It may be time

Well, my Macbook is 63 months old now and the screen is beginning to flicker when it tries to dim so it may be time for a replacement. I'll probably get a 13" macbook air but I really wish Apple had a 15" air.

MacBook 5,1

just buy a new battery from ebay.

MacBook 5,1
Age: 32 Months
391 Cycles
89% Capacity

I fear the capacity has dropped down since OS X Lion, as that does use more battery

Lion actually does drop the battery life pretty bad. Many people are having this problem.

November 2007. Santa Rosa.

When is it time for an upgrade?

I maxed mine out on ram and threw in an SSD. It does what I ask of it but the fans run most of the time.

I've taken the cover off and blew out the dust on the fan, but it still runs a lot!

Do I have wants or needs?

Just an update... I'm at 68 months now. The battery is pretty well shot. The display flickers. Apple better hurry up with the Air update. Either that or I'll buy a new battery and deal with the flickering screen for another year or so...

I just updated from my MacBook Pro 1,1 which was 70 months old and had 827 cycles on the original battery, which left it at 17% health.

Now I have an off lease MacBook 6,1 that is 23 months old, whose battery is at 92 cycles and 87% health. It was used in a high school so the battery, and everything else for that matter, took quite a beating.

20 months old.

I don't bother to check battery stats, I simply follow Apples usage guidelines & enjoy my MBP.

When the battery expires I'll simply replace it.

I get far too much pleasure and excellent performance from my Mac, to worry about the battery.

49 months old MacBook Santa rosa.
Replaced the battery with a cheap one off eBay about 5 month ago. 95%

Oh I know the feeling...
MacBook 2,1
56 months
CrackedCase
DeadBattery (does not hold a charge)
DeadScreen (inverter or LCD)

It is permanently hooked up to an external monitor and gets a little cranky if I ask it to stream HD video.

I really, really, really just want the 2012 ivy bridge MBP to get here.
