EXTREMELY happy. I was so skeptical after reading this forum that it would be a disaster - boy was I wrong.

Keyboard: It's literally just a keyboard..it feels sturdier than the 2013 rMBP and I don't hear any change in sound when typing. This forum bloated the hell out of this being so "bad" - I like it. It springs up better and it's..it's a keyboard. I was expecting the worst feeling type of keys that would mess me up or something.

Touch Bar: Uhm..YES. This was something I initially thought I would feel indifferent about. I love this thing. The ability to scrub a song or video directly from the top of the keyboard while changing volume (I also thought that I would hate the volume slider since I am constantly changing the volume level during a song - but it works great) is incredible. I can't wait to explore more. It is a great compliment to the machine and is EXTREMELY easy to use.

The Screen: It's a marvel. Seriously. I came from the already incredible 2013 rMBP and this screen shocked me when I first saw it. It's detail oriented, brighter, more contrast, overall better.

Trackpad: So big and useful. No issues with resting my palms on it. At all.

Battery: Hours upon hours and is normal for what it should be. No issues. At all.

I haven't done anything intense yet to utilize the power - but I'll update. I have the 15" R460 + 2.7/512

I was expecting the worst and got the best. This machine is amazing.

It's very encouraging to read such as positive review, I'm thinking about upgrading to a Touch Bar model from my current 2011 MacBook Pro, but some of the negative comments have been off putting.

You seriously won't regret it at all. My last Mac was really screwed hardware wise so I couldn't even wait if I wanted to do. This machine is seriously incredible and the negative posts are so unwarranted to me it's insane. I mean, I was expecting this machine to be a complete dud full of issues, uncomfortable typing, annoyance, exc. It is blowing me away.

Your transition from the 2011 to this one will be way more impactful than my transition from my 2013. I can't wait to read how blown away you will be if you decide to buy this.

Extremely happy, however I don't find the Touch Bar that useful....yet. It's going to be awhile until software companies start integrating touch bar features in their design.

Like the touchbar (even if I do tend to bump it too often). Like the size and weight. Like the keyboard. Not a fan of the touchpad...it's just too big.

F***ing hate the complete switch to only USB-C ports, when there's no damn dock available yet to be able to plug in peripherals. And before anyone starts on the "you should ditch all of your old peripherals and buy all new stuff", NO. Just stop. At least they put a damn headphone jack on there.

I've been dealing with some hack adapter thing for the past few months waiting for a fully-featured dock to come out, and the release dates only seem to get pushed further and further back. So, I currently have only one of my two external monitors working for the past two months. Makes work much more difficult. And, no...I'm not going to buy another series of adapters while waiting for the dock so that I can spend the money all over again. If you're going to release "the laptop of the future", then also release a "dock for reality" so people can use it effectively.

EDIT: Oh, and the part where I had to buy each part of the extra power adapter separately.

I'm going to try both the 13" 15" with Touch Bar at the Apple store when i go next month, i'm in no big hurry to buy one yet so i will probably wait until they update them later this year. It's going to be interesting to get a hands on, especially with the Touch Bar, i've read so many reviews and posts on this forum and i still don't know what to think.

Cool.

Which ports should such a dock have?

Can you predict what my setup is?

It's definitely the most beautiful piece of hardware as per laptops. I did a lot of spec battling before ordering but the material of the machine feels great to work on. I actually like the keyboard. Touchbar is cool but not entirely useful yet. I would not say it's a negative though. To me this is just an incrementally better MBP than last years model although it looks and feels a lot better.

What went wrong with your first five?

Graphic issue, heat issue, pop sound issue, electric issue.

This one that I have now did not stand flat on the table, the left front corner was 1mm up in the air.
But I did fix it by my self I did put that corner outside the table and the other 3 on the table and I but some weight on it, not much and now it's flat! :)
As it's only the battery there inside in the corner it's no chans to crack the board or something like that.

