The ulimate cheating device. I've seen so many tennagers cheat with iphones. wow

I waited till 20 to get my iphone, it came out a few days after my birthday so it was somewhat of a present for me! I just cant see anyone under the age of 18 having real world uses for it besides the cool factor.

Do any of the teens who responded pay for the service? I saw that many of you paid for the actual phone, which is laudable. I just fear parents GIVING something so costly (especially with how teens do texting) to a kid. People my age (I'm 30) racked up extreme bills just based on minutes before all the Rollover stuff and when we had maybe 50 free minutes.

I traded on craigslist for my iPhone 3G, and I have a T-Mobile contract in my own name. So yes, I pay the bill too. :D

I'm 15 and own a 3G. But I got my first iPhone (Edge) when I was 14.

Yes, i have paid in full for both of them. I mean, a teenager having an iPhone isn't a big deal. You can have crappy phone and just work (somewhere) for a month and get a new iPhone. Not bad.... :D

I'm 15 and could have the iPhone right now but decided to hold out for the red 32GB at macworld '09.

I will be paying for it myself, thanks to my tutoring job.
I'm paying half of the data charge, which is $15 a month, and I'm also paying for 1500 texts, another $15. $30 for me and $15 for my mom.

And yes, I already put money away for my car, and am probably getting a partial scholarship to college, with my great parents willingly paying whatever left.

i wonder what teenagers actually use the dataplan for, facebook?myspace? lolol, because i'm sure they dont have important emails to check and send. im sure they just have them to look cool.

i got the first iphone when i was 15. payed for it my self and i pay my monthly bill. now im 16 and i got a 3g payed for it and i pay my bill

Judge much? What's it to you? I'm sure 90% of adults don't use their iPhones for anything anymore important. Yet, just because they're adults you think that they have more official business with their phones.

My mom swears by her blackberry, and she's been using blackberries for years. Want to know what she uses it for? Facebook and forwarding email. Sure, I use my iPhone for facebook and twitter, but I also use the calendar a lot (like a crazy amount, I usually have four or five events and alerts every single day) and I use Things a lot (a GTD application).

I use mine for work but I'm a "Teenager" by technically only (Junior in 4 Year College & Well Paying Job) I use mine for business and the occasional equities / options checks (It's more of a hobby right now). But I actually ran into one adult who had the nerve to ask me why I can't stop playing games all the time. To make it worse this was somebody I never even met before, guess some people have some amazingly condeluded preconceived notions, not that I really look or dress like your stereotypic teenager.

I'm 17 and I have one, and pay for everything myself. Also, I can think of six other people that I know(all teenagers) who also have one.

I have an iPhone 3G

I'm 14 got my 3G on the first day when I was 13, and got the 2G iphone back in January and sold bought it. BOUGHt with my own money btw>>>>

I do have important emails, as I travel alot, and love the fact that I can get them anywhere... and it's easy to do so, but my iphone.. I have found 5 dead pixels yesterday.

Yes. I use it for Facebook, I use it for Twittering, I use it to call people, I use it to surf the web when I need something very quickly, I use it to find the way to someplace when I'm lost or need some direction, I use it to receive emails to check up on other things and to email my teachers. So yeah, I suppose that's just too superfluous to own it. I should just go get a Sidekick or something, maybe it'll make me look ever 'cooler.' Adults surely don't use any type of social network, they're too mature.

So annoying. Just because we're teenagers, it doesn't mean we don't NEED it or shouldn't OWN it...

----

To the post about who pays for it. I got it as a birthday gift, I think I said that, but we get a discount and an even larger discount kicks in this December... so it'll be the same price that we were paying with my prepaid phone.

I'm 17, dont even have a cell phone.

Edit: I also LOATHE texting with every fiber of my being. You wanna talk to someone? CALL THEM? or you know, that old dated form communication we call talking in person.

I'm 17, use it for gps, mail, facebook, youtube, msn and whenever i'm away from my imac so i can run my media business
That blew the stereotype

edit: and twitter and surfing the net
