and our pay rise that was due in August still hasn't been sorted and will more than likely be well below inflation!!![]()

Well ... I guess you got to hang the stocking off of something!I misread the title as boners.![]()
If you don't get an annual bonus do you get some sort of commission or quarterly incentives?
Awarding bonuses is a large part of my job, and I'm suprised many here don't seem to get a Christmas/Year-end/annual bonus.
My company views the annual bonus as a way of rewarding employees for the effort they have put forth during the year, and tries to tie the amount directly to their performance evaluations. (Bonuses just happen to be paid out just before Christmas ... today is the day this year!) This practice is quite common in the financial industry I work in.

No. He prefers to screw the workforce and laugh about it with the other shareholders come dividend time![]()
That is bad. Why don't you look for a better position? Even my crappy previous job had commissions, Xmas bonus, and small annual raise every year.Pay Rise? What are they?
Nothing in 4 years![]()
Where do you work? In the US? That can't be possible!Look man, do anything in the creative/design industry and see what kind of cash you get. They consider us lucky to have jobs, we're artists you know.
No- there are no "incentives" or bonuses, hard as that may be for you to believe. And a lot of us work nights and weekends. Don't even ask if there's overtime because there isn't. Am I bitter? YES.

I heard creative industry (which can cover many fields such as advertising, public relations, graphic studios, and etc) is a cut-throat and it is difficult to make it to the top. I think that was the reason I went for marketing/sales field which can be evaluated by hard number (ie. revenues or profits generated). But, I am interested in design and graphic art fields; so I make the marketing and promo materials myself using CS2. That helped me to be "resourceful" to the company which translates into a bonus or raise every year.
I had this discussion with a friend who's just become a partner in a law firm. For those that don't know, my field is technical, basically IT related. She was complaining that her IT staff were above themselves since they don't contribute to the bottom line of the company. I pointed out that without all the support lawyers get, both from IT and other admin roles within the firm, the lawyers wouldn't be able to get as much done and the bottom line of the partnership would suffer as a result. Everyone has their place in the machine, and it shouldn't only be the direct income-earners that benefit when the firm does well (in your case the sales guys, in hers, the partners). So winning new business should count too, right? I have stayed literally overnight to get new business for my company, only to win it and see nothing for it.

However, she replied that IT were very well paid for being "just support" which missed the point of what I was trying to say, so I think we've already lost her to the dark side on the issue.

BTW- that was a really insulting post. I don't know that you understand what I'm talking about. You're talking about what I do on a daily basis.

Sorry to hear that. I happen to to have the same job description as you... and I just got a nice healthy bonus yesterday. We also get a commission on any new leads that turn into paying clients. I get about 16 days off plus holidays.
We'd hire you but that mask is scaring me.![]()
hmmm... afraid I can't share that. But we are a small firm, so I assume that accounts for most of the posh treatment.
Ah, the wonderful 'job retention bonus'...I have stayed literally overnight to get new business for my company, only to win it and see nothing for it.
