Screen protector and Casecrown matte case. Barely adds any bulk to the phone at all, and i'll be damned if i'm going to use a £599 piece of hardware all day without giving it some protection. Even if i were to drop it once and not smash the glass, any scratches or dings would significantly lower the resale value.

Naked for me. This phone is just too sexy to cover up. Though I do keep it in a leather holster when I'm not using it.

My first iPhone 4 I rocked naked. That changed when it slipped out of my hand one day and the glass on the back cracked:(

I now use a simple silicone cover.

Yes

I use a case and Pure.Gear display protectors. They are easy to put on and let lots of light out.

Can someone explain to me how AppleCare+ isn't a ripoff. It costs $99 for the coverage then another $50 dollars to fix it, totaling $150 dollars if you damage your phone.

Isn't that the same exact price you pay for replacing the screen on the phone without AppleCare anyway?

If you shatter the front twice, you'll only pay $200 instead of $400 ($199 each time). Don't forget that the AppleCare perks include phone support longer than 90 days and extends coverage for an additional year.

No actually it's still costs $100 for each replacement which is half of what it used to cost, plus you get 2 year's AppleCare out the deal which in the past was $70 (?), so in turn each incident is only $65 assuming you need to replace your phone twice.

Breakdown:
$100 for AppleCare+ limited to two incidents
$50 deductible each incident
$100/2 = $50 cost of each incident prepaid
$50 half of AppleCare+ for each incident + $50 deductible = $100 for each incident.

I assume you would still have regular warranty after those two incidents, so in turn:
$70 for AppleCare without accidental (no longer offered)
$30 extra for the +
$30/2 = $15
$15 extra for AppleCare+ each incident + $50 deductive = $65.

Price for out-of-warranty repair:
$200.

This is a form of insurance. Apple is betting on the fact that most people don't go around dropping their phones all the time. So you're making a gamble on your own phone for the same deal.

I have a white casecrown metalic on my 4. I hate the feel and look of screen protectors so I just go without. So far its been 8 months without getting a major scratch in the screen. I am very careful of which pocket I put it in though.

Zagg front and back for me. Had that as well as a Belkin clear case on my 4. Just using the Zagg skins this time.

To me the main plus of having a case is raising the camera lens off the ground when placing it down. Something that worries me is scratching the lens and rendering the camera useless.

It's $50 to replace, not $199. Without AppleCare+ your cost is $199 or higher. The coverage allows two accidental breakages by you and they will only charge $50 each time to replace it. After that, well it may be either $200 or full price.

How can anyone go without a screen protector? I always toss my phone into my pocket with my keys. I hate screens with scratches on them it drives me absolutely batty.

I'm saying that if you shatter the phone twice, you are paying $200 total, not $200 each time.

It's funny- for the original iPhone, and my 3G (and 3GS), I preferred no case, but used a case anyway because I was paranoid about dropping it. Now that I've owned nice phones for a few years without incident, and now that I have AppleCare+, I planned on not using a case. But I just don't like the feel of my iPhone 4S in my hand without a case. I don't know- maybe I'm just really used to having a case or a phone with a rubbery back, but I haven't yet gotten used to my new iPhone without a case. It's weird.
