My 867 g4 Quicksilver is 4yrs old running Tiger Just fine and my 333 imac should be going on 6yrs now and still works fine for my daughter running 10.3.9.

Well...lets see:

My newest 'current' system is a month old 12" PB.

The desktop is a 1st Gen G5 (1.8SP), is now 2 years old.

But I still have my other desktop in the office, although not hooked up (only one functional monitor at the moment --- the Apple 17" 1705 monitor finally started to go after only a mere 9 years of operation...(dangit) It is a 1996 vintage (8500 with a lot of mod's, with the last CPU upgrade being to a 400MHz 604e. It was run pretty heavily for 7 years before the G5's came out and I'm mostly keeping it around because when I finally get around to setting it up as a webserver, this should be enough "junk in the office" to convince my wife to let me buy a mini to do that same function :)

-hh

My G4 iBook is about 4 months old. I hope it will last as long the other people's Macs in this thread. *fingers crossed* Someone should start an Ipod thread maybe? Mine"s 4 months old as well :)

12" PowerBook 1.33GHz - 2 months old (bought refurbished)

17" iMac G5 1.9GHz (Rev3) - 1 month old (Apple gave me this as a replacement d/t so many problems with my RevA iMac G5)

60GB iPod (video) White - 2 months old

30GB iPod (video) Black - 1 month old (wifes)

Oh this is embarrassing. I'm buying my first Mac (PB to be exact) next April before I transfer to Auburn.

Right now I have a 5 year-old Pentium III @ 1 GHz desktop - Gateway Performance 1000 to be exact. It's definitely been showing its age for the past two years, but this machine has been relatively good for a Gateway/PC. Besides, it's my mom's computer and she's happy with it. I told her that her next computer will be a Mac Mini.

I'm not buying a PPC PB now because I bought this PIII as the P4's were rolling out, and I've regretted it ever since and I want the newer architecture. Bring on the Macintels!

My heavily upgraded Digital Audio Powermac will be around 4 1/2 years old - and has spent a happy few months of that introducing me to the joys of Mac OS X ;) I'm planning on her lasting for a few more years yet!

My iBook is about four months old. Still a child.

My iMac G4 is almost 4 years old.

My iMac DV+ is 6 years old. Still runs OS X fine. Damn thing is a beast!

6 years i think -- whenever the sawtooth's came out

i'm throwing in a dual 1.4 should easily get me through 3 more years

Whatever is my current system?

I tend to default to my PowerMac dual G4/800 which I've had since June 2002 but I also have a PowerBook 1.33 GHz machine since around March of 2005. I've not really noticed the dual 800 slowing down but some of the recent applications have been a bit bloated.

I've also got a PowerMac G3/800, but I'm currently replacing the drives on it so it will run again. I've had it since late 1999 but expect to use it for a couple of years more.

my imac is from september so that's...3 months and a few days

my ibook..i dunno i bought it off of ebay in 2003 and its still pretty good but i have a feeling it will die in the next year or two (its a 700mhz dual usb if anyone knows)

My systems are:

G3 tower: Probably about 7 years old at this point. Still works fine; we use it for studio recording and running it on OS9. We just dropped in a OWT G4 processor @ 500mHz (a bump of 150mHz and altivec from the previous system) and the little baby still cooks! For our current uses, I expect to get another five year sminimum out of it, if it ever needs replacing at all (depends on what the new technologies in retail music become, like DVD audio or what have you).

G3 ibook: 3 years old at this point. Still runs smoothly. One of our interns uses it regularly now.

G4 tower: Runs the whole company. An original sawtooth @ 400mHz, bought it in 2001, so about 4.5 years old. I just bought a processor upgrade from Sonnet to bring it up to a gig, but really it barely needs it (it started running slower with more than 4 newer apps running simultaneously). With the upgrade I expect it to easily carry us through the G5 era and into the intel chips, as we plan on skipping this gen...

G4 ibook: Bought it refurbished a year ago. 1gHz ibook. Flawless, will probably be my personal computer for the next 3-4 years minimum, then an intern machine after that.

Beige G3 MT

My Beige G3 MT is approaching 7yrs old. Upgraded the procssor to 500mhz, added a Smart & Friendly CD burner, 100mb Zip drive, 384megs of Ram, 4/600 LaserWriter printer, Umax scanner, Apple 15"AV monitor.
I have had absolutly no problems with this system, currently am running OS 9.2.2, software programs include:

AppleWorks
Toast
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Macromedia Freehand
Canvas
PageMill
Poser
MacPublisher Pro

I do not nor will have the money to upgrade to a newer system and am content to have what I already have. Really admire the newer technology and try to keep up with everything as much as possible, but in reality it is beyond my means to obtain.

My 15" PowerBook was bought in November 2004. It has had a few upgrades since, such as a backlight keyboard, 1.5GB of ram, 5,400rpm 100GB HD, new battery, iLife 06' and Tiger. Theres not one scratch ANYWHERE on the entire unit, I treat this machine with more respect than my family.

Thats all good, but now I'm highly tempted with the MightyMacBookPro!!

Arrrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!

Why do Apple's this effect on people.

My powerbook is going on 2 years 3 months, will replace it when I work full time later this year. Macbook pro Rev b!
