the book will be outdated within several months....are they going to keep making revisions? what a great way to part money from apple fools.

My issue has less to do with price (although it's not something I can afford at the moment), but the lack of text and insight into the design thinking/process.

I don't need just close up shots of products...I've lived through most of them and know what they look like.
Give us insight and content. Otherwise it's simply pretty pictures without any substance and context.

Price range comparable to text books or other books not for mass consumption. Not for me but price is reasonable. For one Gruber is critical of Apple - the book is fine but they should have commissioned someone else to do it because the optics are bad

Strippers make good money too. What's your point?
Sadly they do not. They have to pay the clubs to dance there, and only make up the excess in tips. Some days they can rake in, but on down days they might end up in the red.

Damn. Now that I think about it, so does every history book ever made. What a waste!

I'm worried about Apple.

Don't be. Apple is going strong and will continue to go strong for a good many years to come.

I don't understand the uproar. Apple is a design-led company and the fact that they are able to release a book like this is testament to how far their emphasis on design has brought them.

Do you think a company like Google, Microsoft or Dell would be able to release a book like this, much less have that breadth of products to fill the pages with?

For people who claim to have been with Apple for many years, they certainly seem to have a very poor understanding of how Apple works and what makes them great. Not only Steve Jobs, but the design-led culture which he instituted, and which is still going strong today.

What's wrong with celebrating this?

history books are actually useful. try again.

ignorant nonsense. as has been noted elsewhere, high end photography/art/fashion books often go for this price range and well above.

not everyone is in school or lives at home w/ the parents.
Wow. Insults Nolamacguy? I'd suggest you take your blind love of Apple as well as your insults back to Apple Insider but I see you've been banned from there.....

You guys are hilarious. Apple makes a book and suddenly it's art and it's the best quality book ever made. They could design a salt shaker and sell it for $500 and you guys would argue about how innovative it is and how the quality justifies the price. Oh ya and don't forget to point out since you have the funds, that somehow explains and justifies your silly Apple fetish.

Nooo. Lots of art books exist. And are not inexpensive. I don't think this book is something everyone would want, but why does it bother people so much that there are some people who like this sort of thing?

Why must people mentally allocate other people's money?

This book marks the end of an era. An era that ends with the loss of Steve that will never come back because as we all know was impossible without his genius. So I really don't care about the price which is clearly affected by the new era, I bought it to keep that spirit and passion Steve sent to us via all those magic products in mind. That's it, Apple, it's over. You know it, obviously.

I'm secretly hoping that half this book is just pictures of watch bands.

For those that bought it see if you can pinpoint the exact moment it all started to go wrong.

The amount of people complaining about a book that they wouldn't buy anyway is hilarious.

People are in the "uproar" probably because they thought Apple were Asus/Acer, thus the confusion.

Since you bought this book I guess it's safe to assume that you'd buy anything that's from Apple. Apple really needs customers like yourself otherwise they'd gone bankrupt a while ago.
You must have a very sad life.

I wonder how many dozen they have to sell before they've broken even.

Does anyone realise that if it took 8 years to produce the book, it means that this would have started under Steve's watch?

This book doesn't make the start or the end of anything. Apple is more than a single Steve Jobs, and ironically, we have Steve Jobs to thank for that with the culture he infused.

Apple is still Apple, with or without Steve Jobs.
