never showed up. Tried 20-30 times throughout the day but it just wouldn't show up... until about an hour ago. I've been getting email alerts for the last hour with my one time code. 27 so far... Anyway, I did finally get logged in.

What happened to the free Max access for those that have the HBO Channel? I don’t see it working.

Depends on wether your cable tv provider wants to or not. The Solution would be to cancel HBO via your cable company and sign up for HBO Max. They are the same price so you aren't losing out.

I’d like to think the HBO channel will eventually be an HBO Max channel in the TV app.

Only if ATT wants that to happen.

For sure. Seeing the Roku and Amazon debacle makes me change my mind a bit, but I hope someday HBO will allow it. Doesn’t appear it will be anytime soon though unless HBO caves to Roku and Amazon.

Have Roku so no HBO Max on a set stop box. AirPlay to my LG TV worked 25% of the time. FAIL if you ask me.

I have not tested it yet, but if you have a Roku and the Apple+ app does the max content show? Is that a ninja way to get MAX on Roku?

For example, on my IOS device the MAX content shows in the Apple+ app. I am not sure if this is because I am billed through iTunes or it recognizes I have HBO Max downloaded on my IOS device. I can test when I get home if no one else can try. Here is a screen shot from my phone.

EDIT: I may have potentially answered my own question because when I click the content it launches the MAX app.
