Yes which will only create practical problems for people that break the law anyway, so what if I may ask, is the big deal?
If privacy is truly one of Apple's core values and something they deeply believe in, then they'd dump CSAM. Unless their statement of "It's not always easy. But that's the kind of innovation we believe in." are empty words.

It's like with the 1st Amendment. If you truly believe in it, then you'll have to accept the good and the bad that comes with it, even if that means defending someone you deeply disagree with in exercising their 1st Amendment rights.

Or let's put it another way. Would you be okay with random police searches? It shouldn't be a problem for you, only just for the people that break the law. I mean, what's the big deal?

"... privacy is a fundamental human right. . . . Every Apple product is designed from the ground up to protect that information. And to empower you to choose what you share and with whom."

"Our products and features include innovative privacy technologies and techniques designed to minimize how much of your data we -- or anyone else -- can access. And powerful security features help prevent anyone except you from being able to access your information. We are constantly working on new ways to keep your personal information safe."

"Privacy is a fundamental human right. At Apple, it's also one of our core values. . . What you share from those experiences, and who you share it with, should be up to you. We design Apple products to protect your privacy and give you control over your information. It's not always easy. But that's the kind of innovation we believe in."

Sorry but that's an unbelievably naive perspective. Search for Operation Midland in the UK if you trust the enforcement process of such nonsense, as just one example.
The wider issue here is a backdoor. It's certain 'hash' numbers now, but what next (really this shouldn't need to be explained this many weeks after the CSAM disclosure).

I doubt they will be overloaded. The guts of Apple upgrades are delegated to Content Delivery Networks around the globe, which are well geared up to supplying vast amounts of data.

Where Apple had a noticeable problem in the past was one of the early iOS upgrades, where numerous people were trying to get their upgrade approved and Apple didn't have enough authentication servers to do do the job. That was a long time ago, mind you.
This happened last year where apple couldn’t cope with bug sur and none of us could even open apps due to servers being so overloaded

This.

Apple has lost its mind over COVID, and panicked hard into a very comfy elitist cocoon of paranoid bigotry and fascism, fueled by colonialist exploitation and powered by giving material aid and support to the world’s most corrupt regimes.

Apple has broken their reputation, and has a very uphill (if not impossible) battle to mend it. It’s an open wound that is just going to get worse, until there is major reform in Cupertino.

It’s incredibly sad how broken and evil the company has become, but the real heartbreak is how ****ing stupid and petty they’ve turned out to be.

Given folks past experiences, it's usually a good idea to wait for a x.1 or at least a x.0.1 release.

Look at the issues many had with WatchOS and activity recording last time 'round.

I can be patient.

If this is the same build as RC Apple must be braindead, RC has alot of issues that dont belong in a public release

It’s interesting that I’ve said all these before the iOS 13.0 release. But it seems like more people have issues with 15 than with 13. 13 was a mess for me, 15 is just ok.

Really excited…to see how they will let us branch out and keep 14. I mean I hope you do not have to go through Notification hell with 15 just to wait for 14 security updates.

As you can see I am staying on 14. 🙂

I've never done a fresh install or reset. I started from iPhone 3GS and went through numerous updates and transfers to new phones with the same copy and never had any problem or slowdown or battery drain. But not everyone has the same experience.
Absolute same. I always SMH when people give blanket advice to start fresh or reset. Sometimes those are appropriate actions but certainly not needed every single time.

Very few hiccups in beta 15 and aside from the Office problem (which is now fixed), RC is running smoothly.

I'm running with an original SE right now, so I'll definitely be skipping this at launch.

Same for me. I have never updated my SE until much later. I skipped ios 13 completely. I just got ios 14 two months ago, thankfully it works well. It's best to wait at least a few months these days. I don't need new features, I need a stable, working phone.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I was on iPadOS public beta and the final version of 15 was available and installed this morning (east coast US). My iPhone and other iPad running 14.8 no updates available yet.

Well the site is called macrumors, not nothing but hard facts about Macs and Apple products.
