you buy the student membership,
you will get an email to active your product (around 3-5 hours after u bought the memebership)

you log in and activate your product

fax them your student ID and your course schedule

wait 24 hours

go to connect.apple.com log in using ur info
on the bottom right click history
if it shows ADC student membership (pending) in the brackets then your membership is good to go, you an go to ADC store and get your laptop

so more or less once u see your student status (pending) in history section then you know it's accepted and it's been approved and ur good to go

buy your laptop and enjoy :)

wow nice im super stoked now. i didnt know we get a shirt and a copy of OS X. i really hope we get snow leopard. i recently signed up last week so i can get my MBP.
 
where is the developer's store?

or do i have to become an actual developer (paying) to view it?

I have the free subscription as of now.

Just a WARNING dont think your sneaky and just order off the ADC store without buying and activating your membership. I tried doing that because i thought they had activated it and I thought everything went through until the next day I got an email that said your order is frozen until further verification.

whoa, really? just as i was gonna buy. maybe i should wait it out then huh? or at least until it says Active as opposed to pending. can you update with ur status when you find out whats goin on?

Is it going to be activated today? since its a saturday and all?

So i read that the one time purchase can include accessories and such, however, it says equivalent to one cpu and monitor purchase. Could i buy an ipod in addition to the laptop i am buying an still receive the discount?

I would think so. My order is still being processed and I ordered 2.8 + 16 gig nano.
 
I signed up for the developers program and ordered a MPB. Just make sure you fax them your proof of info if you're a student before you place your order or they will just cancel it. Under Assets you'll have two assets; mailing-student and student membership. On the right of the screen it will state your status in bold letters as active.

My only concern is about the warranty not being applicable anymore. Hopefully I don't get a defunct model when it gets here in a couple weeks.

the standard apple limited warranty still applies to any hardware purchase, they just dont offer a warranty on any software or materials that they send you.....

Thank you. I was confused because I read license agreement and it didn't make it very clear.

anyone can confirm on this?? i heard somewhere that you'll get a copy of the os that is release during the same year of your adc membership... so if its within 1 year than i can apply for adc now instead of waiting for next year. :D

I think you will get a copy of snow leopard BUT IT IS BETA VERSION (for you, the developer, to test it out)

wad about all the people saying they get a free copy of leopard when they sign up? its also a BETA or is it a FULL version?

If you're really a student developer, I think you will be able to read the answer to your question on the ADC website.
 
So i got my ADS student account on Oct 31st (Friday), ordered the computer on Sunday (Nov 2nd) CTO and got it by fedex on Friday (Nov 7th). Talk about quick turn around time.
