Here's my little analysis:

the display connector label (vertical line, rounded square, vertical line) is clearly visible, so this port is therre to connect an external display device. It's the shape of the mini DVI but smaller. The Macbook Air's micro DVI looks more like a standard USB connector. So why didn't they use the normal micro DVI? Maybe this thing is a dual link port so it can drive 30" displays.

EDIT: sorry for the "realease" typo.

My reasoning exactly. They can't just insult people who need a dual link by not including this functionality. I'm 99% sure that it's just a new connector that has dual link support.

Depends, are they coming out with a docking station for it?

(Sorry to answer your question with a question but I'm not going to make any decisions till we have all the info. on Tues.)
:p don t worry thanks a lot!!!!!

I just hate the idea on a MBP not having a usb port on the right side of the computer since I use usb-mighty mouse and i need also usbs for the iPhone and the iPod...

no usb on the right side?
that would suck...
than i need a wireless mouse....

new Macbook Pro has magnetic latch

here's the case of the Macbook, you can see 4 shiny magnets on the bottom. The shiny things could also be steel or any ferromagnetic metal (aluminum does not attract magnets) and the magnets would be in the display bezel, like current plastic macbooks.

The Macbook pro case has 4 similar spots (very bottom of the picture) where the magnets would be glued into.

Hmmm, what do you think, with the inlusion of the new NVidia chipsets with integrated graphics/additional graphics SLI – perhaps that "mystery port" on the front of the MBP case is a switch to select which type of graphics card you want to use, like in some of the other manufacturers' notebooks with this option, and no "port" at all...

And what abou built-in eSATA conector

and eSata? Why not eSata.Acer has top laptops with this port.Apple wants to be the best.Apple gives eSata port in MAcbook Pro.Fw 400 is dead.Fw800 is compatible with fw400 and it is more faster.

the only reason you would ever want to fold your laptop lid back horizontal would be that you're an idiot

Yeah - that really would be the only possible reason.:rolleyes:

And as for someon saying it's unreasonable to expect a laptop to handle that SD card reader.....I've owned Dell's, IBM's, HP's, Sony's and Gericom laptops - all of which had USB ports space apart enough, or had enough of them, such that it didn't matter - you could put that in without unplugging something else.

Unreasonable to expect Apple to put a little bit of function in their form. It's a compromise too far.

Mmm... An apple dock station. Sounds unlikely to me. I'd rather have all the ports I need on the laptop than have to dock it all the time.

Yeah I'm not so sure it's very likely either, but basically what I'm trying to say is if putting all the ports on one side serves a purpose then it might be ok, if it doesn't then they shouldn't have done it.

a MB or MBP without Firewire 400? don't believe that!
without Firewire 800 is possible, cause that will go out of the market.
but a F400 is in!

I can see Apple putting a FW800 on a MB in stead of FW400 to save space. They'd just include or sell a FW400 adapter. They done similar in the past.

anyone betting that the keyboard will be white?
i hope so... i dont like black/silver

nobody answers me!!!!:(

if the big case is a MBP then we have a MBP with no ports ,USB or other,on the right side...

do you like this decision?

I hope my answer makes you happy now:

From what I've read in the past 300+ messages, some people would say yes while some would say no... I myself would say I don't mind too much.

You could participate in an online poll, like this:

Example poll...

I hope there's going to be an option to have a MacBook with Firewire... Otherwise how are you going to be able to transfer DV footage into iLife etc?

The new cases look smart, can't wait to see what Apple come up with on Tuesday. And fingers crossed the UKers don't get ripped off too much and can enjoy the price cuts.

But by the same reasoning, they are insulting people who need Firewire functionality!

True. But we're talking both these things on the MBP. The MB lacks both, I'd say, as only dedicated graphics should be able to power dual link (my guess here).

eSata

my reason is eSata port will be included in MBP.Acer has it in top alptops.Apple will too.

yes

Why FW400 and FW800.Fw400 is unecessary.HDD i can connect to eSata.I can make RAid from 5 HDD.And fw800 is comaptible with fw400 and it is more faster.fw400 is dead.My dream is Hdd RAid eSata.AJA io hd to fw800 and i will be video killer.:D
