hey, i'm in canada, too. do you mind detailing how you signed up? it seems like it needs me to sign up through iTunes, but i don't have a credit card on file that's based in the US.

I have a US iTunes account and credit card. You'll need a US iTunes account (but don't need a US card, since you can use iTunes cards etc, pick up a bunch when you travel to the US, or have friends get them for you).

And set the AppleTV location to the US.

I'm wondering the same thing IF you can you must only be able to do that from an Apple TV I tried looking on my iPhone and I can't find it.

sounds like you can't watch live tv from what I'm hearing which sucks for boxing events and other live stuff they do now and then. Maybe when a live event is on they will stream it? i dont know, maybe just hoping

I am also interested in if you subscribe to this HBO NOW on a month to month basis? Or do you have to subscribe for a full year or so?

Monthly subscription via iTunes, first month free, if you sign up in April.

Registration Error

Anyone else getting a registration error?

I get a popup after filling in my name, email password, and zip.

I've confirmed my information and tried it a few times, but still no luck. Server trouble perhaps?

HBO is overvalued and this service is overpriced. It is cheaper to simply buy its top shows off iTunes every year then get this yearly subscription, there are only like 2 - 3 good HBO shows a year anyways.

Yeah, that would work if they were released to iTunes shortly after airing. But they're not - they're released as a full season some 8-9 months after they finish airing. Kind of hard to avoid spoilers for the hot shows for that long.

Yes. They are getting hammered.

How do you get internet? I called and they said right now for cable and Internet im paying 109 for just Internet it's 70?! Doesn't seem worth it

Internet expense does not apply. I would have it independently of cable.
I used to pay about $80 for DTV, without HBO, plus $40 for Internet, which makes it $1440/year. If I add Netflix (which I had anyways) it becomes $1560.
Now I pay $40 for Internet, $10 for Netflix, $10 for Hulu, $15 for HBO, for $900/year. In addition I cancel/suspend Netflix/Hulu/HBO whenever I know that I am not going to watch TV. I would say that on average I save between $500 and $700 a year, and still watch great content.
EDIT: and most especially, with TWC/Netflix/Hulu/HBO/T-Mobile I am 100% contract free.

I like it so far despite hating my slow Apple TV. The Apple TV just feels so dated and slow compared to other devices I also own now.

It appears that my subscription is free for 30 days and then it will start automatically taking money from the credit on my Apple account, which is nice since I just use Bing Rewards and Freemyapps to generate free Apple credit codes every month. Not sure if it's been answered or not, but you can have 3 people viewing one account at a time. It expects you all to be in the same home, though. They're not blocking outside of the home, but they warn that if it becomes a widespread issue, they'll enforce it.

From their troubleshooting page:
Looks like 3 simultaneous streams per account.
Looks like this is exactly the same for HBO Go. I got same message when tried to stream to a 4th device. However, with HBO Go this does not count against you STB Streams.

What I really want to do is drop my STB Cost (currently > $60 per month with 2 DVR's and 2 Clients). But without a subscription plan for all of there other channels that my wife and I watch I still have to keep the boxes which means best to stay with Cable HBO and continue to use HBO Go for now. I also find the STB's are more reliable then over the Internet at this time. I was also hoping for an App that I could use and have 1 DVR to stream from but FIOS does not offer that yet. To bad TIVO could not create an App for the ATV and I would switch to them.

I once read a quote a couple of years ago by the HBO president or ceo that I thought was interesting. When asked about the competition with Netflix, he essentially said "We want HBO to become Netflix, before Netflix becomes HBO."

Seeing Netflix do original programming, and now stand-alone sign-ups by HBO, it is very interesting to see them become more and more similar.

I love Netflix, but just looking at what both are offering at the moment, I'd say Netflix has better TV options (although HBO is no slouch) but HBO Now has infinitely better movie options.

I think I'll join the day of the new GOT that way I can hopefully squeeze in 5 episodes in the free month trial.

Not a fan of how they handle the Wishlist. Just let me add shows to favorites like Netflix does it.

And for the love of god, if I'm paying for your service, stop putting unskippable ads for your other shows before movies and TV shows.

why not wait till the end of the season and then you can binge watch the whole thing?
Free month is for people that sign up in April.

Tempting but these days it's getting harder and harder to avoid spoilers esp when you have loud coworkers talking about last night's episode with other coworkers.

If it's not a standard option on Apple TV I would assume that for specials like sporting events they'd offer a live stream option for those. It's only fair why should we be punished cause we don't have a "traditional" subscription.

Given that I signed up via iTunes, is there any way that I can log in on the HBO Now website?

When you signed up via iTunes it sent an email to your iTunes default address telling you how to finish setting up your HBO Now account so that it can be used on other devices.
