Technically the 13 mini is a small pro phone.

It’s got the bigger sensor from last years 12 Pro Max, much better battery (than even the regular 12 from last year) as well as the same software features that the pro models have from this year.

I know it’s not a pro, but this is likely the closest mini lovers will ever get to one.
I am in love with mine. After using the 12, while it was a great phone, I didn’t realize how perfectly the mini fit in my small hands. The 12 was a bit clunky for me. Can’t believe this tiny phone is so powerful.

I’m also thinking about going from the 12P to the 13 mini. How are you liking it? How’s battery life?
Battery life is definitely spartan compared to the 12P - but I am not on my phone constantly. I use a fair amount of email and iMessage along with light web surfing and controlling my home smart systems (Roon, Homekit). I've been finishing each day (8am - 11pm) with about 5% battery.

It's absolutely worth the decrease in battery capacity. If you average more than 3.5 hours of screen time / day, it's going to disappoint you. If not you'll love it. And the cameras are an improvement over the 12P (apart from the lack of telephoto lens obviously).

light web surfing
Web surfing is the thing that's heavy on the battery with my 12 mini. If you can go easy on that then there is no problem. There's not a lot else apart from the usual navigation and the occasional bad app. (If you want to do that much web browsing, where's your laptop or iPad?)

And the cameras are an improvement over the 12P
That's the beauty of going further down in the range! (Not that it's much further down.)

Hi! White 13 mini and black leather case. There's white (silver actually) edging between display and case. Looks great! =)

I havent really touched any of the settings and getting about 4 hours SOT from 80%. Fair play. I can see 5:30 from full charge with app refresh off.

Will be testing on my second Mini from tomorrow for 3-4 days

Yup, all these reviews with 6-7 hour + SOT are misleading

Look at it in outdoor lighting, it’s definitely not just silver starlight is a very subtle and unique colour.

???

My phone has reached 7hrs SOT several times. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t game or stream movies though. I only got my phone on Sunday, so I have spent a lot of time at work (office). Mostly Teams messaging, emails, and short video chats. On my breaks, and at night, I’ll watch sports highlights and short video clips on Twitter and IG, and browse a few websites and forums.

Right now, I have 48% battery on 3h38m of usage. Mostly Safari, Twitter, Instagram, Outlook, and Teams.

My battery consumption is far greater outdoors since my screen goes to max brightness, and OLED is very inefficient at its brightest setting compared to LCD.

In contrast all of my recent problems with an iPad Mini 6 which I just sent back to Apple, I bought a 256GB iPhone Mini a day earlier, and so far it is my favorite iPhone of all, a totally positive experience. I have previously owned an iPhone 5, iPhone 6s and an iPhone Xs, and had liked all of them. But I love this phone, so far.

7 hours SOT on a single charge.. IDK man

It’s true. 🤷🏻‍♂️ On pace for 7.0-7.5 hrs of SOT every day since I got it. No weird battery-saving settings were used either, other than dark mode.

I even started a thread on my battery life experience.

Anyway, there’s a video comparison of battery life of all currently available iPhones, and the iPhone got 6.5 hours on a seemingly more intense usage than my own.

Just ordered a 13 Mini, did consider getting the Pro, but in the end decided the more pocket friendly size was worth more than the extra camera stuff, even though I do like taking photos. If I really want to try macro shots with my phone I can always get a lens attachment for it.
Coming from an SE2 I expect the battery will be an improvement regardless.

I love the Mini. Had a 12 Mini, sold it and tried a 12 Pro, went back to a 12 Mini, contemplating a 13 Mini.

It just bugs me that Apple are very likely not bringing out a 14 Mini so if we want to upgrade the only option will be a larger phone (unless the SE3 has a full screen form factor and is smaller than the Pro).

I guess a lot of us will be keeping the 13 Mini/12 Mini for a few years! There's rumours of a flip-style iPhone coming in 2023 so that might be the next upgrade for us Mini owners.

One decided to keep the 13 PR I’m getting used to the size and weight tbh , but if apple makes a smaller pro next year I’ll get it

Just wanted to see how many here actually own a Mini. I do and i love it, my favorite iPhone ever. I can hold it normally and reach the top corners. Really hope Apple brings it back next year.
Yessire. +1….everything you said about the Mini in general! 13 mini 128GB Starlight for me. Love the color. But, I’m gonna go into the Apple store tomorrow and see the Blue in person. I didn’t order the blue because it looked more “teal” colored in Apple‘s rendering (ie on their website). But in all of the Youtube videos I‘ve seen…the blue looks very different (ie looks terrific). I’m still within my 15 day window:)

Here is the picture of my Starlight mini. The sides are more of a light champagne 🥂

Exactly how I feel. The 5.8” was a great size. I wish Apple had gone with 5.8” as the “regular” size.

I would have bought the XS instead of the XR 3 years ago if the XS’ battery wasn’t so horrible compared to the XR. Was hard to justify paying more for the XS. 🤨
I gotten used to the 13 pr already coming from a year of using the mini , the weight was bad at first but I love it now , glad I didn’t return it

This is my first mini (13 Blue 256) and I traded in my 12 pro max for it and I really wasn’t intending to do that I was planning to eventually get the 13 pro max but I was in the store picking up an iPad and I started playing with the phones while I was waiting and the mini just felt perfect in my hand so I ended up setting up a trade in a few days later and I really love the size and just phone in general.

I was worried over the next few days I would start to miss the screen size or have usability issues but I find the screen to work well for any usage I had and just continually marvel at how much more comfortable it is to use and pocket. I really wish I would have gone for one of these sooner but I started getting sucked into bigger and bigger screen sizes. I also picked up a dark cherry MagSafe wallet and that has basically been a revelation as well just being able to leave my normal wallet at home for the most part and have the phone and my cards and ID in that size, get rid of my main wallet and have a smaller phone has been amazing.

Wow. In this picture it almost looks like the light pink one. How lighting can change the color…

i got to compare my white 12 Mini to a white 13. in the lighting there it seemed almost the same besides the red tint of the white 12. Nothing like above. Crazy.

Hope you liked the blue.
I have 256 13 Mini Blue. It is more like last years 12 pro pacific blue.
I wanted pacific blue last year but wasn’t offered in 12 mini which is the one I got as I like the size of mini.

Now I got a mini in a color I wanted last year. Lol

Don’t know if this helps - here’s my blue mini. Pics were taken on an iPhone 7 so sorry for the quality

Does anyone here have the red iPhone 13 mini? The red looks great, but does the area around the cameras look pinkish? Debating on moving from the graphite 12Pro to the mini.

its definitely more of a lighter red than pink.

Edit: here it is under different lighting with Apple silicone case:
