Pfft, I’m a heavy Mini user. The battery life would have been an issue for me if it wasn’t for the new Apple 20W fast charger (I even got a couple of them). I often have to charge it during a long day of heavy use, but who doesn’t have 20-30 minutes to plug it in??? I still get the notifications on my Apple Watch, so it couldn’t be more of a non-issue. I feel like people are always looking for things to complain about, without actually caring about finding a solution, no matter how simple and obvious it can be... Obviously it would have been great if the battery was better, but in general terms that literally applies to absolutely everything. Nothing will ever be completely perfect.

(And yes I’m over 40 so I guess that makes me an ‘adult’).

EDIT: I’ve used the fast charger, almost always exclusively, from when I first got the Mini, and after around 5 months of ownership the battery health is still at 100%

After two full weeks with my new Mini I’m excited to say that I’m over the moon happy with my new iPhone. I figured I’d use it awhile before posting my thoughts. As I said earlier I was coming from an iPhone 12 great phone but not as small as I’d have liked. The Mini is a pleasure to use and I do indeed forget sometimes that it’s in my pocket.

My one critique would be the fonts being so small so I’m forced to use Zoomed view and larger fonts. That’s a small price for such a handy little phone imo. My battery has been lasting me 2 days before I need to charge it (light usage).

Anyway I’m past my return date and this phone is here to stay. My next upgrade won’t be for at least 3 years so I do hope Apple continues to make these. My husband is keen on giving my old 12 a try...otherwise I will just sell it.

Launch day 128gb mini green. Really loving it, except for face id; it’s inconvenient, especially in day and age. And your face need to be at the right angle to be recognized. Really difficult when you lying side ways in bed.
This is what bothers me in bed too. But with mini size, it’s much better to hold it unlike the bigger versions.

Finally went from a 12 Pro Max to 12 mini yesterday...

I don't care about the pricing of either - the Pro Max was great to look at but always uncomfortable to use, I never really got used to it and the extra size didn't seem worth the extra discomfort.

One reservation I had with getting a mini was that it might make me less productive because it would be more fiddly to type on. I feel it actually has the opposite effect - I'm happier using this to make notes, reminders and type because its so light and easy.

Using the mini for a day now:
- It makes me realise how redundant much of the screen space was on the Pro Max, as I generally see the same content
- It gives my iPad mini more of a purpose; as a home browser of news / Teams / reddit
- I love being able to do everything 1 handed
- Maybe they should call it iPhone 12 nano. It reminds me of how impressive the iPod nano was. I think its muted success is partly due to the 'mini' name and its budget connotations + the fact no one can test-drive these in store due to covid..

I have never understood the comment that the iPhone 12 Pro Max doesn’t make use of the larger screen as you can see the same amount of content on say, a 12 Mini!

It’s no different to watching a movie on a 20” Television or a 65”, the same amount of content is displayed on both only the latter being bigger - and more immersive!

I have NEVER heard of anyone saying they want to down size their TV as they feel that the smaller one does the same job and displays the same amount of content

Nobody wear's their TV's inside their jeans pockets. If they would, they would want the Mini TV.

Mini is the most advanced iPhone made by Apple to date, it's a technological beauty inside a small container.

I get that but my statement had nothing to do with pocket-ability just use-ability.

There is always going to be a trade off, you can have the ultimate pocket friendly iPhone that has a condensed viewing experience or a slightly less comfortable pocket experience but a much more satisfying viewing experience, the choice is there to be made.

Your comments really only apply in one area only, the "viewing experience" you mentioned. When it comes to a TV, the ONLY thing it does is provide a viewing experience. The iPhone does more stuff. Trust me on this, if your TV was also supposed to make phone calls while in hand, surf the web sitting in your office, take notes, etc etc etc, you would want to shrink it down.

The mini doesn't just display a shrunk down version of the content on the pro max. You're willfully ignoring aspect ratio, UX decisions, text sizing and layout.

Conflating an iPhone and a TV is like saying a car is just a small bus.

Truth is, you don’t see the same content on mini as on 12 Pro Max. You can see only the same content as on XS/11Pro. 😉

Viewing experience encompasses more than just the video side of things, I just didn’t elaborate on them. Viewing photos, reading a book, playing games, heck, even typing out a message is far more enjoyable(for most people)on a slightly larger screen.

Of course, there is a point where a mobile device will cross in to tablet territory, for some we are at that point with the 12 Pro Max but not for all. The sales figures for each 12 model tells a story.

Agree. The idea is that at the moment Apple has a phone for everyone, phablet or normal sized phone. Until November 2020, us, the normal sized phone customers, had no option.
What’s normal? 4” used to be normal and >5” used to be phablet. 😆 Things always be changing.

The idea is that it's not normal for a phone to be the size of a tablet or a tablet to be the size of a TV. Normal size for a phone means a device that you can carry with you and use it as it's name intended, as a mobile phone. For me, a mobile phone is normal at the size and weight of the current iPhone Mini. It was ridiculous for my jacket to swing because I had an XS in my pocket, or for my phone to slide out from my pants when sitting.

That's your idea of normal which is fair enough. "Normal" people are however, in the minority.

I would be very curious to know how many people returned their standard iPhone 12 for the 12 Mini just because of the phone size.

As an iPhone 12 user, I am kind of very tempted to get the iPhone 12 mini just because of the pocketability/one-hand usage. But I am still concern about cutting on the screen size and battery life which is quite good on my iPhone 12.

Also, I have got a very nice screen on my current iPhone 12 i.e. no raised black issue or yellow tint, so a bit concerned about getting something not as good...

I'm a launch day blue 128 GB mini owner and trying to figure out a way to get the purple one. I could try selling this phone, but I know I wouldn't get enough for it. Yes, this is totally a FWP.
I would have the exact same feeling if I would be returning my regular iPhone 12 for the 12 mini (i.e. totally FWP) since the 12 is already a great phone and I will probably be losing a bit of money out of this transaction.

Extremely satisfied iPhone 12 mini owner here. Exactly what I had been wishing for ever since the iPhone 6 came out! I went back and held out on an iPhone SE from an iPhone 11 simply for the size, and having a flagship model in thos size is EXACTLY as good as I had hoped it would be.

Now they just need to do the same for the iPad mini and my Apple life would be complete. iPhone, iPad, and Mac mini 😁
