Ready by March! :D *wets pants with excitement* Now is that beginning of March or are we going to go through the whole of March going come one when is it coming.
Please stick to this or we will get very mad  Not too much pressure now of course :p

31st March at 23:59pm is my guess :D

Id say amsn was the sorry excuse for software, i find it awful

I used it for a while thinking it was better because I had the tabbed chats and offline messaging but it was just poor and looked rubbish. I had to go back to MSN for Mac as it also has the system spellcheck implemented which is one of my main loves about the OS X operating system. If had to go back to Windows that along with Spaces and Exposé would be the main things I miss. They add so much ease of use to everyday tasks in such an easy way too.

But yeah aMSN is rubbish, just give me the damn update already!!!

Any News?

Any news people, word from the inside anything happening. I think our predictions of 31st March 23:59 are correct

Do we really need to wait until then? :(

We don't even know what additional features in version 8 to expect, do we? I really hope we can have an official MSN Messenger that's on par with Windows Live Messenger feature-wise minus the advertisement. (Unless A-patch is available for mac version...) At the very least, give us A/V support and offline messaging. These are all I care about.

We know there will be A/V support in this version but we don't know about offline messaging as A/V is all they have been allowed to specify.

What we've been told is it will be out in March (which year? ;)) and that it will have A/V support

10 days remaining.... I'm getting nervous.

Surely to God offline messages will be supported. They've had like forever to work on this. :(

Maybe they should announce Windows Live Messenger for Mac and have features on par with the Windows version.

Then someone would probably port a patch over to remove ads and we could enjoy regular updates to messenger for once.

They have had long enough and from what they were saying about getting the A/V support to use the same system as the new one used for Windows Live perhaps they have been trying to get the whole thing working on the same servers etc as the windows live so that it works better.

It's been a few years since I've used the official Mac client but it used to have an option to disable ads if you bought and installed Office. Hopefully that option will still be present in 8.

Never :p only americans use that :D

Exactly. Everybody's using MSN just because of Microsoft's monopoly, which is plain stupid. Filled with "could not send message to recipient" and login errors, crashes and full of worms, not to talk about its closed protocol.. And Hotmail is really awful, with its failing to or receiving messages after a long time and its virtually useless spam filter. MSN must go down. It's just an unnecessary hindrance.

I agree, I'm an IRC guy but had to move to MSN because of all the people here in europe use that, hate hotmail btw.

Considering the general computing knowledge of 90% of those hotmail users, I think that one of those "There was once a girl who got an email like this, telling her to convert to AIM. She didn't and mysteriously died a week later. Now convert to AIM and send this email to all of your friends or prepare to meet your doom" kind of emails would effectively convince the majority of them. Damn if I hated that crap. Got several of 'em every week. And Hotmail's "Spam Filter" didn't do anything (or better, it did the inverse thing). Hotmail has become a gigantic spam magnet, impotent against what it lures. Too bad so many people think it's perfectly normal. in Europe, at least.
