I would be very curious to know how many people returned their standard iPhone 12 for the 12 Mini just because of the phone size.

As an iPhone 12 user, I am kind of very tempted to get the iPhone 12 mini just because of the pocketability/one-hand usage. But I am still concern about cutting on the screen size and battery life which is quite good on my iPhone 12.

Also, I have got a very nice screen on my current iPhone 12 i.e. no raised black issue or yellow tint, so a bit concerned about getting something not as good...
Also at an equals price between the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, would you still go for the iPhone 12 mini?

I still have my iPhone 12 however I recently bought a 12 Mini to replace it. I wanted a smaller phone to fit my pockets. No yellow tint, not sure what raised black tint means exactly. I miss the battery life sometimes but typically get 2 days on a charge so not that bad for a light user. I was getting 3 to 4 days on my 12. I don’t regret my switch since size was the most important factor for me.

Finally went from a 12 Pro Max to 12 mini yesterday...

I don't care about the pricing of either - the Pro Max was great to look at but always uncomfortable to use, I never really got used to it and the extra size didn't seem worth the extra discomfort.

One reservation I had with getting a mini was that it might make me less productive because it would be more fiddly to type on. I feel it actually has the opposite effect - I'm happier using this to make notes, reminders and type because its so light and easy.

Using the mini for a day now:
- It makes me realise how redundant much of the screen space was on the Pro Max, as I generally see the same content
- It gives my iPad mini more of a purpose; as a home browser of news / Teams / reddit
- I love being able to do everything 1 handed
- Maybe they should call it iPhone 12 nano. It reminds me of how impressive the iPod nano was. I think its muted success is partly due to the 'mini' name and its budget connotations + the fact no one can test-drive these in store due to covid..
Welcome to the mini clan.

Two days between charges is great. You got spoiled with 3 - 4 days. :p

I am a light user as well and I can get 1.5 days if I let the battery get low.

Thx for your very interesting feedback! I believe I should be fine with battery life (as I am not gaming or doing things heavy since I mainly using my iPad mini for media consumption or photo editing). I might just lose a bit of money or at least getting the mini without adding any money on top when selling my iPhone 12...

Here is the thread for the raised black issue: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-12-pro-raised-blacks-display.2263200/

It has the same display quality, even with brightness. It’s just for so many people (at least here) displays have problems with flickering or yellowisness...but that is an issue for both 12 models, including the mini.

It depends on your usecase. Personally, some days I would wish to have a bigger phone, some days I’m over the moon about mini’s pocketability. Battery isn’t an issue for me as the size is. I think I’m somewhere in between of 12 and 12 mini. So it depends on your usage, travelling, watching content....

Thank you for your feedback! I read your very interesting thread (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/undecided-12-or-12-mini.2286006/) which is giving a lot of great inputs for whoever is in the same situation (torn between the iPhone 12 and 12 mini).

Maybe the best option would have been an iPhone 12 5.8" :) Same 11 Pro screen size and smaller body (as they actually did for the 12: Same 11 screen size and smaller body.

Nevertheless, I think that for me the approach could be to buy the iPhone 12 mini and test it over 10-14 days (as you did for the iPhone 12) and then come to a conclusion/decision.

Oh, someone really read it? 😅 Thank you.

Agree with that sizing and also with testing. The best conclusion is to do it on your own rather than reading and watching other reviewers. Keep us posted how you decided after all.

I would pay more for the 12 Mini. I understand how hard it is to put high tech in a small space, and how easy it is to put it in a large space. I love the mini in it's current form, I don't want stainless steel as I like the low weight.

you are somehow right: on a technical standpoint, miniaturization is more effort, more investments, research and development, etc.

Hi. Just got a “red” mini. The color is awful. I want to return it. I’m within 14 days so I’m guessing T-Mobile is the only option right? I’m not sure how Apple can sell a product like this which is NOT red ? If you’re making a product color being a selling point, it better be as described. This is NOT red. They want me to go through T-Mobile but T-Mobile didn’t manufacture the phone. Do you guys think the 12 has better cameras overall ? Wondering if I should take this back and get a 12??

If you bought it through T-Mobile, you will need to return to them.

I agree the Product Red is more a coral orange than the deep red many are used to. What about another mini color?

For example the new purple one? I never loved anything else besides white, but this color looks incredible.

12 and 12 mini have the same cameras. It’s only a size that matters. If that’s matter to you, then switch. If not, stick what is the best for you.

Yes I think I want the white/silver color mini. It’s frustrating because I think T-Mobile will want me to “return” and re-buy and this will muck up the trade in I am doing through them.

I see, it always depends on personal view. That’s tought to switch a phone these days. 🙃

Over 5 months after launch and you hadn't seen any pictures of the color before you bought it?

I’m sorry for you, but everywhere is written that this year product red is a coral red 🧐

Unfortunately not. I know. “Red” no longer means red. Silly me. Lol
Let’s be honest. This kind of joke manufacturing wouldn’t happen if someone else was in charge of things at apple.
If you’re going to make the color of a product a selling point I don’t think it’s unreasonable for the customer to expect the product to be the described color

I think it just says product red on the website. No mention of coral.

So you bought it without searching real life pictures and/or review on internet? I repeat, I’m sorry that you didn’t do that but I think you have a little bit to blame yourself: in every single forum and in every single review is written that this year red isn’t a real red.

I’ll accept zero blame. The next time you go to buy a blue product and it’s not blue ask yourself if you should be blamed for this discrepancy. Having spent a lot of time in France and Italy I am very aware there’s a big difference in terms of customer service between Europe and North America so I can understand your feeling
