Here's MS Messenger 8 beta

And it seems, after all that hype, MSN Messenger 8 is just another slow, bloated, buggy*, featureless pile of bile. It has video, big deal. So will Adium soon.

Come on MS! To make a MSN for mac you need to:
  • Support ALL of the features that the Windows version has
  • Support Growl
  • Stop the bloatedness, my fans were blowing after only 10 mins of video use!
  • Make it look like Mac. This is more Gnome.

*I know it's a beta, but I cannot imagine the real thing being any better.
 
I hope that the other messenger (Adium, Trillian etc.) learn how to implement the A/V feature into their clients.
Maybe with the release of Messenger 8 beta it'll be an easier job.
 
Don't complain and the UI has been tweaked a little, different shade of grey with a more round feel to it.
 
No wonder MS was being so secretive. I can't believe that we waited this long for one extra feature. Typical, really :mad:

I was hoping to be able to switch from Adium, since my friends are often getting errors when they try to send me inline media (sound, pictures, handwriting) but it looks like this release isn't going to help at all.
 
Well got to say the only thing that was promised it A/V, they have months of betas to sort out bugs and there are a lot more numbers left for future versions to add offline messaging etc.

This is a beta release because we are still putting the finishing touches on the full application and some things are not finished yet. However, we are very aware of how patiently you have been waiting for AV support so we decided it was better to get it into your hands now as a beta release than to make you wait even longer.​

Anyone else having trouble signing to to MSN with this? Adium signs into my MSN just fine, but for some reason this keeps telling me it was unable to sign in.
 
Ok, A/V seens to work but, the interface is way to bad. I will stay with skype for video, bigger window for video.

I hope they change a lot of this interface, looks like msn 7 for windows.

For now it's skype and adium only for me.
