Houston, TX - iPad 2 Sightings/Information

Bb just called!

I placed my reservation with Best Buy Galleria last Monday and I just called them to get the 411....well, I was just told by the sales associate over the phone that as of last Thursday they are no longer taking reservations and that they have not received any shipments either.

Mine just came in. I ordered last Tuesday.

The Strategy

So let me see if I've got this right after reading all these posts. The strategy is:

Step 1: Pick a day that you are feeling lucky
Step 2: Get in line at about 6am at one of the 3 Houston area Apple stores
Step 3a: If they do get shipments that day, then they give you a reservation card
Step 3b: If they do not get a shipment then go back to Step 1
Step 4: Return the next day to pay for and pick up your iPad

Responses such as "Step 1: just wait" aren't necessary. I know I can just wait. I'm being serious, and want to know the best strategy to getting an iPad 2 within about a week

I used the inventory tracker links this morning and found that the BB in Greenspoint had a few 32 GB in stock. I held a 32 GB ATT 3G Black and my friend got a 32 GB white wifi only. I had an hour to pick it up so went during lunch. Only one per customer.

Someone bought a 32 GB White WiFi only while i was there. I would highly recommend checking those links each morning. I checked it at 11am and was able to score one. Hope this helps and happy hunting!

Best Buy in Greenspoint...
Don't you mean the Target inventory tracker?

Actually no, someone had put all the links together in one thread and I tracked it down that way...link below.

And it was accurate because what they said they had in stocked matched the online description. Most were allotted for reservations, but a few were left. They actually had a very nice and competent customer service rep who confirmed my 1-hour hold and made the sale. She had retrieved all the iPads from the back and had them up front so you could see what was available, which was awesome.

Based on inventory trackers, looks like Best Buy is getting some shipments. I just wish they would call me.

Me too. I wish I had ordered from Greenspoint instead of the Woodlands! I am leaving for a work trip tomorrow through Sunday. I just know they're going to call once I board my plane!

Wow, never saw this. Thanks.

Looks like Galleria got a shipment in. The young lady I spoke to this morning said they weren't selling any ipads to walk in customers unless they reserved their order before last Thursday.

Best Buy Passadina had six black 32G AT&T pads that they were holding for those who reserved them. (Not for me though.) I did score a white 32G WiFi. I was not really looking for white, but after spending some time with it, I like it. It actually looks smaller than the black.

FWIW

Curious

Curious as to why one needs this item now and can't wait until they come in?

If my life depended upon it maybe but then I've made it to the age of 38 without having an ipad and made it this far.

I'd love to have an ipad 2 but at what cost? Waking up at 5 in the morning to stand for several hours daily in a line in front of a store in the hopes that they give me a voucher for a model that I don't want?

Think about that for a moment. Your time is of value. Every hour you spend driving from store to store all over the city not the best use of your time....its the only thing they are not making more of.

The other options of giving Best Buy $100 or Apple.com $499+ to hold on to for the next several weeks don't seem very appealing. Would be best to make that $$ work for you now earning a return on investments rather than allow them to earn interest payments while they hold onto it until they send you an ipad.

I guarantee you by April 21 (a month from now) you will be able to walk into any Apple store (or BB, Target, Walmart....etc) and purchase any and all models of the ipad 2 to your hearts content.

The only reason that I see anyone needs their ipad 2 NOW is that they would want to turn around and sell it for a profit on ebay or craigslist. Depending on how much of a return you get with THAT might be worth while reason.

If you go out to craigslist/ebay you'll seen tons of ipad 2s being sold for twice what they are worth. THAT'S the reason why there are none in the stores.

You answered it yourself - good work. Can you calculate if 4 hours of my time (physically only, not mentally) is worth $500. I can.

Shenandoah Sam's Club Success!

Just purchased 2 64 GB 3G Black AT&T iPads at the Shenandoah Sam's Club around 6:30 pm this evening. I called and they told me what they had in stock. They had several left in stock, as well as wi-fi versions. I believe they were out of any version of the 32GB 3G AT&Ts. Good luck everyone!

The stock they have is iPad 2 or ipad 1?
Just saw this post, wonder if they sold out before close.

I purchased two iPad 2s--AT&T 64 GB in black. They also had iPad 1s "classics." I would call in the morning if I were you. I believe they still had several left of the 64 GBs I purchased. They also had some wi-fi only. Definitely call in the morning. If they are out, I think they tend to get their shipments in the afternoon. So, they will probably get more. I have one on order through Apple. But, it's going on day #5 sitting in Hong Kong waiting for FedEx to decide to move it along. I have no idea when that one will make it to me. So, I decided to look around town.

Best Buy Supply

Just looked at inventory tracker, and looks like all Best Buys got some in either yesterday or last night. I think I am going in and see if I get them to give me my reserve... even if I am not next in "line".
