On the family plan, don't you have to pay $30 per phone for the data? Or will you only have 1 iPhone in the plan that will use it? I'm wondering because I'm thinking of doing a family plan with 2 iPhones and I was expecting they'd charge $30 for each. Man, this is REALLY getting expensive. But, I'm giving up my landline so it'll balance out.

Yes, the data plan is per phone/line, however I am the only one going to get an iphone, so I only need 1 $30 plan. One of the other lines is my teenager daughter's phone and she does not need an iphone, no matter how much she whines that she wants one and life is SOO not fair :p :D

You guys need to multiply your monthly rates by 24 and see how much you're really losing over the course of two years. One of the reasons I won't get an iPhone. No phone is worth more than $2000 over 2 years. I'd prefer to get a top-end MBP with that kind of money.

Its only costing me an additional $720 ($30 * 24) over the course of 2 years, plus the cost of the phone...still not enough for a macbook, especially considering I already have a laptop that works fine :)
Phone is a necessity, especially since I dont have a landline, so other than the data plan, the rest of the voice plan isnt applicable to this comparison.

DAyyuuummm...I'm paying like 50$/month now (i dont have an iphone, only a normal cellphone) and I find it really expensive. Now you guys are saying anywhere between 85-120$

I'm not sure I can afford an iphone afterall...

How unfair is that? Don't you know that a few years down the road, she's the one that selects your "Nursing Home!" I would reconsider! LOL :D

She knows she will eventually wind up with one LOL Once she finds a job and can pay the $30 per month, I will probably wind up getting her one for Christmas or something.

Most of us that have higher bills are either on a family plan, have additional lines, or just plans with more minutes included.
Just add $30 to your current plan, plus extra for texts if you use that ($5 per 200) and you will know how much your bill will be with an iphone.

Just to give you an idea here are what my taxes (and fees) look like:

Credits, Adjustments & Other Charges
NATIONAL ACCOUNT DISCOUNT 0.00
FEDERAL UNIVERSAL SERVICE CHARGE 1.22
KENTUCKY LIFELINE SUPPORT 0.08
STATE GROSS RECEIPTS SURCHARGE 0.93
UTILITY SURCHARGE FOR SCHOOLS 2.17
REGULATORY COST RECOVERY CHARGE 0.20
TOTAL CREDITS, ADJUSTMENTS & OTHER CHARGES $4.60
Government Fees and Taxes
911 SERVICE FEE 0.70
STATE SALES TAX 4.48
TOTAL GOVERNMENT FEES and TAXES $5.18
$9.78

So those of you guessing around $10.00 should be right.

I'll be going to a family plan:
$70.00 Family Plan w/ 700 minutes
$60.00 2 3g iPhones data plans
$15.00 1500 text
$15.00 taxes (estimate)

-$20.00 corp discount

=$140.00

Why dont you just go with the $99 unlimited plan?

That plan doesn't include unlimited text and data. As far as I know only Sprint and Helio include text and data in the 99 dollar unlimited plan. So you would actually have to tack on an extra 40 dollars.

Not sure if this was answered but what are the requirements to get the "corp" discount? My company currently does business with ATT with our comp cells, i do not have one, its mostly sales and bosses. If I can get this deal it would be really nice.

My reply in the context of your statement to the other person about getting the unlimited plan. $30 (data) + $20 (text) + $99 (minutes) = $149 so the other person would have to add $40 to their expected bill price.

Go to AT&T Business Center and put your work email into the box. It will tell you if you qualify.

Keep it simple, how much will your monthly bill come to? Here is what mine will look like:

$59.99 - 900 Minutes (No way I can get by with 450)

$30.00 - Unlimited Data/Internet (Must Have)

$20.00 - Unlimited Text (Its a text world)

$4.99 - Insurance (Must Have)

$114.98 - Total before taxes/fees

$10.00 - Taxes & Fees (Estimated)

$124.98 - Grand Total

I currently pay $71.00/month with Verizon but I dont have data. With AT&T it will be roughly $55.00 more a month

I'm not currently an AT&T customer but I highly doubt that the $99.00 unlimited plan would cover data as well. Otherwise it would be a no brainer. That would make it $129.99 which is only $5.00 more for unlimited cell minutes so I will probably do that.

$39.99 Voice Plan
$30.00 Unlimited Data
$20.00 Unlimited Texts

$89.99 plus taxes, so it'll come out to about $100 :(

As opposed to the $36 I currently pay for unlimited minutes and texts.

I might have to reconsider getting unlimited texts, but I am a texting whore.

Discount

So am I correct in assuming that now corporate discounts (those that work for companies that offer it) will work on this iPhone? If so, even with the increase in price, I seem to come out ahead. My previous plan didn't have the discount of course.

uh...how?

minimum mins you can get is $40; unlimited text is $20; data is $30....right there you're already at $90.....then factor in taxes.

sorry bro....."no more than $75" is a pipe dream. come back to reality.

1) I'll be getting a discount
2) I didn't give all the facts, just gloated.

Explanation: My friend and I are both on a family talk plan and will both be getting iPhone 3G. I'm currently an iPhone 2G customer and pay about $80 a month. He has no iPhone and pays around $55. We figure if we take the new bill and split 50/50 it's a win-win for us both.

I spoke with coust. service at ATT and she said that the Corp Discount will be honored for the 3g iPhone. So this made my day, how do you find out how much you actually get off?

I guess it depends on your company. Mine offers 20%.

Ours will be a family plan with 4 iPhones and one regular phone.

1400 minutes ($89)
Unlimited texts ($30)
Data (4x30=$120)

Total = $240/month

Plus the initial activation fees, 4 iPhones, and ETF from Verizon.

Wow
