I surely have started sending less as I have grown up, in High School I would almost always hit 10,000+ a month. Now I am more around 5,000, more in the summer when I am away from friends. Since iMessage though, my usage has dropped below 1,000, it's surprising the number of people I know with iPhones!

OMG... some of you are nuts. I used to do like 3500, and I consider myself a heavy texter. Now with iMessage, I probably do like 1500-1800 SMS, and some more on iMessage.

Funny story, my friend who is an insane texter and is texting practically all the time racked up like 4k-5k on his DROID 3, and he is a senior in college. His sister, who is a freshman in college, only did like 2-3k in the same time frame. I think she does have an iPhone though, so the actual number could be a lot higher when you count iMessage.

Anyone who is doing double-digits thousands of texts need to seriously re-evaluate their life.... That's INSANE. That and when looking at the account, make sure you're not looking at shared texts... as 5 lines each doing an average of 2k is 10k for the whole plan...

Actual texts is only a couple hundred a month. Throw in "data-type" texts from apps like iMessage, Viber, Voxer, and What's App, and it's likely in the thousand range.

I'll never pay for an unlimited texting plan with so many great alternatives available.

Glad you're grandfathered, considering now the only text plans are 0 and unlimited. I like having unlimited, texting is the hardest thing to figure out how many you are using, even harder than data IMHO. It's easy to blow through 50 or 100 in a few hours, and then not use barely any for days.

With iMessage, I'm down to about 300 or so per month. Before iMessage it was around 1000, and I had and still do have the 1500 per month plan.

So many of my friends have iPhones now that iMessage has really cut down the number of texts I send over AT&T's network. I used to be at over 2,000 a month but now it's just a few hundred.

Interesting thread but I never text. I rather email. So I'd say maybe 5 texts per year.

100-500, mostly iMessage, some on TextNow. I run a charitable org and so we are constantly texting. My boss and co-worker at my real job also text me quite a lot, and my daughter and I text a lot as well.

I don't have a text plan with AT&T.