And the mbp works totally fine so I guess that I did fix it without braking it ;)
I could not manage to replace one more and bending back aluminum slightly by your self could not break the mbp.
It did not even get any marks on the mbp bottom plate I did take it easy with the weight.

Of course not. Just like no computer can predict what setup everyone will need, yet they all have a myriad of standard ports.

But, be realistic...you know that not everyone is going to ditch every peripheral they own just to get ones that match with this particular laptop. That's foolish. You know why? Because I already upgraded stuff to work with my LAST MacBook Pro. I had to buy all new power adapters, and monitor adapters. Now, I'm doing it all over again.

But, seriously. Regular USB. It's still ubiquitous on millions, if not billions of peripherals out there. HDMI ports or DisplayPort ports for the millions of monitors out there. An SD card slot for all of those millions of camera cards out there. Maybe, I don't know, RJ45 for when you want actual wired networking. These are standard everywhere. Pretty simple. Obviously, no solution is going to give you 100% of exactly what you need, nothing more and nothing less. But, throwing a laptop out there that cannot connect to pretty much anything without a series of dongles, and no real dongle/dock solution, is pretty dumb. Months later, and I still cannot buy a dock to connect my stuff.

And, no, the solution is not to buy new monitors, new keyboard and mouse, new thumb drives, new printer, new label maker, new, new, new....

I am enjoying mine, but the USB-C ports have become very loose since i have gotten the machine. They are not falling out or anything, but definitely do not have the "click" my other USB-C devices have. Since mine was a non standard configuration, I'm loathe to have it out of my hands for a few days.

Didn't you buy all new stuff when you switched from an Apple II to a Mac? And then all over again when ADB and floppy drives disappeared with the iMac? What about the ExpressCard adapter when that slot disappeared?

Obviously, no solution is going to give you 100% of exactly what you need, nothing more and nothing less.
That's your answer. I may never have to purchase the same "dock" (or "multi-port dongle") that you'd need.

Very happy. Received 15" 2.6GHz, Radeon 460 in early Feb. It has been flawless so far. I was skeptical given all the negativity but battery life has been good, the new keyboard was strange at first but now I find it amazing how fast I can type vis a vis the old one. Love the smaller form factor. Screen is just stunning. Touch bar has not been of any additional benefit with my usage.

To me that's the main frustration.
I wish they would have offered a non-TB 15" model

Agreed with both of you. I've had mine since December. The Touch Bar hasn't really been any benefit to me, just a gimmick. Oh well. I'm still willing to "give it time".

But I don't necessarily respond to things that people think are "revolutionary". I've never used Siri in my life despite owning iPhones since I was 11.

Yeah - Even if there was additional cost for TouchID anyhow, I still would prefer to have normal top row keys and just a TouchID sensor by itself in the top right (optionally).

TouchBar feels like an odd thing on the 15" Pro to me, as I'd argue that demographic is the most likely to appreciate normal keys, know all the KB shortcuts, etc.

13" and 12" with TouchBar, more mainstream users (usually) are where I could see the TB being appreciated more. So much of what it does seems like it would appeal to my mother in law and her 13" and her usage patterns.

I use my MBP mostly with the lid closed and with an external keyboard. I now prefer the MBP keyboard if I have to type at length, although I don't know if I'm faster on it just yet. I wish my external keyboard had TouchID and the touchbar.

No. I have never had to purchase completely new sets of peripherals with every new computer purchase, nor have I needed an adapter to use every single one of them. I still have the same external floppy drive that I had 15 years ago or something. No idea if it still functions, but it has the same connector that I've been using since the day I bought it up through the last MacBook Pro I had (2015). She printers. Same mice. Same X-keys. Had all these for many, many years.

That's your answer. I may never have to purchase the same "dock" (or "multi-port dongle") that you'd need.

So, essentially, your answer is that to use this MacBook, I really should just drop about ten grand on new external hardware? Thank god there are third party companies out there to cover Apple's slack. If only they were ready.
