I use my iPhone 4 pretty much the whole time that I owned it naked.

On the 4S I put a OtterBox. Honestly, I like it better with the case.

The design is cool, but it's even cooler to not have to worry about it breaking.

I'm a very careful person, but accidents do happen. It's better to be safe than sorry. I also have little kids and it's nice to be able to let them play with my phone and not worry about it being broken

I went naked with the iPhone 4 and made it scratch free until a freak accident in june. I'm careful enough to where I trust myself caseless, but there is work involved in being extra careful. My iPhone has its own dedicated pocket, only pens can also go in that pocket, plus I almost never lay it down on tables. I like the feel of the glass too much for me to encase the thing!

For my new 4s however, I've ordered the Graft Leverage case. If AT&T doesn't offer me an upgrade when the 5 comes out, I am very likely to try and turn this thing around. I'm probably going to go no back plate, I think the bumper style protection will be enough. I am considering buying an invisible shield like covering for my antenna band because when I was using the apple bumper it got scratched up pretty bad by it.

I could never put a screen protector on the front of my phone. The oleophobic coating makes the phone way to enjoyable to use for me to even think about interacting with the device through a piece of plastic

Otterbox Defender for me. It's not a matter of if but when I drop it.

Plus, I like the sticky rubber. Some people complain about it because it sticks to the inside of their pockets. All the better for me. I wear baggier pants at work (not gangsta, but fairly loose with big pockets). I don't want that thing slipping out.

If I don't kill this phone it will be the first cellphone I didn't kill.

I've gone swimming with them (by accident), dropped one once that gracefully slid under a moving tire of a Chevy truck. I think it committed suicide. I thought I was placing it in my pocket, but it slid down the outside of my pants and rode my leg and shoe in a perfect arc until it just slid across the concrete and into the path of the tire. It still worked, but all screen functions were dead.

Another time I had a phone that was falling apart and one day I just tossed it over my shoulder and let it smash on the concrete.

But I don't want any of those things happening to my Iphone.

Not a chance. I got bumped while walking with my 4 without a screen protector, and in a simple apple case. It shattered.

Now I use an otter box commuter, and a screen protector and have applecare+.

I've always gone naked.

Honestly, last year, I tried the white bumper on my black iPhone 4, because i did think it looked kinda cool, but I ended up taking it off after a day. I just loved the solid feel of the iPhone in your hand.

I dropped my 4 i think a total of 5 times since launch day, only once resulting in serious scratches. I did have multiple minute hairline scratches on the 4, but majority can only be seen if a light is shone directly on the phone. That doesn't really bother me that much so thats why I go naked.

I have yet to find a case I like. The bumpers have sharp edges on the bottom and look pathetic. The only case I use is the Mophie JuiceAir for when I know I won't be around to charge it all day which is rare. The phone loses it's appeal when covered up and feels like a Droid X.

At the house, I use the Otterbox Impact. If I'm out of the house, I use a Otterbox Defender. It took only one fall to shatter the screen on my 3GS, and no way was I payin $200 to fix a $30 part. I also feel more trusting of the durability of the 3GS vs the 4s as well.

Powersupport HD Anti-Glare and Lucky Labs Spectral Wrap. Nothing else. Protects the phone/antenna from grubby fingers and potential scratches whilst maintain original aesthetic.

My iPhone 4 has had a bumper through its life. Yesterday I decided to take it off to clean it from dust, and of course it slipped out of my pocket and got slammed to a tilefloor when going for a pee (I use pretty slim jeans so it came out of the pocket when taking them off). Uh.. Do you wanna know more?

Well, anyways, the steel frame suffered a nice dent. ****! I'll never remove the bumper again.

Prior to the 4S, I had a naked iPhone 2G for over four years. Well, not quite - I kept it in an Oakley microfiber sunglasses bag. The phone shows a few bits of wear and has a couple minor scratches, but is in otherwise excellent condition. I'm keeping the 4S in the same way. However, I'm worried that it won't tolerate a fall quite as well as the 2G, so I purchased AppleCare+ just in case the glass shatters.

I used my iPhone 4 Naked until the oleophobic coating wore off and it got too annoying to deal with so I put a Power Support Anti-Glare screen protector on it.

naked. my phone is a tool; not a museum show piece to keep in mint condition until it is appraised and sold at auction.

besides, every single case that would offer protection is pretty ugly IMO and totally ruins the aesthetics of the device. being mostly all glass alleviates my concerns about a lot of scratches. i looked into a screen protector but they also reduce some of the crispness of the retina display and end up dimming it.

that being said, i also got the AppleCare+ just to be safe.

Tools need care too. One drop ruined my last "tool" (3GS) and that tool no longer had a working vibrate switch, as well as a cracked screen. Only took one time for someone to bump it out of my hands and fall on the sidewalk.

Not saying that this situation will happen to everyone, just that I don't want to take the risk. It doesn't take much to do a good bit of damage to these phones. I actually wish I had it in me to go caseless, like I used to. Oh well.

hence why i bought applecare+ because accidents do happen but at the same time i am not going to try to preserve it in an anti-bacterial plastic baggie like it is somehow going to deteriorate from contact with the atmosphere.

I have both front and back screen protectors and a case, but I use really low profile cases that I wouldn't anticipate doing much in a fall.

Naked for now.
Still have the screen protectors that came with the phone, havent taken them off.

Thinking of getting some of those powerwhatever crystal screen protectors though.
