I think you are suffering from acute fanboitis. Mucho problems with apple's 4th gen phone and OS.

I think you're suffering from acute trollitis. ;)
You say those that are defending their awesome iPhone are fanboys. Nothing screams troll louder than that. I am very happy with MY i-4 and know my mom, dad, friends: Tony, Nick, Allison, Brian, Kyle, Brianna are all happy with their phones. None of them belong to this forum but I'll let them know, because they are happy with their i-4, they are fan boys/girls.

Troll on troller.

Totally weak comparison, today's phone issues are all over the media....almost all major and minor media, whether tech related or not, have covered at least one of apple's flubs with this new phone...in fact, name media outlet that has not covered an issue with this phone....bet you cannot.

My comparison to your ridiculous post wasn't weak. I will agree that their are fanboys and their are trolls. The phones problems are being brought to more light because of the all around success of the phone, like I pointed out before. Every phone has problems and they just can't get everything right. Car makers can't, phone makers can't, PC manufacturers can't, I could go on and on. I understand your first post but you have to understand these are just bumps in the road. Previous iphones had issues, which could be named. My point is, its more the problems being broadcast louder due to popularity than hardcore boo boo's by Apple.

Seems lots of people love their new iPhones, so I am not sure where you are getting your information from?

You need to be more discerning in where you get your information from and also develop a better filter. Lots of anonymous people will complain about things they don't even own to cause a stir.

You need to learn how to separate the wheat from the chaff so to speak.

I think Apple and most of their iPhone 4 customers believe this to be a very successful product launch.

What can you seriously expect from someone who goes around telling everyone he is from Albuquerque.

I like how dougie thinks people should determine how well the iPhone 4 works not by actually using it, but instead of reading forum messages about it.

I hope your design company is not as lapsed in judgment.

My honest answer to your honest question...

Iphone 4 Hardware:
I haven't had any of the HARDWARE issues with it. This isn't fanboy ism. I literally WANTED and TRIED to make it fail. My calls didn't drop nor did my bar reception fall. (I attribute this to either being lucky or in a better serviced carrier area)

Iphone 4 Glass:
As for the glass thing, I don't see it different from any of the prior iPhones or other phones for that matter. I shattered the glass on my iPhone 3gs from a small drop and it happened to hit at the corner of the phone against the tile floor of the coffee shop. I shattered my Blackberry before from a small drop while grocery shopping.

You buy a device that has glass. Glass breaks. Be careful. That's nothing specific to Apple.

iOS4
Now iOS4...
This crap needed another few weeks in Quality Assurance with appropriate bug fixes. Any issues I've had have all been software / OS related which are FAR EASIER to test than hardware issues. If it was JUST me that was having the software related problems, I wouldn't quibble but the "Tips, Help, and Troubleshooting" forum proves my point. So many people are having issues that have been OS related (not hardware related).

Quality Assurance failed on the software side.
More often than not, their QA department probably found most of the software bugs / issues but some smuck in management said "SHIP IT" and signed off on the buggy release knowing the consumers would wait for a patch.

I thought Brianna wasn't happy about the color?:)

me and my wife have had zero problems with our iPhone 4's. The majority of users are happy and satisfied, there are some who probably have legit problems with their phones just like any other consumer product. In a month or two the whining will subside and millions more iPhones will be sold.

OP, I agree with you.

Apple is kind of stuck with it's release dates.

They have to release a new iPhone and a new iOS with significant improvements every single June, and be ready to manufacture, ship out, activate several millions of them within the first few weeks of release, like clockwork. It's expected of them.

Other companies are free to release a new phone when they're good and ready, when everything is perfect.

So I think this product was rushed out the door a little bit as a result.

Hence the....

1.) Antenna issue.

2.) Proximity Sensor Issue

3.) IOS4 issues (screen locks up at slide to unlock screen)

4.) iMovie issues

etc...

According to Apple, it's not just glass, it's 'chemically strengthened' and 'stronger than plastic', and that's why people are making a big deal when it scratches out of nowhere. It doesn't live up to it's hyped expectations.

It's harder than plastic.

I have had FAR fewer problems with my Iphone 4 than I did with my 3GS. My 3GS even with the latest updates and a fresh restore would just randomly go into a coma. I had it replaced twice and they all did it, I would have to do a hard reset in order to bring the phone to life.

My 3GS would drop calls like crazy in my house, I do not have this issue with my Iphone 4.

