I've now got a corner rubbed shiny silver. Not sure how it happened. My chamfered edges are starting to show some small nicks. I dropped it on a table one day and I think that caused the hairline crack I'm seeing in the glass.

Overall I'd say it's surpisingly less robust than my 4 and 4S. But it's not a big deal, as I've said several times....it's just a phone. Putting too much value in material posessions is a very bad idea in general.

I think I may look into a skin soon. I saw a guy with a cool one I liked a few months back on his iPhone 4s. Just can't recall the name of the site where he bought it. The URL was something really funky/funny.

Could be gelaskins.com They have some pretty sweet/funky skins.

No scratches, dents, nicks or anything on mine. Keep in naked but in a Sena ultraslim leather case. The pouch is essential for protection in pockets.

This phone is so damn fragile lol they should have kept the same weight and thickness of the 4S, or only a few percent down, now the phone is gonna be subject to all the elements (bending, snapping, bezel getting dented, etc...) even worse than the 4/4S. I would have gladly got it if they added NFC or a separate voice data chip for Verizon and Sprint phones and a larger battery

I just have an invisible shield on the aluminum back portion of my phone.. everything else is bare

The honeymoon phase of babying this phone is slowly diminishing, at least for me

It's a bit more fragile in different ways than the 4S was, but it's not "damn fragile" by any means.

My wife has the commuter case. I got a speck candyshell from amazon today. The candyshell is a lot thinner and more sleek. I can safely say they offer similar amount of protection. The Otterbox only has one thing that's better and that's covered ports.

I'd like to try out a different case, but this one was a gift from my girlfriend and I really like the way it looks, so I couldn't bear to trash it and buy a different one. I really like it and feel comfortable doing whatever with the phone, especially since we're really active outdoors. Only complaint is it adds bulk in the hand and makes it a little harder to reach around the screen (and this is coming from a 6'2" guy with larger than normal hands)

It is, all the parts are tightly compacted so if one moves out of line the whole phone will eventually be screwed, the front glass can break easily if it lands on the front and doesn't get enough time to try and shift it's weight to the side. It being made of aluminum is better for not completely shattering the back but it still looks nasty if you drop it once or twice and the 2 glass panels shatter and the aluminum scratches. The chamber and silver/black band dents easily and the volume buttons are able to be bent now. In most of the drop test videos the 5 lands on its side not the front, and with the glass between the screen and touch area gone now it's more easily breakable.

Nope. I've seen plenty with the iPhone 5 landing on the front. It's not "damn fragile".

Totally clean since launch day! I have the black model. I'm certainly careful with it, but not over the top about it

I've dropped my white iPhone 5 three times, the aluminum edges got dented in each drop. So I have a total of 3 dents on the unibody aluminum frame. I've ordered two cases, I'll be getting one of them tomorrow and will be having it on my iPhone as soon as I get it. That's it for me, I've tried to leave my iPhone "case-free", I really want to but it's not worth it. I'm a total klutz :)

Mine's black. Noticed one tiny scuff to chamfered edge after day two with phone (got on launch day). I've bumped it a few times on various things and thought "oh, crap." No new scratches or scuffs, though. I don't use a case.

A horse trampled my iP4 and it survived minus the back glass. Cheap replacement. I wonder if my iP5 is capable of surviving such an attack

Been using it naked on and off, mostly naked. Still no scratches or nicks. I decided to put on a screen protector, just so I can pick it up and hold it more comfortably without trying to worry about not smudging the screen.
