I'm a slower poster when I'm not working, as otherwise I can't sit at the computer for hours. When working though, I can get on here, answer questions and otherwise help out while I'm waiting for programs to compile.

It took me about 4 months and 18 days to reach 500 posts. Certainly not the fastest rack up of posts, but I don't think it's too bad.

I tend to refrain from posting too much through, usually when I can help people out rather than in news items.

I think there should be a rating system for users, other users can rate you on how helpful you've been to other users and that contributes to your profile on way or another…just an idea.
Something to reward those who try to help others rather than post 100s of 6 word responses for news items every day and to increase incentive for posting helpful responses.

Commendable, but that requires very active moderation.

As the crew here are all volunteers, I think that is unreasonable.

But, for the record, I believe 4 years in "isolation" is a trifle harsh.
