But without these features, they won't be considered anywhere near "the best smart-phone on the market" which is definitely where Apple sees themselves and precisely where they want to be.

Apple always strives to be "best of class."

.

Just remember success is a menace it gets smart people into thinking they cant loose...

Pet peeve.

I find I work better with visual aids.

I care a little, and I could care less, but I am currently remaining at the lowest point of caring without touching the not caring realm.

my bad, wrong interpretation. i was thinking more along the lines of gps navigation...which is something that has been available per monthly rate for awhile. obviously something totally different...

Nice chart. Might I humbly suggest "I couldn't care much less" as the appropriate statement in your case? :D

isn't it great that there are now two visual aids in this thread to help explain how apathetic we are!

I love this!!!:)
That was my 1st chart.

"I couldn't care much less" fits perfectly my present state of caring with respect to the state of the iPhone camera.

The job listing for a camera engineer for mobile device only appeared a month ago :( Not enough time to make any progress on iPhone 2

shall we challenge each other to see who cares the least about a better camera?

At this point, I have a hard time believing that the new iPhone won't have GPS.

1. without GPS the iPhone would lack a key technology that it's main competitor, the blackberry, has offered for some time now
2. with the AppStore, the iPhone has the potential to be the leader in location based technology & software
3. For most of us who already have an iPhone, I don't think 3G on it's own is a compelling reason to upgrade whereas 3G+GPS+32gigs seems like a no brainer for an upgrade. My hunch is that Apple would like to attract a large % of upgrades, as well as new purchases, which will only help them achieve their goal of 10 million units sold for 2008.

This is the report everyone should be trusting. Not because it's likely more true than any other, but because it will prepare you for a nice surprise in case it's false. If it's true, on the other hand, you won't get disappointed.

Also, Apple will sell a boatload of these things whether or not they have GPS, a front-facing camera, and a propeller beanie. This is for those who will doubtlessly cry "they're going to be making a big mistake if they don't include GPS!!"

Look up "sarcasm." I'm totally going to wait here while you do.

If this is true I'm sure Jobs will state something along the lines of GPS chips on the market today consume too much power / don't work good enough etc ....

Two new iPhones

My bets are on two different iPhone models over the coming months.

You think it all ends Monday? No way. That will just be the start of the whining that it's not available this very second, that it's too expensive and that it doesn't have a frikkin' laser beam attached to it's frikkin' head.

Then will come the speculation about iPhone 3...

Very True. I honestly can't see Apple charging more than the current price points for this device. It maybe wishful thinking on my part who knows. But in the end, I'd rather hear the whining for a product I know about, than baseless speculation coming from all different angles. I mean seriously, we got a rumor that the iPhone would have GPS, then we get another rumor that it doesn't. Apple is hard at work confusing and hyping the masses and are doing a great job cause I am excited.

And I heard from a credible source that the iPhone 3 will be able to open worm holes to the location of anyone on your address book. Take that with a grain of salt though...

I heard that too. From someone who works at Apple no less!

Was the janitor... may or may not be crazy... but thats 2 sources, so it MUST be true.

i will be perfectly content with just 3G as an upgrade. i really don't care about the camera and GPS is just gravy. I would use the unit in my car before the phone. Slimmer with 3G and Red are all I am asking for.

The most important new feature is 3G, therefore its not THAT important to have GPS, although it would be a nice bonus. I dont believe it though since this is the very first rumors saying its not featuring GPS, there are way to many "sources" telling the opposite. I think GPS will be included.

Me too.
THX for the assistance. I too care greatly about using the correct terms and phrases to accurately express my point.

Better chart:

That chart is sort of phallic...

It better include a propeller beanie. No way I'm upgrading if it doesn't.

Brilliant... ;) Thank you, my pet peeve as well... when you explain the logic of the "Could / Couldn't care less" scenario... many people will still not understand, and continue to say it the wrong way.
