I'm surprised I hadn't seen this thread! wow!

Okay, for me, it all depends on the mood and where I am physically. My parents are from the South (USA), so they grew up on nothing but sweet tea. So by extension, so did I. However, I can't stand it as sweet as they do anymore, because that **** is SWEET!!!

But thanks to Star Trek, my tastes in tea have expanded. Yes, Earl Grey. Even Lady Grey, English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast, Darjeeling. All great teas.

What varies for me is where I am at physically. I never would have contemplated adding milk/cream to my teas unless I was overseas. I only do that, however if I'm having black tea (read: orange pekoe/Lipton/English Breakfast). The taste of it with an Earl Grey rather puts off the true boldness of the taste of the Earl Grey.

However, in my time overseas, I had the hardest time explaining iced tea, let alone sun brewed iced tea! Everyone thought I was nuts or crazy taking a jug, filling it with 4 teabags, cold water, screwing the lid on, and placing it on the front porch of the house we were at in the middle of the summer! Almost as crazy as me showing Aussies how wonderful it is to put grated parmesan cheese on top of a pizza!

Either way, when I'm overseas (read: outside the US/Canada), I'll use milk/sugar. Otherwise, just sugar lightly.

BL.

Oddly I drink Earl Grey with a little milk or PG/Assam/Darjeeling black by preference. No sugar, no lemon. A good lapsang souchong doesn't go amiss though!

If someone makes my tea stupid strong I'll have a little milk in just to take the edge off.

I just discovered Bigelow Benefits Balance Cinnamon and Blackberry Herbal Tea at the local Kroger’s at about $3 a box for 18 tea bags. It is delicious!

Bigalow Tea, Fairfield, Ct, USA.

I find a very strong brew tastes lighter with lemon. You'll feel the effects later, but it's a nice "correction."

Don't consume milky tea much anymore. Could still strangle a person who pours milk in first.

iced.
(...why do people comment on ancient threads like this, btw?)
when the ones who posted have maybe been gone for years lol

Always add the milk afterwards. But strangling seems a bit harsh.

Well, yes.

In my normal world, of course, strangling would not be an option for a messed up cup of tea. Not even in one's imagination.

But I do find that when I am beginning to get bilious, tetchy and irascible, it is time to take - or think of taking - leave.

Nevertheless, when serving with milk, tea first, followed by milk. And when serving with lemon and sugar, tea first followed by lemon and sugar.

Not a big tea drinker, but a former girlfriend once introduced me to Chocolate Hazelnut flavored tea that she bought on Amazon, and it was to die for !

Anyone tried this ?

Usually black tea with milk & sugar.

But on weekends, I brew black tea with cardamon, cinnamon & ginger and have it with milk and honey.

Cheers
