What I find interesting is HBO Go haven't been updated to 6 & 6 Plus resolutions. Yet, right off the bat HBO Now is updated with a whole new look. Seems to me HBO is more attracted to the cut-the-cord model..

Apple had something to do with that.

@MacinJosh, have you tried streaming a show yet? I was able to create an account in Canada, using unblock-us.com, but streaming fails with "no feed available" errors.

i think their service cant handle the demand right now. my iPhone just randomly signed in but shows "signed in as: " (basically no one)

my iPad signed in with an account i have made but isnt connected to the iTunes ID so i am currently logged in for free? i dont even know lol

edit: k just tried to play something and now it says "expired - renew using itunes - already got HBO Now?" YES CUZ I AM LOGGED IN B....

I am now getting region errors in the UK. At first it played but now nothing.

Also with Unblock US

I am getting the Video Error: No feed available message.
Here in Vienna, Austria with UnoTelly (DNS workaround).

I've signed up, and can view everything on the Apple TV app, but nothing plays. All I get is a message saying Video Error, No Feed Available.

I'm using Unblock US to access it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Live sports is the only reason I still have cable.

I cut the cord years ago and was dearly missing watching live hockey. NHL Gamecentre has come a long way though and the Apple stream is HDTV quality. I don't miss anything about cable anymore.

HD Streaming?

Not sure if the content is streaming in HD (and Dolby) as in the HBO GO app. I don't see the logos and can't stream it as of now since I get an error probably caused by Unblock-US not having set up this service yet.
Anyone can confirm the stream quality?

I hit "Start Your Free Trial With iTunes" and it's just stuck on that little loading circle in the middle. Anyone else have this issue? I'm in the US.

I'd assume their servers must be overloaded at the moment.

I've been able to create my account, but I would seem that VPN's such as Unblock US (the one I use) do not support it yet. I've sent them an email asking for it,. as they say on their website that they would look to adding support if they have enough interest.

Has anyone had any luck using this service with another VPN?

Good news. Now Apple should plough some of their profit into great programme content like excellent drama. documentaries and humour instead of being just a joke.

Hmmm you can also access HBO Now if you are also subscribed with your Cable Service but all there is is Optimum for now I doubt Charter Communications is going to let us customer access like they do with HBO Go on Apple TV.

Simultaneous video streams

From their troubleshooting page:

Error: "You have exceeded maximum number of simultaneous video streams for your household. To use HBO NOW on device, please stop one of your existing video streams." Can I activate multiple devices on my HBO NOW account? You can activate as many devices as you would like. Members of a household can watch HBO NOW on up to 3 devices simultaneously. Please sign out of all instances of HBO NOW on all... Date Updated: 04/03/2015

I am getting an error message about exceeding the maximum number of streams, what can I do to be able to play video? Members of your household can use your subscription to watch HBO NOW on multiple devices at the same time, but the number of concurrent video streams on a single account is limited for security... Date Updated: 04/03/2015

Looks like 3 simultaneous streams per account.

now if I can get DirecTV to actually let me cancel it from there service, I may try it.

I called them and cancelled a week and a half ago. Didn't want to try to call them the day this came out because I figured they'd have some concerted effort together to try to keep me. I wanted to catch them off guard and simply gave "I don't watch it anymore" as my reason for cancelling.

Still, they did try to offer me Starz at $13.99 a month with 3 free months of Showtime instead. I politely declined and they removed HBO without a fight!

For some reason, I couldn't cancel the channel through my online DirecTV account. I don't know if they make everyone cancel that way or if it's because my account is somewhat "special" since my condo association pays the basic service but we have to subscribe to additional services on our own.

Dissapointing

HBO is overvalued and this service is overpriced. It is cheaper to simply buy its top shows off iTunes every year then get this yearly subscription, there are only like 2 - 3 good HBO shows a year anyways.

Also you know at least one person that has The Wire, Sopranos, or any one of HBO's past top shows available to share.

Shows like The Walking Dead, Dexter, and Breaking Bad have had huge success and have a home on Netflix, HBO is full of **** thinking they need to have their own service rather than embracing services like Netflix.

It's separate. HBOGo is for people who have HBO through their provider. This is for those of us who don't . Now we can watch all the content you've had access to for awhile now.

Would have been nice if they had just one app to avoid app clutter. Just have users pick between subscribe and authenticate when they first log in.

I cut the cord last year, best choice ever. I watch Hulu and Netflix (and from today HBO Now), save a lot of money, and have less electronics around. I miss sports a little bit (I have MLS Live, but this year I decided to not subscribe to MLB TV) but honestly... not that much.

You should also get SlingTV (for ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, & AMC) and buy an antenna (to get the national big channels). Then you'd really be all set.

It's two separate services, one is based on a subscription to cable which you typically have to sign in through the provider to authenticate. This is cutting out the Cable provider.

Subscribed!

I watch Veep, girls, GOT, silicon valley, true detective, john oliver. It is definitely cheaper this way for me.

Some further info from the FAQ:
Will HBO NOW have stricter limitations than HBO GO to prevent password sharing?
Published 03/05/2015 02:17 PM | Updated 04/03/2015 01:38 PM
The number of videos that you and members of your household can play at the same time with HBO NOW is similar to HBO GO. Like the traditional broadcast HBO subscription, we view it as a household subscription. However, if we see a level of sharing that affects our business, there are other tools of enforcement available to us.

How many devices can run HBO NOW simultaneously?

There is no limit to the number of supported devices you can use with your HBO NOW subscription. However, the number of videos you can watch simultaneously across all your devices is limited for security reasons.