IMO the Iphone 4 is an amazing phone. Apples response to problems has been shady, but the issues themselves are nothing but a mountain being made of a mole hill. If Apple just responded differently, or even mentioned the fact that users should avoid the seam before it was released, this issue would be water under the bridge.

Your right, Apple is the only company that puts out products that has issues.

The only big issue is with the antenna and even that "problem" existed with the 3GS. People just didn't notice it as much on the 3GS because people used that phone with a case more than they are with the iPhone 4.

I never knew the problem was there on the 3GS for a whole year until I took off my case to sell the phone.

So OS 3, and OS 3.2 were perfect?, and on your basis so was the 3G was that perfect as well?
Be quiet, NO product functions entirely as it should, ESPECIALLY when the company ships 1.7million devices in the first weekend.

Your taking the high bar that apple set for themselves and raising it higher (which admittedly would be good) but unrealistic.

We'll just wait a couple of weeks when the whining about the iP4 dies down, like it did with the iMac 27 and the iPad, and the Macbook, Macbook Pro, Mac Pro, Mac Mini, iPod Colour, Classic, Nano, Shuffle and ATV. Should i move onto other companies or do you understand my point?

So many different issues, both hardware and software, on a phone and mobile OS that should be reaching a level of maturity and usability by now.

also, it is funny that when the new phone prototype was found in a bar how many people commented on the "seams" around the edge of the phone...

it seems that those seams were more un-Apple, than just in form...

Flame away, this is simply an honest inquiry...what the heck is Apple thinking? I honestly thought Apple was above releasing products that appear to be only half-baked in both the software and hardware.

To make you get iPhone 5 in 6-12 months.

It seems that a lot of people have problems with their iPhones so I don't know what you base your speculation on.

You need to learn how to multi-quote.

Don't say that you trust whatever Apple Inc says, even after they keep changing their position and by now, even they accepted some of the issues. Do you know the difference between marketing ploy, corporate interest and reality?

Proximity sensor
Glass that breaks like glass
iOS glitches, many of them
I could go on...

My phone works perfectly. But to respond to your immensely stupid response.

The proximity issue is software related and so are any glitches (that all OSes and pieces of software have), so those are fixable in time.

As for glass breaking like glass, I was just curious the last time you owned a phone that was made of unbreakable plastic? Cause lord knows a lot of my friends have dropped their phones on the sidewalk only to see a smashed screen and plastic pieces flying in all directions.

But please go on. It'll be fun to see what other stupid things you can say :D

who knows. You usually only hear the people who complain.

to the OP. "the glass breaks like glass" what were you expecting it to break like? I was personally hoping it would break like candy and then I can eat the pieces. Oh and for the people complaining about the proximity sensor, that because their face is too fat. Blame Apple because they're 400 lbs? Get out of here troll. Honestly.

If you really think the proximity sensor issue is because peoples faces are to fat, then your a complete moron.

"waaaahhh waahh waaaahhhh my phone isnt PERFECT on the first version of the new firmware! I have to wait a little til the bugs are fixed! Waaahh!"

Some people on here really should realize by now its not exactly easy to create a perfect operating system that works flawlessy, especially the first version! Id like half of you complaining to try and make an OS that works better. Shi t will get fixed, dont get yout panties in a bunch.

3 out 4 iphone 4 between a group of us have signal and proximity sensor issues. Majority of you might not have these problems, but that's what Im experiencing right now. Hopefully the replacement tomorrow will solve all these issues.

Just here to chime in about my perfect iPhone 4. I upgraded from my 3G and this thing is awesome!
  • Best display in any phone to date
  • Best camera in a cell phone to date
  • More ram then the iPad (this one is the killer boost for me, I love web browsing on the phone, and now I don't have any issues with page reloads when switching tabs)
  • The antenna is actually better at holding a signal, even despite the "death grip" which not everyone has anyway.

With how much they improved the iPhone in version four, I'm not really concerned about the few bugs here or there. They will smooth them out, and the OCD folks will be able to exchange their phones for a replacement.

How many endless threads were there for complaining about dust under the screen? People are going to find problems in everything, but that doesn't make them major issues.

Everytime Apple comes out with a product everyone freaks out and there are crazed hysterics from lovers and haters about the end of Apple, etc.

Then the issue goes away and millions upon millions of people around the world go about their lives enjoying the product. Stop freaking out people. The phone is great. Unlike a lot of experts on the phone, I actually own it and use it and enjoy it.
