Why do all cases have a cutout for the logo? I buy iPhones because I find them the best to use. I have no interest in showing off that I have one.

That's the ****ing worst, but one positive, thanks to that awful cutout you can identify ****ing jerks in a sec.

Did anyone notice this?
(Out of topic.. sorry about that)

I still can't get my head around that ugly bezel at the top of the screen. If Steve Jobs was still alive, this would never have been allowed.

Ummm.... yeah.
They removed the chin and forehead.
Do you have your browser set to not load images??
*confused*

If I removed my chin and forehead I wouldn't say I had an 'eye-to-eye face', because there would still be the mouth and cheeks and nose and eyebrows. :p
This device looks to still have bezels (and that notch!) so calling it 'edge to edge' seems wrong to me.

iPhone 9: Now even MORE edge-to-edge-ier than the last one! :D

I hope this image above makes my point of view clearer for you. :)

What I really don't understand is why you guys keep calling it an "edge-to-edge" display? The bezels are still there and theyre pretty much the same size as on the iPhone 7... the only diffference is that the screen is a bit longer, kinda like the iPhone 4 into iPhone 5 upgrade except this time theres no button.

It would have been scrapped as way too ugly. Thing is, you know it's going to be fugly, given Apple over the past several years. The 6-7 are really bland and boring. I'll give you that Samsung is at least as bad looking (probably more so), but not all phones are. Take a look at the most recent Nokia flagship, and tell me that isn't a better looking phone. Apple has just gone off the rails and is screwed like Microsoft. They are institutionally incapable of designing products like they used to be (and it isn't just hardware), for instance the latest iOS updates cause lag and introduce occasional lockup as well as sporadic phone lockups on both the 6 and 6S.

Overall, I think I'm sticking with them as the app ecosystem is still far better developed on iOS, but that's rapidly changing. You could always do more on an Android because the platform was more open, but the stability of the apps was never close to as good. I really can't fault anyone for choosing a newer Android phone. Many are more attractive, have similar CPUs and GPUs (Apple still a little ahead there, but hardly enough to matter except in benchmarks), so why shouldn't someone get one?

I was pretty sure they were doing something revolutionary last year, only to be disappointed to the 7 was actually a 6s v2. I figured this was due to how cool this year's phone would be, but all we have an AMOLED screen, wireless charging, and no home button. This isn't bezel-less, so I don't know why people are saying that. It's got an ugly bezel. And, then they went with the weird cut out, which is just about the most inelegant way they could have tackled this. Tell me that isn't something old Microsoft wouldn't have done.

I'm still holding out a splinter of hope (although I know it's foolish) that this isn't the real phone. This is just some silly intentional leak to hide the real thing due to their new security focus. But, I know in my heart of hearts that this is almost assuredly it. It screams Cookian Apple--functional and ugly, rather than functional and elegant.

After not using a case for the last several years, I could never go back to a case. Cases add bulk, hide the design, and judging by the number of people with cases using phones with cracked or shattered screens, don't really help protect the phone.

I don't know what it is about that camera bump in the back that I'm really not digging. I really can't wait to see it live, but from all the pictures I've seen it's just not looking particular graceful. Just, really bulky. Weirdly enough the current sideways placement with the iPhone Plus models doesn't bother me so much, but the horizontal camera and the edges on it just makes it look really bulky. The black color is definitely a must for me if I'm going to go for it if it looks at all as bulky as it does in all the leaked photos.

I'll be glad when those posting don't remember STEVE JOBS so I won't have to read this ridiculous comment.

He's dead and you have no idea what he would think about it!

A few weeks? I though the announcement would come in the latter half of September. I'd love it if it came sooner, of course since I'm finally in the market for a new iPhone :)

Well, you’ve got QUITE the quest on your hands sir!!!
According to your definition, I don’t believe there’s a single product on the market that qualifies as “edge to edge”... best get to forwarding your pictures to the tens of thousands of news outlets using dissimilar vernacular & see if you can sway any of them.
Or, you know, just let it go & realize that not all terms are 100% literal.

Perhaps I am a minorty here, but I use my iPhone without a case, at least where I can appreciate the design more. However, The September Keynote really needs to get here. I'm ready to see what this new iPhone is all about.

Someday you'll really wish you'd had a case around that baby, even a minimalist type. :(

I am also really getting hyped for this new iPhone, but jeez.....that camera bump is like really really fugly!

The iPhone's awesome camera makes me forget about the bump due to the stunning quality of the images.

How is this an "edge to edge" display? Unless my eyes are mistake, that's a bezel all the way around.

If the back is glass I really hope we see some bumpers. Just enough grip and drop protection for my taste.
[doublepost=1503163218][/doublepost]Also, I see a lot of complaining about the bezel. I guess beauty is in the eh of the beholder. The giant forehead and chin bezel we currently have look much less attractive to me. To each their own as always.

There will never be a white notch, and there will never be white wings next to the notch. There will be a dark mode, because black saves lots of power! No way will they not take as much advantage of that as possible. So, I expect dark mode will be a big reveal in the keynote. Apps will be in the new dark mode by default.

Wouldn't be surprised if at some point, Ive demanded (more like insisted) that the software is to be color matched with the bezels, and that idea was thrown out of the bus because Ive's design philosophies are basically god sent.

You've sold me!!!
IF this new "ip8" is actually smaller than a 7+ in physical size but has an equal or bigger screen for watching videos and using the internet, then I'm there.

But I think they are going to be really hard to get and possibly have a 6-10 week waiting time. Worse than the Airpods I reckon.

I actually had the white back, black front 3GS and loved the look of it.

3 knockout products within the space of a year is my prediction - Airpods, IP8 & Homepod. Plus the new IOS really looks like it's going to push the Ipad into new directions.
When it comes to video, the aspect ratio may come into play. Because of the way video works, it could be letterboxes on the sides so the video experience may not be much better.

However, I'm a little uncertain about the specifics. The HomePod firmware shows a resolution of 2436x1125. Using 3X this would be 750 wide at 2X. Yet the leaks so far have pointed to the device itself being a little bit wider and taller than the iPhone 7, yet the bezels on it are also a little smaller on the sides and much smaller top and bottom. So it will have a sharper display, but the physical display size could be larger. So same UI points across, but iOS UI elements could all be slightly larger, and that includes the physical size of videos. But idk if I would expect them to be close to the iPhone Plus size. But you'll be able to see more content on the display at a time and read small text and such easier. And to make things more complicated, that resolution height apparently doesn't take into account a "function" area near the bottom. The display reports itself at a different resolution or something than the total height, and maybe even width. All will be made clear in a few weeks!
