I have 6.69 GB of music on my 8 GB touch (also my whole collection right now). Now I'm probably gonna have to sell my iPod Touch to get an 80 GB classic.

How big is your music collection?

Currently I'm at 6602 at just over 40 gigs. Modest size.
Anyone else?

I'm at 24.74 GB, and 4285 songs.

Here's another question for all you people out there: How much of the music on your computer did you pay for, or receive as a gift for holidays and special occasions? ;)

I paid for it all. My music taste is too obscure for people to consider giving music as gifts :D

Is it even possible for someone to listen to 200GB of music?
Realistically?

I mean sure, you can just listen to songs once and listen to 20,000 songs... but what is the point?

Here is a screenshot.

2331 songs, 12.25 GB

I don't understand how people can have such libraries... it's insane.

Probably paid for 20% of my music, rest torrents/google.

My music takes up 62 gigs, it's about 5700 songs. I've become quite a convert to iTunes and playing the music via the airport to speakers around the apartment. What is interesting about my 62 gigs is originally I insisted on AAIF and never MP3. Because of the Apple Store I began to add AAC. Then the size just started getting too big. So I have some MP3 now - and they take up much less space. While I never touched an MP3 years ago, I now feel it's fine for music recorded before the mid 60s. I have alot of old jazz and blues and the limited range of those recordings doesn't suffer with the inferior format - and the music is only at 62 gigs. I also went for Time Machine and back up hard drive because at this point I it would be almost impossible to track down music - I stopped keeping CDs long ago...

6982 songs at 26.65gb. Most of it being ripped game soundtracks and other obscure stuff.

5322 songs. I keep my CDs (and the "covers," but not the jewel cases) in a bank deposit box), but I do not buy CDs any more. I like not having the clutter. I back up my iTunes library in three places. I listen to 20% of my library regularly, and 60% occasionally. The rest I probably could purge and not miss ...

4000 songs. My GB count is irrelevant because my music is encoded in Apple Lossless.

3657 songs, 10.7 days.

Think some of it I don't like any more so will need to be removed at some point.

The other day, a co-worker showed me a picture thousands of vinyl and CD's he had collected over several decades (along with some nice equipment). I then told him I have the same amount of music, on a 3.5" hard drive whereas his took up an entire room.

So you purchased as much music as he did?
