That's Tv Plus cancelled. I wonder how many people may be tempted to explore other avenues for content ?

Except for Severance, the rest is trash.
I could not finish episode two of severance, maybe that show just plain bland
or the plot was not in my interests.

 is in a void of making tv shows that do not exceed a box of creativity.
obviously the directors cannot add or go a step further as other film productions can.
seems to me every plot was cut and paste from show we watched last century
case in point as Ted Fatso was carbon copy of major leagues

anyways
I cancelled MLB ($25) fatness and TV ($11) HBOmax ($15) last month
due to the redundant crap and their wrong point of view
and will use these funds to purchase incredible written novels instead.
I have over 1.5 TB of films and show I collected since 2004 (iMac G4 igloo was great for that)
and will watch Mr Bean or even Killing Eve than pay for a show not up to those standards.

does  make an e_candle?
if so I hope that is available in blue!

I can't handle Apple's unbelievable massive price increase so I'm going to ask my boss for a 1.03 cents per hour increase in my wages to cover it.
You do know that low income people are, in fact, allowed to enjoy things like entertainment as well right, and for some people a few dollar increase here and there coming from literally every expense makes it a lot harder? I mean you write like you've never had to wonder where your next meal is going to come from. Stop rooting for billion dollar corporations and get on board with your fellow humans. Apple doesn't care about you.

It's a pity the family plan can't have the 2TB upgrade added to it, as I like Apple Arcade for the kids as they don't jam the games up with trashy ads.
I was just looking into upgrading the iCloud storage. The site says you can pay more and increase your iCloud storage on the Apple One plans. Is that not the case?

Personally, I don't play games so it's a waste of money to pay $6.99 for Arcade when I'll never use it. It's too bad they think everyone plays games.

"You do know that..."

Cracks me up when people start a response with a very pretentious, "You do know that..."

It's a great warning that everything that follows is foolish prattle.

Nonsense. While I'm not happy about the price increase I'll have less lattes this month and eat out 1 day a week less. Everybody has to manage their own finances and it's not about the mentality of being entitled to anything discretionary.

I'm not rooting for price increases but I am a firm believer in purchasing goods and services that have a good price to value ratio.
Apple doesn't care about you.
What does this have to do with anything?

I love how this article includes instructions to cancel (nicely done), meanwhile the competitor site run by fanboys includes steps to save lol.

You know you can still buy digital copies of music through iTunes right? The current options aren't only to listen to CD or streaming; buying digital albums or digital tracks and not subscribing to a music service is still possible. Once in a while, I do buy digital tracks. I'm not a fan of music subscription since one that subscription isn't renewed, I don't get to listen to any of those music; I prefer to own a copy.
I think of Apple Music as "try before you buy". I used to buy several CDs every month. Now, for less than that cost of one CD per month, I can listen to whatever I want, as much as I want. I still buy the albums I love in lossless FLAC from Bandcamp, Bleep, BoomKat and a few other sites.

Using a music service like Apple Music lets me spend some time with the album before deciding if I really want to own it. In the past I'd read a great review or hear a single and decide to buy an album...sometimes only to be disappointed. That never happens now.

They're trying to offset poor sales of hardware.
Big mistake in my opinion, but time will tell......
Exactly this. "Services" has been their one bright spot in recent quarters/years. Other areas are either stagnant or revenue is down. Service growth, on the other hand, has been huge and that has kept the market, analysts, and investors happy. I don't know if it's a mistake or not, but it's definitely telling.

Yes make sure you have no backups so in the event of a disaster it can be one more twist of the knife.

And if you're going to say host at home and do offsite backups total up the cost/time of every drive to the remote location and the hardware investment and maintenance.

You will still save but the actual amount is a lot less than people lead on.
You pay in either time or money. Personally I think paying for cloud services and having more free time, not worrying about rotating backups, storing them at an off-site location, etc. is worth a few $$$ every month. But some people would rather pay with their time and keep those few dollars.

and gouge. Thats a pretty steep price hike on all those services. I'm currently on a 3 month free trial of Apple music / TV / fitness and arcade, none of which I had intended to keep at its old prices (except perhaps music but the cheap Siri run version for my HomePods). Apple's problem here is that I will personally have watched the few things they have that I'm interested in on Apple TV by then and theres very little of their content I find compelling enough to subscribe for. I could possibly see myself getting one month after entirety of the next seasons of For all Mankind and Slow Horse have wrapped.

Let's see here, we've got Apple Arcade, the games service for people who are overwhelmed by actual games, Apple News, where more space is taken up on screen by advertising than actual news, and Apple TV+, the streaming channel that brings you Ted Lasso, Ted Lasso, Charlie Brown, Ted Lasso, Ted Lasso, and oh yeah, like 70 other TV shows that no one talks about.

These are the best services they've ever created with an Apple logo on them, hands down.
I agree with News and Arcade being basically useless (due to lack of good quality stuff), but Apple TV+ does have some gems: Ted Lasso, Silo, Severance, Lessons in Chemistry, Hijack, For All Mankind, The Last Thing He Told Me, Finch, Coda, Mythic Quest, Trying, there's more but these were all the shows/movies we liked.

Like most streaming services, we tend to cancel and then renew when new seasons of shows we like come out, then cancel again once it's over. We do the same with YouTube TV (only get it for the NFL and College football seasons) and Disney+ (Mando, other Star Wars world shows).

Sadly, this is the al la carte world we wanted, where we could pick and choose what we want to pay for.
Unfortunately, it's a really expensive world.

I'm with ya.. got 6 in my family.. all have iPhones. a few apple watches, a couple of MacBooks, and an iPad too. We couldn't get rid of the premier plan if even if we wanted too.
Individually I don't think most Apple services are worth the money, but they're a great deal when bundled in a family plan. And the beauty of Apple's family plans is the fact that you get to decide what constitutes "family." In other words...if you've got a few friends who use Apple services...you have a "family" plan.

So, the most profitable company in the world needs to raise prices this much? Bye.
It’s been my experience that the vocal minority make it seem worse than it is. Look at the Netflix thread for example. It would have you believe Netflix was in the verge of bankruptcy. In fact Netflix’s financials were very good. I suspect the same will happen with this.

Gonna be interested if they need to grandfather existing prices here in Germany, or if I get a notification of a price increase (so far there is zilch information from Apple). If they increase the price, I'll just subscirbe to Music and the 1st Tier of Cloud+ and save me sone extra Euros if needed and resubscribe to one for a month or two to get the content needed.

For November I stay for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, though.

Goodbye to Apple One. Will only subscribe to iCloud storage and possibly pay the yearly fee for Apple TV as it comes a bit cheaper that way. Bringing films like Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon makes me think a lot of great big films are coming. As for music it’s an easy decision I’ll be going with Spotify nothing beats their algorithms and audiobooks are coming which will be included just as the podcasts.

What a bizarre response, as if iCloud is the only way to backup your phone. I wonder what we all did before iCloud.

You literally just reiterated my point, which is that low income people who previously felt that these prices fit into their limited budget for entertainment have every right to begrudge these changes if they no longer feel it offers a proportionate value to them within their budget. The person I replied to is literally mocking people for expressing discontent about this price increase, which I think is just weird, tasteless, tone deaf, and a poor reflection of character. Not everyone drinks a $7 latte everyday.

I’m not singling out any particular demographic. How many people in this thread and the Netflix thread have said:”I can afford this but…” I don’t think being hyperbolic about this is the way to go, but that’s me.

If people want this service and it’s worth it to them, then they will find a way to absorb the price increase.
